big C is great on returns. much better than tesco.my girl prefers to shop at tesco but i buy all my bigger items at big C.
3 minutes ago, williamgeorgeallen said:Got to disagree, never had a problem at Tesco, Big C start off with opening statement of its only guaranteed for 3 days then change to 10 days when you debate a bit more then they finally say a year and have you got the receipt ? The Girl asked me if I still had the box for the fan, I bought it 6 months ago !
i think it depends on what branch you deal with, when dealing with returns, some times you think the money was coming out of their own pocket. Some one did say Thais are very non confrontational and wouldn't dream of taking stuff back ?

There was a bar in the sixties in Glasgow called The Dial Inn.

I can't disagree but my argument is they were selling a dangerous product which could have injured some one irrespective of the price, for me yes maybe the motor wouldn't last long but the blade shouldn't shatter after 3 months. It says in the advert made to ISO Standards, which should ensure products and service are safe, reliable and of good quality.
i had a phone call 10 minutes after I emailed the headquarters of Big C, lady bring it back and we will replace it or give you a refund, that's what I call good service.
-
i bought one of these fans 6 months ago, the blade 'shattered' after 3 months, fortunately the pieces were contained by the guard. I returned to Big C and after a long discussion, the usual it's only guaranteed a a week then 10 days then a year, do you have the receipt etc. and a comment that the fan was 'cheap money' I said 'cheap money' or not it should last longer than 3 months. I was eventually provided with a new blade, it was taken from a new box as they don't stock replacement blades.
On Sunday same again only this time the guard flew off scattering plastic like 'shrapnel' all over the room, there was a young child, my girlfriend and myself in the room but fortunately we escaped any injuries.
Back to Big C again, I didn't want a replacement blade just to tell them how unsafe the product they sell irrespective if it 'cheap money' or not. Again after a long discussion I was given a number to call which I did but I could not make the person understand what the problem was, I have since emailed the head office, I won't hold my breath waiting for a reply.
I have had a Hatari fan for over a year, never a problem, both are cleaned regularly., any one else had a similar experience ?

When I went to Imigration to transfer my Visa they put numerous info/stamps in my new Passport about previous Visas.
As far as I am led to believe the chip in a UK Passport only confirms the details which are in the Passport.

Last year a friend of mine managed to get a UK visit visa for his girlfriend after forking over 35k Baht to an "agent".
She would almost certainly not have been able to get a visa without the "fee".
There were no British staff in evidence at the Embassy on my last visit there.
At the end of the day the Visa application would have been considered by UK personnel, the front line staff are all Thai.
A well known agent here in Pattaya 'charges' 30000 baht, 5000 baht upfront then the balance is paid if the application is successful, not all are they said.

If having 5 glasses of whiskey and plenty of food from the hours of 9:00pm until 2:00am and driving home afterwards is in your mind "shame on you", than same on me, not.You drive to a pub, drink whiskies then drive home?
Shame on you. Take a taxi next time.
ALWAYS call your insurance and let them sort it out. If you have no insurance(1st class) DEMAND the money and don't walk away like a fool.
I don't think drinking 5 whiskies then riding a bike after is anything to brag about irrespective of how much food you have eaten, how do you know you werent over the limit ?

I can't think of many major towns or cities in the UK I would walk alone after midnight, you walk around Pattaya Beach area for one your asking for trouble, its global not just Pattaya.
I read the book, Thailand the Worlds most Deadliest Destination, well I didn't finish it, the author was paranoid about Thailand, all he did was slag it off, good and bad everywhere.

