Just out of curiosity, have you made a System Transfer of your desktop yet? It's really cool and very helpful.

Thanks for your reply. I'm glad that Trans came up with his font problem and after installing Winareo Tweaker, I've got my favorite Comic Sans size 12 now everywhere and I found out that this program is even capable to stop W 10 updates completely.

Thanks a lot, Trans. I wouldn't have this size and font without you. Once you get back to the 1703, just don't update your network driver with IOBIT and your internet will work.

Plus using this program, you can do way more with the fonts than you can with your current version.

Please give it a try and use your preferable size. You'll be surprised. No virus, no malware, no problem. All fonts are changed to Comic Sans now which I'm also using for documents. Really great program.

I do a fair bit of self-cleaning too. I regularly check for programs I don't need and disable startup processes and programs. That's one of the features I like about my IOBit program. It tells me immediately if any program decides it wants to start up with my system... and also if my browser home page is about to be changed.

I respect CCleaner. It has improved a lot since its early days and is rather unobtrusive IMO.

I believe that IOBIT does all the tasks what your CCleaner is capable of. What I also appreciate of Advanced Ssytem Care Ultimate is the option "PC transfer to copy all from your desktop on your drive D, or elsewhere, should you plan a clean new install. Plus countless other good ones.

So why do you run two programs, if one is enough?

I'm only asking, we all have our opinion what might be good and what not. I think it's great to exchange experiences about programs what they're capable of and details about those we shouldn't even touch.

I just had an argument with a guy who wanted to tell me how to boot into safe mode by going a long and complicated way. I usually only right click on the Windows emblem, choose "run" and type msconfig . select safe more with networking and I'm good. And I'm using the same command to get back to my normal boot up.

So how do I uninstall MS Edge, One Drive ( and other MS apps I don't want), or as it appears you can ONLY disable them?  I ONLY want stuff I want not MS spyware, that their software won't uninstall even if I choose NOT to use it!!!

The OS is <deleted>, invasive to the max, and buggy as all he11!!  I should be able to choose what I run and have installed chewing up my storage, but you can't as far as I can see.  Tow the line and be happy if that is your wish, it's not mine!  What happened to freedom of choice, ahhhh didn't fit the Gates marketing strategy... REMEMBER Netscape... same same and not much different if you ask me!!

EVERY so called or self professed "EXPERT" on here is running something to do something, critisise it all you want but you all have sensitive data on your computer, do what you want.

Running MS operating systems and no aftermarket Anti virus etc. is a gamble I am not prepered to go with considering it's past reputation, no matter what the excuses!!

There's no need to uninstall One Drive, because it'a a free cloud storage program that enables you to have access to all your files and photos from any PC wherever you are. It's actually sad that they went down from 20 GB free space to only 5 GB, but still enough to keep important stuff there.

You can uninstall most stuff by using the control panel and should you have privacy reasons for not using W 10, here's the solution.

I'm running Kaspersky Internet Security to make sure that my data is protected. Of course am I aware that there's no 100 % protection.

          https://www.oo-software.com/en/shutup10

O&O ShutUp10 means you have full control over which comfort functions under Windows 10 you wish to use, and you decide when the passing on of your data goes too far.

Using a very simple interface, you decide how Windows 10 should respect your privacy by deciding which unwanted functions should be deactivated.

O&O ShutUp10 is entirely free and does not have to be installed – it can be simply run directly and immediately on your PC. And it will not install or download retrospectively unwanted or unnecessary software, like so many other programs do these days!

I let my butter soften so no knife cutting needed...

Here's what you're looking for. But please wait and let me try it out before you update yours.

Trans, you can use this program and you'll have more options that you had before. Free of viruses.

                  I've tried it right now.

    It was a bicycle.

And leaving aside for a moment the issue of whether there were other nearby hospitals that he "should" have been brought to, not Bumrungrad's fault that he was brought to them. They received an unconscious, seizing man with a head injury.  As far as I can tell, they delivered appropriate medical care, including one (not multiple as originally stated ) CT of the head to rule out an intracranial bleed (very possible and would have required immediate surgery to prevent death or brain injury) and simple Xrays of the cervical and thoracic spine (likely what the "neck" and "chest" films were actually about) -- proper medical practice is that after a traumatic injury the neck and upper body  be immobilized until spinal injury has been ruled out; failure to do this can result in spinal cord damage if there was any fracture to the vertebra, which they cannot know without an Xray.

