This German man, Andreas Raaman, was never mentioned as her boyfriend ! He is rather a yoga teacher / guru. He is not on the run (he just did a "visa run") and he answered to the press about this case : http://www.mirror.co.uk/news/world-news/elise-dallemange-thailand-koh-tao-10715790

This Sathya Sai Baba Movement center that the victim attented is not located on Kho Tao, but at Koh Pha Ngan.

By the way, this "sect" / spiritual movement did not seems so "weird", nor involved in any criminal activity :

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sathya_Sai_Organisation

     according to Mirror:

1.The "guru" is now back in Germany.

    2. He was on "visa run"  same time Belgian girl mysteriously got off Phangan-Chumpon ferry at Koh Tao without her luggage.

    3. Some claim Sathya Sai is cult and founder is a fraud.

Time for police to do proper investigation, starting on Koh Phangan interviewing people who stayed with Belgian girl at Sathya retreat.

Good points. I would like to know; what exactly are those young people doing when they stay on the island and who with?  Are there some weird practices going on that most of us don`t get to hear or know about?

Could it be that for reasons these tourist visitors are into things they prefer others close to them not to know? Why has the German guy so-called Guru involved with tantric yoga resort where the woman had stayed done a runner? There are obviously those who know what`s going on, including those on the island who must have met the victims before their deaths and others that are trying to keep low profiles and hiding behind the scenes.

Agree! Don't blame only the locals. Many dodgy farangs around too! I would investigate the tantric yoga place she stayed at on Koh Phangan

  3.  moral: if you own a business, deposit your cash yourself.   Maybe pet shop  employee & teller were working together?

Always switch on the CCTV in your homes when bringing in "friendly guests", and make sure the footage is secured online for later recovery if necessary!

And inform any trustworthy person where the footage is, that can hopefully would never be needed!

Usually I have to 'declare' the amount I'm depositing by filling out a deposit slip and the teller verifies the written amount matches the actual amount before crediting the account.  Did that not happen here?

Not sure if you've noticed, but Thai banks don't seem to work like banks in the rest of the world.

Sometimes I wonder if some Thai bank 'managers' even knows how many employees they have.

  4. Most 4 or 5- star hotels would have happy hour promotions.   Either 2 for 1 drinks and expensive appies, or "free" appies and expensive drinks ? If you're lucky, you'll find free appies and 2 for 1 drinks ?? If you live here you might be able to get "resident discount" Check website for Hilton, Centarra, Amari, etc

I thought the joke was that he was looking for a place where the elite hang out in Pattaya. Like anyone that could anyway be considered elite would be caught dead anywhere near the joint.

Poor choice of word. Perhaps he meant " upscale" or "classy" or "non seedy" or someplace you can bring your missus?

Please help me understand this article.

It says thailand is in the top 20 most dangerous countries to visit. Then next it says the report places Thailand  118 out of 136 countries. with a placement of 4 . I do not know about the rest of you but 118 seems to not be in the top 20. What is this article trying to say?

Bottom 20 safest = top 20 most dangerous

we have the letter so not a family scam.

asked a lawyer freind in thailand for advice and he said ignore it as thye were a collection agent who had bought the debt.

she is not on the debt register.. although i assume no payment now if we don't defend it could result in getting on the register.

surname now changed from marriage howwever i think thai people retain the same id card number so a name change will not clear it..

to add to the story .. wife spoke the collection agency and i gather the bike was bought 14 years ago.. then they took it back after 6 months for non payment... makes me wonder how they calculate 33k when they also reposessed the bike the also ... would not of thought a bike in thailand even cost thay much outright that long ago

Scam by loser ex Thai boyfriend.

How does collection agency know your wife's details?

Wouldn't out make more sense for them to go after ex? Is he living and working in Thailand?

Have a friend (Thai) who recently opened a tea-shop.....Nothing to do with real tea, but the Thai version....fancy colors and most importantly the plastic cup with a lid and a straw.....Price for all drinks are 25 Baht.     She is in an average location in Hua Hin (rent 10.000) and is selling about 100 cups/day....little more than half is profit (rent not included). Investment cost very low...see link

So OP this might actually work for your friend....she will get some help from the franchise owner.....cheap is good (customer)   low investment (sponsor)

    Have a look here.....https://chobcha.com/?page_id=21

Is not "profit " if you haven't deducted rent!

Does franchisor decide on selling price? The rule of thumb for f&b is that your price should be 3x or 4x cost. So your tea should sell for 35-40 baht?

funny how he ended up at  the same bar as his ex, when there are thousands of watering holes on Pattaya, stalking would be the operative word, wonder what sentence he will get, (100 lines maybe)  no don't answer that one. thai law is an ass.

I don't get it.  So ex girlfriend left boyfriend for female karaoke worker and is lesbian? Or ex is a man and bi?

There's something disingenuous about the appeal. The Koh Samui hospital will treat her and I suspect she is at no greater risk of losing her leg there than she would be at a NHS hospital in Yorkshire. It sounds as though the 100k is needed to pay the hospital bill which will then release her to fly home and get free treatment on the NHS, all of this because she didn't have the correct drivers license. I don't mean to appear callous but this seems to be an appeal to bail out a person because of their own ignorance of licensing laws and using the allegedly poor quality of Thai hospitals as an excuse.

How much is a plane ticket back to UK?  they've already raised 16,000 £s

    This one (somewhat graphic).

They were on the wrong side and speeding like you should not do except you are a professional racer. Too fast and loosing control in the curve swerving over the continuous yellow line.

NOTHING to blame on the pickup driver.

EDIT: sorry, "injured". I pronounced them dead already.

    That must be heavy injuries.

    Good luck.

    Stupid girls

Plus never read anything, never listen. Try teaching a class of bachelor degree students:

    - Did you read the case study handout? No, but I think it's about xxxxx.

    - What did I say in the last 3 minutes? I don't know, why are you so serious professor?

    - Previous class, well explained several time plus hand out; next class is final exam, don't be late. Several students 30 - 45 minutes late. Why are you late this was all explained last class and you got a handout. Ohh I didn't know.

Don't worry, Daddy will get them a job

This is the apex of what the problem is Too lazy and also not valued. The younger ones are taught not to  question the older ones

This does not allow for critical thinking If they do they will be chastised.

The concept of "don't rock the boat" is clearly the way students think So if they do have a better or innovative way whether it be in Math or Science

it is likely to be pushed into the background

Critical thinking is not rewarded in Thailand it is frowned upon. This is why Thailand will never be a leading country

The concept is actually "kreng jai" or respect for your elders and "superiors"

Money is definitely a motivator and it would not be the first murder-for-money killing in Pattaya. But what would she have to gain? She already had money, a sports car, houses and a falang boyfriend that wasn't much older than her. It's difficult to see how she could have improved on this. I would say it's downhill for her now. Although she will likely inherit the cars and the houses, she wont have access to the income streams that she had before. They had been married since 2011 (not late last year as some reports claimed) and had just had the second child. If we were talking about a 65 year old falang and a 25 year old Thai girl then I would automatically think money, but it doesn't stack up in this case.

Seize cars and houses to pay back victims of husband's scams
