Thailand’s Bold Move: Decriminalising Sex Work Sparks National Debate
Kiwiken replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
In New Zealand it is only legal for New Zealand Citizens to work in the profession. Foreigners entering the Trade do so illegally. I would hope Thailand would enact similar laws and make the age of 18 as minimum -

The Rottweiler is not by itself aggressive. Cannot say the same of Pitbulls never met a good one. What Thailand needs is Dog control and Dog registration to control what is a huge problem. -
Experts Say Another Thai Military Coup is Unlikely
Kiwiken replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
And then!!!!!!! -
The parliament would be blockaded. nationwide protests would occur and many marches on the Capital. If the disbanding was by the Court system I would doubt protests would remain peaceful. At the top of the List would be currently NZ is One of the most Democratic and open societies in the World and for that to happen we would have to have sunk to despotism. so Armed rebellion would not be out of the question. And given an NZ Military of only 13500 in all Services and around 10000 Police many who would probably support the majority view. 1981 the Springbok Tour nearly tore the Country in half. While many of us just observed both sides of that went to excess. Civilization is only a thin veneer.

Nostalgia for Prayut Grows as "We Miss Loong Tu" Goes Viral
Kiwiken replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News

Why is it in elections the Left /Right comes up when this is just a smoke screen used by anyone who does not like someone with a view other than their own. The US has no left only right and extreme right as observed by most of us from European style Democracies. The biggest thing she has over Biden and Trump is she is not a faltering Old man. and over Trump not a convicted Felon. I guess for America a big step elect a Woman of Colour as President which is 2 big leaps. Or go for the tried and true and elect a convicted Felon. Show the World whether the USA is a Democracy or a joke

Kiwiken replied to Hanaguma's topic in Political Soapbox
Actually if you look at the Pundits now. He waited until the GOP cemented Trump as their Candidate then stepped down. Now there is a Youthful Woman of Colour with a lot of punch facing up to a failed old Fart. Well done Joe. Trumps great achievement getting the Mexicans to pay for the wall. It is as shiny and bright as the Kings new suit! -

Thaksin Shinawatra to Receive Certificate of Innocence in August
Kiwiken replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Why is he any more innocent or guilty than those who preceded or followed . In a Country that has embroiled itself in Political machinations since the 1930's briefly attempted reforms in the 1970's only to follow the veneer of Democracy ever since. The People wanted Future forward all they got was a new soup You all have a love to hate Thaksin but really he is no worse than any of the others Coup what Coup? -

I have been coming to Thailand for 15 years and I find it about the same. Some Thai are friendly and some just do their job. Some find us annoying but most seem happy to help and a smile goes a long way. I guess because I see a lot of Foreigners do not smile why should the Thai smile. On My first trip here since covid . march last year riding on Bangkoks Train system i noted that the Authorities suggested mask wearing. When in Rome. so I wore a mask. No funny looks from Thai. But I noted how most Westerners (mostly young) got on without masks and with obvious contempt for the locals. I do not blame the Thai for not smiling When do we respect them I get smiles most shops I go to because I try and follow the rules. Old story though "If you see someone without a smile . Give them One of Yours"
