  1. I went to the full moon party last month , it was 600 baht there and back on the speed boat, we wore life jacket, which were checked to see if they were buckeled up on the way there ...but not the way back.

Was very professional, noone had to stand on the boad a seat for all , and others had to wait for the next boat...i was surprised at how good that was.

Also they kept teling us to sit down on the way home when we wanted to do titanic style stand ups. so they arent ALL as bad as you think.

  2. hel_l, i am a kiwi Woman living here in los. I train Muay Thai and am about to go to Aussie to fight in a title match. I need to take my trainer with me , and i am sure that this isn't going to be a one off thing. My trainer is a Thai..he has been abroad to japan and china a few times fighting and has obtained a visa for these.

Every thing is orginised for us there . the only thing i have to do is his visa... i really dont know where to start.

Do i apply for a tourist visa? for him He will work there but i think i will be paid for it (in fight money)

    Where do i start.

Mt trainer has 100,000 baht in his bank which has been there a while.

He has a job with the amphur too , so he can show he has a job to return to.

    ANy help would be awesome

    Thanks

    Tracy

  3. 8000 baht a month is 3 times more than the west for 6 hours a day training? I would really love to know where you are basing those prices on?

You get what you pay for at the end of the day and if you don't want to put your hand in your pocket then don't expect top class training. Saying that Chiang Mai is not really reknowned as a hot bed of Muaythai in the first place.

I know it's a bit late but JG's Gym in Cincinnati, Ohio (Home to Rich Franklin, Jorge Gurgel, Dustin Hazelett, Marcus Davis - split time - and a few others) charges 90 bucks a month for unlimited training at their state of the art facilities and Jorge is freak'n awesome...lol.

Anyway - I'm still looking for a place in Chaing Mai as well...and I'm going home in a month - but my bro needs someone to train with as well in either here or bkk....(he's got plenty of MMA experience as well)

Heya pedro schmall is the guy in cm.

    I only have his email

  4. The birth certificate should allow you to continue to obtain non immigrant O visas from most Consulates - a multi entry allows almost 15 months here but you have to make border runs every 3 months. If you are taking care of the children I would expect Immigration to be able to extend your stay but there are income requirements for that of 40k or 400k in bank which may be why they did not mention it. Failing extensions of stay the multi entry non immigrant O visa is your best option.

I have no money ....i work at a local school but I have no wp so dnt even mention that. My ex supports me apparently.

I dnt want to overstay but if i cant find someway to fix this i will have to.

    Thanks for your help

maybe ill do the thai language course..

    yay

  6. Hello all, thank youfor your help and advise. Today iwoke up and he acted like nothing had changed, just maybe he was a little nicer, he bought some dinner and came in early from work , but now i feel its far far to late to try to pretend that he can be nice. So now i am in the posistion that he is acting like nothing has happened and i am still feeling the same sitting here alone again .

What i will prepare to do now is get out of here go home to my country , take the passport s to a secure place where he cant get to them and see a lawyer. it still hurts so bad and i feel so badly for my kids, but i cant do it any longer.\

Does anyone know about the laws concerning custody here in thailand? who has more entitilment.

    Thanks

ohh about the visa, i can get a visa from having thai kids, i think its time to go home and think about things and see how i feel then.

  7. hi again , well i talked to him about this and he is acting like a kid. the kids are 8 months old, 2 years and 6 years. He is willing to give me 10,000 dollars about 200,000baht and pay for th flight as long as i leave my daughter with him here . But i cant do that so the next idea was to get another house here and share the kids, which would suit me ok , bu his parent wnt agree to that ,i just wish it could be between us 2 and not them . my embassy is so hopeless , just 1 guy who will just tell me to se a lawyer. i dont want thi sto get nasty but 10,000 wont go far, he owns alot of things but they are in mummys name but i suppose he has about 2,000,000 in his own name. and i have worked everyday of our 7 year marrige and payed for most of the bills and all of the kids cost while he set up a business. Also after 3 kids im not so thin anymore, thats a problem for him too.

I wish it would change and we could all be together and happy but that is not ever going to happen. He is very selfish and what he has is his and what i ahve is mine and the kids.

On top of this i have been very grumpy and short tempered with the kids in the few days that have just gone past.

noone can tell me what to do but myself, i know this but being away from family and friends from back home i dont have any one to talk to about this,

    Thanks for listening/reading

  8. Hello all , I need some sensible advice please . I am a farang woman married to a thai man. We have been married for about 7 years and have 3 kids together. Right now i am unhappy with livivng in thailand and am totaly moserable all of the time, my husband wont pay so that i can stay home, i have to work a full time job and pay a nanny to bring up my babies. He wont move back home (he lived there 7 years before we came here) and i hate it here. i am not sure what i can do legaly as i would take kids home with no job or anything back in my own country. We were married my country .