The chair rental biz is down because they are not allowed to cover the entire beach in empty chairs nowadays, forcing tourists into using their services.
Plenty of videos on YouTube of these sleaze balls abusing tourists that prefer to sit on the sand.
These chair vendors have turned the beach into a shanty slum. Looks terrible.
About 60% of the beach is open for you to use is that not
good enough for you?
They hogged close to 100% of the beach before the Military Junta cleared them out. I have no sympathy. They were abusing tourists.
Still, I see them setting up thousands of umbrellas that go unused, then they stack that pile of crap up all night and it looks like hell.
An umbrella chair for anyone that wants one is fine with me. Just don't turn the place into your personal slum.
Haul that crap outta there at 6PM. The beach aint a warehouse for all those unused chairs.
Totally agree the chairs and umbrellas should be set up when some one wants one, on demand. The vendors set up hundreds but only a few are ever occupied, are they concerned if they don't occupy their plot that some else will take over it ?

Who in their right mind would want to swim in the where sea now when it floods all the storm water including residue from Beach Road, Sewage etc flows directly into the sea.
Then have a walk down after dark and watch the rats running about.
That's the reason why business is failing.

On a slightly different topic, I had too withdraw money from my UK Bank Account yesterday, Kasikorn ATM, 200baht charge.

Never stopping Tour Buses something has to be done about limiting traffic on Soi Bukhao, it is a very busy narrow road with no sidewalks and loads of pedestrians. I don't think you can close it off but limit it to ScooterTaxis,Taxis, Baht Buses and delivery vans. It is used as a rat run so people can avoid 2nd and 3rd Road.

what's going on? Thai Immigration rules are out there all over the place, in many languages, and very simple. and Thailand has quite a few consulate offices just about everywhere. why are "agents" involved? quite interested to know.
Agents are involved because some people don't have the confidence to deal with Immigration but the main reason is obvious which I don't want to state on TV although there are plenty of adverts what Agents can do for you.

That's why I put it in inverted commas, the Visa stamp in my Passport is an Extension of Stay but says Retirement.
I am not disputing the name of the Visa only the funds required to obtain one.

Please settle an argument I have with a colleague, he was recently talking to an Agent who told him the funds for a 'Retirement Visa' can be in a UK Bank Account or your home country. The Agent told him Agents had been 'conning' people for years over this telling them the money had to be in a Thai Bank Account.
I know you can use Income from another source out with Thailand but nowhere have I seen it where your funds can be in your country of origin even with a letter from your Bank signed by Notary.

What Immigration Office did you use and what is a 'notification letter ?done mine last monday.
need notification form from british embassy.
photo copies of every page in your old passport.
oh nearly forgot 500BHT,SERVICE CHARGE.
dont ask for a receipt you wont get one.
Joe said all I need to do is take my old Passport and go to Immigration and the Visa will be transferred to my new Passport.
If you do not have or did not receive the transfer notification letter, then Email the British embassy and within a few days they will provide you via email with a generic "transfer form" along with instructions on how to fill it in. You then take this along with the two forms required by immigration ( transfer stamp form and new passport form).
I renewed my Passport in the UK, Durham, I asked about a Transfer Notificatiob, they didn't know what I was talking about.
Can you forward the email address for the British Embassy in Bangkok please ?

I will check in and pass through Immigration at the Airport on my 90th Day just before midnight, my flight leaves after midnight which is the 91st day. Is better to do a 90 Day Report just to be 'on the safe side' ?
-
It's a 90 day report and there's no paperwork. The immigration officer staples a barcode into your passport that he swipes at the end of the 90 days and staples in a new one. Hardly a chore, 4 times a year.Imagine if other countries around the world insisted on
the 30 day reporting plus all the paperwork,, feels like
house arrest,, i want no part of it.
I don't always do a 90 Day Report as I don't always stay for up to 90 Days some times therefore I have to complete the paperwork again when I stay more than 90 Days.

Is this new form available to download ?

Thanks Joe, forgot too ask is there any documentation required ?When you enter the country after getting the new passport you would need to show both passports to use the re-entry permit in the old one. You would be stamped into the country to the date shown on the re-entry permit in your new passport.
Then you would need to go to immigration to have all your stamps transferred to the new one.
This Saturday is a no Alchol Day??

I take it the owners or the government will be paying/compensating the employees of the Bars for the time off, Holiday Pay ?
