You know there is such a thing in life called Adventire, how many of you guys have actually done anything remotely like this? People climb mountains jump out of aeroplanes and free fall they row small boats across the Atlantic, they sail boats around the world, this guy is walking around the world, what an adventure that is. All you guys pulling him down now post what you have done other than uprooting from your own country and living in another, I am not an adventurer but even I have done that. Nicolas I think you are one of the worlds true adventurers keep going the very least you will get is fantastic memories and a story to tell your children. And maybe you can write a book about your ADVENTURE and earn a fortune. I wish you the very very best.

I get the distinct feeling that you guys really don't like each other. Life in Thailand must be bloody boring if all you have to do all day every day is slag each other off you are definitely a very unfriendly bunch that's for sure

All this talk about she had no insurance how do you know? Maybe the insurance company refused to pay because she failed to tell them about an illness 30 years ago you don't know the full facts. The poor lady died. Whether she is insured or not I have travelled many many rimes without insurance and I am sure I am not the only person. But there are some holier than thou elitists here. Poor lady.

I live in Philippines and the cases of foreigners being murdered are extremely low but reading all this in Thailand it does seem a very regular occurance not a particularly friendly place is it. I was coming to live there but the visa crap and all these deaths and beatings is putting me off I have to say. Chiang mai was my chosen destination maybe its safer there

I have been reading a lit of the posts here and I have to say I am getting a very bad view of Thai girls in general. When I was in UK I had a 3 year affair with a married Thai girl she was also bonking another guy near the end. So now I am thinking maybe some of you are right Thai girls do stray quite easily.

The other thing I can't get my head around is why would you ever fall in love with a bar girl, their whole life revolves around getting money out of men. Buy them a house? You got to be crazy. Men are just for money to them nothing else. You can take the girl out of the bar, but you can't take the bar out of the girl.

Don't go to one of these bloody places to start with they are not run by nice upstanding decent businessmen are they? Personally I think if you go to a girly bar you have to expect to be ripped off in the bar and ripped off again on bar fine and then again to pay the girl. Is it honestly worth it. You know I was going to come to Thailand to live but I see so much violence against foreigners there, that and the ridiculous visa system is putting me off. It really does look to me as an outsider Thai's don't like fireifnera very much. Every week I see reports of attacks there last week it was the drunk guy and then I think a swiss guy now this in just over a week its not good and it will make people think twice certainly has me thinking

To me I think your all putting the blame on the girl, what about the sad old creeps that pay for it. If there are men willing to pay for sex there will be women willing to sell it. Think about it, how many guys here have paid bar fine? And paid a girl, I bet no one would admit to it, but there must be thousands of guys putting their hand in their pocket and paying girls for sex or cyber sex. How many here have watched porn? I have that's for sure, but the girls get paid (more than the men actually) . if men didn't pay for sex women would be selling it. Now reverse it if women would pay you for sex and you could make a very good living being wined and dined then have sex and make a lot of money, would you be tempted? Many wouldn't I would lay money there would be millions that would.not the girls that are in the wrong its the men that pay for it.

I was really angree after he touched my leg and demanded sex he still charged me full fare after the act, disgraceful behaviour will make sure next time the taxi driver will not charge the fare. Disgrace

Ok on the advice of some posters here I went and bought a Rolls Royce the salesman showed me the free umbrella so I paid in cash saving on any credit charges, took the car home parked it outside my 2 bed council house, could not resist opening the door and taking out my free umbrella I very carefully opened the free umbrella when suddenly a car came speeding up the the road nearly knocking me over the free umbrella got tangled up on his passenger side mirror the drive did not stop even tho my free umbrella was being toe to shreds as it bounced off the road and back again I gave chase on footi did eventually retrieve my free umbrella but it had unfortunately been run over by several cars and trucks. So now I have returned to Rolls Royce told them what happened they refused to give me another free umbrella so I had no choice but to buy another Rolls Royce I will make sure nothing happens to my free umbrella I will not remove it from its space inside the door, that's where my free umbrella will stay.

I chose Chiang mai for same reasons pattaya to me seems very violent. My brother went there every year for about 10 years he stopped because he didn't like the tense atmosphere there. A good friend of mine lived there for years but has now moved to the provinces for the same reason. I read on tv and it doesn't look good to me

Don't care if it was foreigners or not but I can see on TV there is a lot of violence there, why would I even put myself at risk there, or are you going to tell me its as safe as anywhere else

Your post might make a little more sense if the incident in question actually involved a foreigner...but of course it didn't. But as you say, you're a new member and I'm sure the quality of your posts will improve given enough time.