Does any one know what i am intitilled to leagaly and some advise on what i should do , stay or go . I cant even stand to lok at him, and he anoys me so much but i have stayed this long for the kids.

    Any help or advise please.

  9. HI I have had 2 babies in thai hospitals, private ones . The first one was Nakornton , quite good, no english skills from any one,,,,and they shave you and give you an enema( like in the 50's) the next was bangkok 9 international, where everyone spoke english and they had a translater on hand 24/7.

Tried to shave me and i said no and they accepted it .

The last thing you want to be doing in labour is trying to speak thai.

    About 35,000-40,000 baht

  10. OK sorry i didnt check for so long, I have found a nanny, she is the cousin of the last one (supposably) but she is good and the kids like her, actualy iwould have liked one a bit older than 17 but she seems fine.

The problem with these nannies is they have family and often we forget that they want to go home and visit them just as we would like to visit ours.

I say just be fair on them , dont treat them to nice other wise they will take advantage of that, aswell, dont treat them mean because they will treat your kids the same way in return and also they are people ,with feeling and do you want your kids to grow up thinking that they are better and above other people just because you may have more monry than them.

The person who said that they paid a thai nanny 40,000 baht ...well all i can say about that is he is either very rich or otherwise stupid.

Ill go work for him for that price.

Yes i do have 3 kids, 2 at school all day ....so she only cares for the baby , not so hard i say.

And lastly about the family.. Married to a thai man, well he is not like a foreign man that comes home from work and helps with every thing , helps with the kids etc, i accept that and i understand its a matter of class and that he has been taught that since he was born , i was not insinuating that all thai men are lazy ...maybe men in general(joke).

His family could help but i dont want to take advantage of them and i want them to take the kids when they want not when i want so that they can ebjoy there hard earned retirement.

    Thanks

thank you for all your help and lets hope my nanny works out.

  13. If it is only about 20 you will be OK. If they are a bit dodgy leave the cases in Thailand and put them in a travelling CD/DVD case and do not declare them.

I have been coming back and forward between Thailand and New Zealand a couple of times a year since Adam was an alter boy with a CD case fill of CD's...they are mostly copied music CD's and some VCD's and DVD's but no one has ever asked me about them. In your case if they did ask, then just explain as you did on here why you are bringing them with you. The worst they will do is confiscate them but I doubt it.

As for food items you will be quite suprised as what you can bring in. The secret is to declare it, and have it all in one bag where it is easy to show so you are not clogging up the system. If you declare a heap of food stuff then they are not going to bother about the a case of DVD's, and they will be rapped that you observed the food rules.

While there are thai food shops here it is the cheapness of quality food items and the personal favorite brands from Thailand that are not available here. Hence my wife will have one of my packs loaded with Thai food stuffs from dried shrimp and squid through to chilli powders, soup stocks and sauces. We have never had to leave anything behind. Just be open about food and declare it, then worst case is you will only lose that item. It you read the individual items you will see that it is not so much the dried fish and processed items but things like fruits, flowers, honey, canes etc. that are the problem ie - things that could have insects and bugs in them.

The question about duty free booze? No problems there. You can actually buy about 4 bottles of booze (spirits or wine) in the NZ duty free shops as long as you are not buying over NZ$700 in other duty items. The only thing you need to be aware of is that your baggage weight drops from Thai international to Air NZ domestic by about 5 kgs. The plane from Auckland to Christchurch is a Boeing so take the surplus on as cabin luggage. Not supposed to but they tend to be not as anal as Nok Air for example about cabin luggage.

March weather in the South Island is going to be cooler than home. But while it is cool at night you will still get the beautiful days. February and March are NZ's most settled weather periods and are the best time to visit the South Island. You will enjoy the South Island at that time of year. Be aware though that you will only find base Thai food items in Christchurch so you will need to stock up there as you will not find thai food supplies around the rest of the South Island.

chillis usualy NO, but declare it if its not worth much it doesnt matter. the dvds no prob we got stopped and they checked that they werent kiddy porn . no mention of pirating.

  14. There are good and bad things about living in Los with kids.

Once you have done the rounds at all the museums and decent playground, what is there to do ?

My son joined a club at the local central, its alot of fun, alot of nice peole and i also made friends. but he can speak fluent thai so i cant imagine what it would be like like for a foreign kid with no thai language skills.

The pollution worries me, but then again not to many kids have asthama here compared to back home. The poo poo onthe ground, well you just need to look where you are going. Poeple are mainly friendly love your kids to death (or pretend to ) school is ok , and i am sure my 5 year old couldnt read and write in 2 languages if he was back home, so its an advantage. and i say if you thin its that bad....go home.
