  1. 5000 sounds like way enough money, try to hitchhike in a truck from CM to BKK or Pattaya, shouldn't be to hard if you speak some Thai to save money on transport. You can find short term room for 150 baht per day so this will leave you plenty of money for food

The problem is that he won't get paid until the end of May, so even 150 baht a day for a shit hole would cost 7500 baht plus food.....plus Visa plus Visa trip....many Wp offices won't issue one until you have the Non-Imm type B in your passport..and his current visa ends in 2 weeks...lawks a mussey................but we all know that this thread was some kind of Trojan horse.....next

  2. And this time I'll be that jerk that feels it worth pointing out that you can get stitched up for "working" without a WP for your performance.

It's cool , my current WP doesn't expire until the end of April.

One of my roles - as per my job description - was 'Music Teacher' at my school smile.png

I organised a large musical talent show and we did quite a few performances around Kalasin - One of them was in front of the Police Station.

  3. Is that some kind of a joke ? .....as a westerm woman I had to comment!

rule 1 : Relations ships take time to build...same with western women

rule 4 : When you accept a Thai girl in your life, you accept her family and friends.......heuheu same with western women

Rule 5 : learn to speak any language your partner and family speaks...it works everywhere

rule 6 : Don t be greedy.....we, also don t like greedy men! trust me

Rule 7 : Thai girls will tell you exactly what you what you want to hear, and do what you want them to do...and she will only care about you (at least will make you think that), you are so happy since she didn't bother you with her sadness over her grandma s death...how convenient is that, you only had to worry about yourself..... but she cries when you left, that s so nice....crap....This is where thai girls are very smart....she ll let you think you rule...but she does

Rule 8 : men are expected to do the first move..sorry for being old school, but we also like it

and the best is number 9 : do not cheat and or lie....yep yep, it is world famous that western women love to be lied to and cheated

My gosh!! Sometimes I wish I couldn t read!

So what you are saying is that Thai women and Western women are the same except for Rule 7 - where thai women are bs artists?

wow you are very insightful- thanks smile.png

    Dear Chonabot,

If you knew women as well as our OP, you would know we love bashing about other girls wink.png

I think I know them somewhat better..but bash away :)

  4. I think if you work here for a while and meet people in different walks of life you will have a good idea of any changes.

The world keeps on moving and we have the choice to move or complain/leave.

For those who have a lot of time and can see every microcosm of change - they will probably be better suited to a time capsule.

Our home countries have changed and, for better or worse, that is what they call progress.

We keep hearing about how Melbourne has been voted the best city in the world to live in, for the second year running :)

But I know at least 5 people from that place who tell me ' it's not what it used to be'

    The Human condition.

I wonder if the soi dogs and cats have similar diatribes

  5. Yes - about 2 months ago most of the people demanded a transfer because the local government would not pay for the lunch breaks.

Used to be okay before - now not so good.

I believe most of them either went to Udon or elsewhere..

  7. My dear friend

Take advise from an old asian.

If youre willing to nod yes to everything your thai gal says then go ahead.Thai women are never wrong they always want there own way and when they dont get it you will get tantrums galore.

Ive never found a rich respectable thai girl with a farang unless they met in university.

A wise German told me that for the thai women

1st is her father and mother

2nd is her brother sister and relatives

3rd are her neighbours and friends

    4th is her dog

and 5th is her farang husband.

So the wise German and the Old Asian got taken to the cleaners?

Genralisation overload - some of us have over 18 years of marriage to prove otherwise - jog on buddy smile.png

ps I have seen many an eyebrow raised in my 18 years of marriage, usually by cynical old tosspots not worth a w*nk

  8. If you can make 5000 baht last 2 weeks, you must be good at budgeting :)

Can't your mate help you out?

I teach in Isaan. most schools here start on the 15th May and they pay you 2 weeks later, but that is usually only 2 weeks pay.

If you are good with writing and grammar, there are some ways to money online pretty quickly - google 'article writing' and you will see what I mean.

You need paypal though - good luck.

  9. Slightly off topic, sorry, I bought a bottle of 'Black Cock' a while ago - simply to upload the label onto facebook - yep I am that sad - name made me chuckle for some childish reason....

Last week I had no booze in the house and could not be arsed to go down to Lotus for some wine, they sell a few good Ozzie reds.

Anyway, I drank the small bottle, mixed it with some OJ. Tasted kind of sweet on its own - a bit like a coconut infused Rum.

Had a fkn headache for about 2 days afterwards, and I do not suffer from hangovers usually.

It was only 70 baht for a half bottle, what did I expect - The wife had her 'Som Num Na' head on for the rest of the week.

Regards a decent cheap whisky - there are none smile.png

As a proud Scot I would say Talisker floats my boat - never seen it in Lotus though.

  10. Funny this complaining about fb on smartphones etc

I was a UNIX coder for 20 years and understand most IT applications. But on my phone, I have no camera, no Internet access, just a phone line.

I feel that many cell/mobile phone users who open up the floodgates with internet etc..would be better advised to stick with a basic, yet vital, service.

Leave the extras to people who actually enjoy it.

I must have been pissed last night, I have no recollection of posting this load of twaddle - apologies :)

  12. I created a facebook page for a talent competition I ran at my school, it was a great success.

Over 10000 likes and many clips uploaded, all of which I had admin rights over. One or two slagging matches between the groups, a few live concerts uploaded and all for free.

Great use of social media, and the bonus of pissing off the school director, nice smile.png

  13. Seems like a lot of people are using facebook without having gone to the trouble of learning how to use all of the options.

It is not for everybody, but it can be very helpful, particularly the poker smile.png

I used to make money selling the Texas Holdem chips via ebay and never once got found out about my multiple affairs...thumbsup.gif

I since learned from my mistakes and now use it mainly for more profitable reasons .

If you wish to remove data from your profile, simply 'remove' it using the Edit/remove option. It will not return whether or not your deactivate and reactivate your account.

  14. I would be aware that at your new school you will most certainly be the best English speaker there.

There are at least 30 NES teachers in Kalsin and that figure is growing

Kirsty is it Kalasin Town or one of the villages that you will teaching at?

There is a big difference regarding the social side of things, but I rather like the sleepy villages.

Even with that. She could STILL be the best English speaker at her school tongue.png

And no doubt will be the best English speaking Thai teacher.

Kirsty. Good luck and have fun.

    Sent from my i-mobile i-STYLE Q6

    Amen to that :)
