Don't forget the Irish guy who hacked that girl to death with a machete whilst on methamphetamine and then, after turning himself in, managed to somehow find his way back to his home country less than 6 months later.

Anyone know if Thai nationals in their 50s (no underlying conditions) are eligible yet? Near Lom Sak. Local hospital appears to have Sinopharm but no info how to register, or whether under 60s can yet. Would much prefer Astra-Zaneca if possible, obviously.

I got 3 and 5 right, Thai and Khmer.
I actually know a Korat Thai who's a dead ringer for the Sinaporean doris.

Anyone know the Thai slang term for 'squirting'? I seem to remember that an equivalent of 'explode water' is sometimes used but I've no idea of the phrase itself, plus I may be remembering it wrong anyway.
Edit: By 'squirting' I'm referring to that of a sexual nature where a women ejects liquid, of a much debated composition, from her vagina during stimulation. -
Thanks for the humorous replies folks 555
I just have a thing for girls in platform heels and enjoy when they keep them on during bedroom antics. Sometimes they forget to bring them, or I just forget to ask them, so I figure it makes sense to keep a few pairs in various sizes at the apartment.
Apparently US 6 is the average in mainland China, so a range from 4, 5, 6, 7, and 8 will hopefully do the trick.

Bit of an odd question, with likely no obtainable definite answer, but just wanted to see if I could get a rough estimate of the average Thai ladies' shoe size. Any ideas chaps?

It's Filipinas who want to escape abroad, some Thai girls may give it a try but overall seem less adaptable and more inclined to return home unconvinced.

I recall going to a pub near the Marriott Hotel Marble Arch where there was a Thai restaurant. My Thai companion didn't turn up his nose. It was either Harrowby Street or Crawford Place as I recall, but I can't locate it on a map. We also lunched at (I think) one of the Thai Square chain - they have one near Trafalgar Square, and that was certainly the area we were
Sounds very much like The Heron on Norfolk Crescent, 5 minute walk from Crawford Place. A staircase just inside the entrance to the pub leads downstairs to the restaurant.
Used to be a favourite haunt of a group of Isaan ladies who I once associated with (a couple of whom lived on Crawford), until most of them were deported. I went back there, after a long absence, recently and it appears to have changed hands now. Still seemed to have more Thai (or at least East Asian) customers than farang so they must be doing something right.
They have, however, sadly done away with the karaoke system which proved a lot of fun later in the evening (if you like your Isaan pop classics ). -
Most of the Thais I've known in London have favoured The Heron off Edgware Road.
The restaurant is underneath the pub if you have trouble finding it.

The Thai version of Augmentin 1000mg tabs 10 to a box was 300b last time I bought some. Fairly recently. Zithromax costs more as its a name brand the thai version is less than half in price, around 250b.......
Basement Kad Suan Kaew walk toward the back there is a pharmacy next to a phone case and accessory shop.
The last time I bought Amoksiklav it was 195 baht a box ( a course is not many as I recall.
Recently got Amoksiklav 14 x 1000mg from the hospital at Baht 880 (no I don't normally get meds from hospital pharmacies, but didn't feel like traipsing about that one time and I do get insurance rebate).
Had to take it for an additional week so got the equivalent at a pharmacy for Baht 330.
This was in Pattaya, but I imagine prices are similar elsewhere.
I'm on prophylactic antibiotics most of the time due to a lung condition that exposes me to bacterial infection. I've been through a few different ones over the last couple of years and i keep a note of cost. So, here are the cheapest prices I have paid:
Antibiotic name/tablet size (mg)/daily dose (full treatment not prophylactic)/pack size/pack cost/daily cost
Branded Levafloxacin ('Cravit') 500 / 1 / 5 / ThB 400 / ThB 80
Generic Levafloxacin 500/ 1 /10 / ThB 420 / ThB 42
Branded Amoxicillin+Clavulanic Acid ('Augmentin') 500/ 2 / 7 ThB 280 / ThB 80
Generic Amoxicillin+Clavulanic Acid 500 / 2 / 10 ThB 240 / ThB 48
Branded Moxifloxacin ('Avelox') 500 / 1 / 5 ThB 650 / ThB 130
Generic Doxycycline 100 / 2 / 10 ThB 15 / ThB 3
Generic Azithromycin 200 / 2 / 6 ThB 250 / ThB 83*
Branded Azithromycin (forgotten name!) 200 / 2 / 6 ThB 500 / ThB 166*
Cheapest supplier for most of these for me has been the semi-wholesale pharmacy on soi 77 (soi On Nut) in On Nut, Bangkok (between Sukhumvit junction and Big C. Next cheapest is on Th Sukhumvit Bangkok 30 metres west of its junction with soi Nana (close to the Esso petrol/gas station). Prices in my local regional City of Ubon (in the cheapest pharmacy I could find there) can be as cheap as Bangkok, but average about 10% more expensive
* Azithromycin typically has a very short course - typically only 3 days - before descenndin into a prophylactic half dose
Thanks guys, you've been most helpful. That's a very handy list, SantiSuk; much appreciated.

