I have heard that Thai nationals are in the front of the queue for the vaccine. That makes no sense in terms of the spread of the virus. The virus doesn't care what nationality you are, and putting any group ahead of another , unless it is based on risk category, puts the entire country at a greater risk. Getting the vaccine is not just about an individual becoming immune, it's about protecting the entire population from infection, by vaccinating at risk groups first, then working your way down the risk curve. What passport you hold is irrelevant to your risk category.

It works out cheaper for the Thais to be vaccinated first.  Foreigners pay for tests and treatment.  The Thai government pays for treatment of Thais.  Simple maths, lack of moral compass and greed really.

You can only get a yellow book if your married to a Thai. I havnt been sent any tax request for my Condos. But Thais have been sent a tax bill. When I  enquired I was told only Thais pay the tax. Yellow book and pink ID card means nothing chanote does. I havent has a Pink card since I went to Heaven and GAY Pride in Vuaxhall in the 90s

Anyone can get a Yellow Book.  My Gay friend has one for a villa.  I know tenants who have them.  They only register you at that address.

They are the new rules in all emigration centers to verify that you have the money 12 months a year against the visa agents that are currently being eliminated. Expatriates now no longer have any recourse just to change country or return to their country of origin, the Thai government only wants expatriates who are rich or at least have the ability to spend on the example of Malaysia.

Did my Retirement extension on Thursday at Hua Hin.  Income method.  50 minutes because there was a  queue of 5 in front.

Presented an annual statement, one letter from bank, updated bank book that day, but does not even have the full 12 months deposits showing.  Exactly the same format as last year without any new rules!

  4. Sadly the death knell of many estates here in Thailand.  Your story could be my estate.  We tried to sort out the estate with little success.  Mainly because it appears to be only the Farangs that are bothered and the Land Office is only interested in Landowners (Thais).  Before people say anything yes we have Company owned Land but the L.O. would only conduct business in Thai.  The solution appears to be employing a Lawyer and be prepared to tip. Question is then who pays?

I have to agree with most Ex-pats that Samui Immigration tends to test ones patience to the limit, both pedantic nick-picking points and failure to provide advice on "exactly' what they want.

    A few points:

Why do they need a hand drawn map and a Google map?

Why do they need a map at all when they have your address and telephone number?

Why do you have to photocopy your Passport every year when they have previously had a copy, unless you have renewed your Passport?

Why are there so many repetitive questions on similar documents or why can't one just write "No change".  I am assuming this info is available on their data base.

Why do they need to know how many Brothers and Sisters I have?

Why do they need the names of my deceased Parents?

Thank goodness my Thai Wife is always with me at Immigration who actually deals with these Officers and keeps me calm!

    TIT!

    The officers are frustrated.

They really need someone with an ounce of common sense to stop all of these ridiculous ideas before they make fools of themselves every single day.

One of the biggest things I miss about loving in Thailand is the lack of our home grown soaps.  Come on Sir just let them crack on with their ideas......  There is so little other entertainment and merriment left in my life. ????????????

  7. I hate it when there is a knee jerk reaction to create a policy when the full facts of the matter have not been considered.  There was certainly something going around about Xmas time, a very nasty bug that affected many of my friends and family.  This was prior to any Covid tests being undertaken.  What if the disease had passed through Thailand before any testing for Covid was considered or even possible. What if the Mekong basin residents have some form of natural immunity, what if Vitamin D plays a part or social measures such as the Wai v hugging, even the chemical properties of Som Tam providing some form of natural immunity etc etc etc.  Why not test for antibodies and find out the true infection rate in a sample of the population throughout the country first.  Hats off to the authorities for the measures they did put in place that have undoubtedly stemmed the spread of the disease but had a huge detrimental effect on the economy.  Were they necessary though?  Very many unanswered questions.

According to my IO, when 90 day reports resume, it will be 90 days from when your last report was due, as if you'd continued to do them normally.

I've already crossed out my previous date on my report slip and hand written the next 90 day date on the slip as a reminder.

However as my next extension application is due prior to my next 90 day report, I'm expecting them to manually reset my next 90 day report from the date of my approved extension, which is what they normally do.

That will mean my next 90 day will be due October.

I would agree with that because the original notices translated to say everything would be done automatically. But as TIT I suggest we wait the next announcement as UJ says.

It seems to me that this approach could add more to the spread of covid rather than helping. If they are going door to door having some type of close contact with people and their homes, doesn't that create the potential to carry the virus to the next person when they'd make contact with someone who is not showing symptoms but has the virus? If there are 3000 volunteers running around from house to house, I can see the possibility of some problems with this approach.

    Yes!  LOL
