Getting back to Thailand under Nov 01 regulations
Oxx replied to Negita43's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
One plus of going down the visa exempt route is that you'll only have to buy 30 days' worth of the compulsory insurance. If you already had a visa you'd have to buy insurance to its expiry date. -
Chemical odors behind the detection of dangerous waste smuggling in Lopburi
Oxx replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
But they are aiming to become carbon neutral by ... 2060. In the meantime, their carbon emissions are going to climb until 2030. -
Chemical odors behind the detection of dangerous waste smuggling in Lopburi
Oxx replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
Chemical odours? Aren't all odours chemical? And as for "waste ... is cancerous", how can waste have cancer? Pretty sure they meant "carcinogenic". -
Telephone number problem Mor Prom app
Oxx replied to Golden Triangle's topic in COVID-19 Coronavirus
Does your 'phone number appear on the vaccination certificate, and is it correct? It not, contact the hospital to get it added/corrected. They'll then pass on your 'phone number so that the app can recognise it. -
Anti-Fake News Center confirms local construction project false
Oxx replied to snoop1130's topic in Phuket News
So, the local Moslems don't need another mosque? Then what's the point of an "Islamic Ethics Training Center"? Surely the existing mosques teach Islamic ethics to the Moslem populace. I sounds to me that this is a mosque, and they are hiding the fact by giving it a different name. It wouldn't be the first time this sort of misdirection has been used by The Religion of Peace. And why is it being built on "reserved forest land"? -
Funny how they don't mention the expensive hell you'll go through if your test turns out positive (even if it's a false positive).

Any alternative to hard dry dog food?
Oxx replied to Kenny202's topic in Plants, Pets & Vets in Thailand
Iskhan Soft is semi-moist so probably meets your requirement. I give it to one of my dogs whose lower front teeth have worn away such that he can't handle hard kibble. -
Anyone recently had a colonoscopy in Thailand?
Oxx replied to charliechoc's topic in Health and Medicine
OP, I think you should check the options again. The usual options are: (1) 4 litres of Niflec the evening before colonoscopy, with the colonosocopy being performed early in the day (2) 2 litres of Niflect the evening before, and 2 litres on the day, with the procedure being performed late morning/early afternoon. In my experience, #2 is easier and also produces a clearer colon. (This is also backed up by research. See https://www.thaiscience.info/Journals/Article/JMAT/10989511.pdf ) -
The poster's username of "swissie". I'd have thought it pretty obvious.

The Newspaper-that-dare-not-speak-its-name reported yesterday that the US$50,000 insurance was not required for people returning to Thailand within 21 days.

Au contraire. However, Operation Sealion was only planned (1940) after the UK had started hostilities against Germany (1939). Had Churchill not been a blood-thirsty warmonger there would have been no Operation Sealion.

I don't know your nationality, but if you're British or American there never was any real prospect of being invaded by the Nazis. Hitler only wanted some living room (lebensraum) for the German people. He highly respected the British and (until Britain entered the war) no animosity towards the country. And America was simply too far away.

So a "major war" is only "major" if it kills (I presume white) Americans and western Europeans? And if a war doesn't do so it's a "pointless war"? Personally, I think all wars are pointless. Anyway, interesting perspective.
-
So, what do you call the Gulf War? Somali Civil War? Kosovo War? Vietnam war? Korean War? Ethiopian Civil War? War in Darfur? Syrian Civil War? All minor tiffs? To declare no major war is to suggest either a lack of historical knowledge, or an incurable pollyannaism.

I have bitten the bullet and booked the flight!!
Oxx replied to Scouse123's topic in ASEAN NOW Community Pub
Not sure that's right. When I tried to click "postal delivery" yesterday it wasn't available as an option. Only "self pickup" works (two locations). This has been reported elsewhere. And today, the whole "international certificate" part of the app isn't working. -
Non-immigrant B extension of stay.

Just gone to the covid19.tgia.org site to get a quotation for a year's insurance. A few observations: - There's no option for between 180 days and 1 year - They don't take into account whether you're fully vaccinated or not - They don't take into account one's age. A fully vaccinated, healthy young person is far less an underwriting risk than an unvaccinated elderly one, but the premium is the same. Oh, and the cost: an outrageous 43,200 baht. This seems more like a scheme to make Thai insurance company owners wealthy than anything else. Is there any way to get this cheaper. (I don't currently have general health insurance and don't want to get any, so a "top up" is not really an option.)

You may have a nasty surprise if the new rules are anything like the sandbox rules. Under the latter you have to have been in the country of departure (in your case the UK) for 3 weeks, otherwise you'll be in for the full (and expensive) ASQ experience. -
Unless you had an MRI, you would not know your level of internal fat in the key organs, the pancreas liver. It is thought that with a VLCD fat is burned from these organs. With a less extreme diet fat may be taken primarily from elsewhere in the body, such as the abdomen.

According to today's newspapers, the Private Hospitals Association said yesterday that there would be no refunds for people who cancelled their Moderna orders, but that they could either postpone their vaccine appointment or transfer their doses to other people.