Thank you all for you help.
I'm not actually in LOS atm, but I'll be heading straight for CM on my next trip and wanted to get an idea of any likely costs should I have a flare-up while I'm there. Prices sound extremely reasonable though, I doubt I'll have to bring anything with me.
I did buy some cipro from Boots at Don Mueang earlier this year, which was a fair bit more expensive, but that's to be expected from an airport pharmacy selling brand-names. Thanks again.
Ciprofloxacin is a bit more expesive and quite potent,
Be careful when taking fluoroquinolones, particularly Cipro.
There are many reports of ruptured tendons, after only a few doses.
Read the literature carefully.
Yeah, they had to keep me on cipro for 7 weeks at one point, and my doctor was constantly reiterating his concern about tendonitis. Had it prescribed, on-and-off, for around 15 years now, but the older I get the more frequent the flare ups are getting; a little bit worrying, but not a lot i can do about it. Switching with co-amoxiclav probably helps, at least. Cheers buddy.

I have a medical condition that flares up every so often in the form of a nasty bacterial infection, for which my doctors prescribe either Co-amoxiclav, or a combo of ciprofloxacin and metronidazole, to clear things up over a couple of weeks.
Does anyone know how much these generally go for at pharmacies in CM? I'm quite happy to take generic versions, if it'll save me some money.
e2a: I've just learnt that Co-Amoxiclav is often known as Augmentin, if that helps.

As usual ubonjoe advice perfect.
On side note if you wish to extend your stay, being UK you could go to hcmc. UK pp holders have 15 day visa exempt. Good for a turn around or obtaining setv if that suits future travel plans
Thanks jacksam, will bear that in mind, perhaps for the future. The gf isn't at all keen to visit any of the neighbouring countries (except Laos), so it's off the cards until I get some time to myself.
-
You will not have a problem getting another visa exempt on your return from Laos. There is no limit on the number you can do in 6 months.
Thanks, Joe, great to hear. Hopefully will save a few baht.

For my first trip to Thailand, earlier this year, I entered using the 30-day visa exemption (UK passport, only stayed 18 days). I'm due to return using the same passport, and 30-day visa exemption for my next trip in mid-August, but want to visit Laos for a week in early September, before going back to Thailand and flying home 29 days later (if I can get another 30-day extension).
Can anyone please tell me, if it'd likely be possible to do all of this without obtaining a Thai visa? I realise I'll still need one from the Laos government, to get in there, but it'd be nice if I could get away with using the 30-day exemption, not only for my August return to Thailand (from the UK), but also my return from a short trip to Laos.
From what I gather, the 30-day visa exemption can be applied on 3 occasions over the course of 6 months, but has anyone actually tried this, or similar?

Thanks very much for the update, John.

Anyone know if they managed to actually switch-on on Feb 1st, in the end, or did they roll it back again?
Have you ever felt unsafe or victim?

Depends on what you define to be a crime. In other countries, some of the unrequested physical attention I've received from katoeys whilst walking down 6/1, or past Fantasy Lounge on Buakhao, would be classified as sexual assault. Not that I'm anymore than mildly irritated by such behaviour, I might add.