They likely also administered drugs by IV to help reduce brain swelling, and when he came around and insisted on leaving they counselled him about danger signs and risk of a late bleed.  Frankly, I cannot find a single thing to fault with the treatment he was given, and nothing mentioned falls outside of the necessary and urgent. Those who believe otherwise need to read up on care of unconscious patients with head injuries.

The total cost of 50,000 baht -- half of this being for a head CT with contrast - is hardly excessive for the care given. Certainly it would have been less in a government hospital, but not by as much as one might think given the necessity of a head CT with contrast (even in a government hospital that will be at least 10,000 baht).

The government has been cracking down on private hospitals for failing to promptly provide emergency care to one and all who arrive in need of it and it appears that Bumrungrad has issued policies in support of this to their A&E  personnel.

This case is an unfortunate example of why, in the past (and in some places even today) private hospitals often fail to provide appropriate emergency care until/unless they are assurred first of payment.

There has been no suggestion that his passport has been taken by anyone. the police have the bicycle - what were they supposed to do, leave it lying in the street to be stolen?  They may indeed refuse to return it if the hospital has filed a complaint for non-payment as they are well within their rights to have done.

Let us hope the OP does the right thing and contacts the hospital and arranges a payment plan.

The crippled bicycle in the hospital's parking lot, or inside the ICU wouldn't be a good solution.

OP, stop riding bicycles and buy a Lamborghini.

This is another sad story of a foreigner trying to live in a country others see as a paradise.

It must be like hell for the OP. How many other foreigners are in similar circumstances?

I know that there are quite a lot and the number's increasing day by day.

And more and more Thais start to dislike foreigners for obvious reasons.

10bit driver booster works great for me, it found and fixed loads of drivers. My keyboard was "sticking" a few weeks back, found an old one, plugged it in and the program told me the driver for it was ancient and installed the latest driver...

Seems obvious to me we will all get a problem at sometime for various different reasons.

Sorry, Trans, but you're so wrong. Let's take my son't PC as an example. An older machine with W 10, the 1703 update on it, running well on an old IBM I bought second hand.

There's a time when I had to find out that Iobit's software really suckz. We did such an update of all drivers that were ancient and couldn't go online anymore.

I then installed a new W 10, but didn't know that you can easily uninstall the update in seconds, by right clicking on the "Updated" driver.

That will as well explain your problems with your net card and why you couldn't go online for a while.

Why would all drivers be from very old to ancient, after all the updates, etc? It makes you believe that you had to do it.

I gotta agree with guys on here who believe that most problems are homemade. You don't need all this free Avast, AVG, Ieomi, etc, because it only slows down your system at start up and it causes really huge problems.

It's a billion bucks business and of course do people lie like moddafaggas when it comes to their income source, a software company.

Trans, please don't trust those fishy companies and do not trust their products.

Your sticking keyboard was something else, maybe just too old? G'Day, mate.

Unusable and usually. There are always exceptions. Re: problems, Win 10, now, is new, ambitious, and still under development. It was released too early, IMO. Users often don't update all the drivers to the Win 10 versions. What with all the updates of drivers, app software, and relentlessly the OS, problems are bound to happen. That's one reason I've been staying w/ my ancient installation of Win 7, tuned, tweaked, and pimped to perfection. :) That said, Win 10 is installed on millions of computers now, though the market share is still only 27% vs Win 7's 40%. Though we always hear about problems, not about all the satisfaction, it's not clear whether the majority of users have them (I don't think so); how serious they really are; what really caused them; and how many are just cases of PEBCAK. I hear about the craziest "problems." Guy called me late a couple weeks ago crying that his Win 10 had changed over to French. I was getting ready to do the local settings dance but after a few more questions discovered he'd accidentally surfed to the French version of a fave website. :) Problem is, users get no training at all; they just jump in and eventually mess up some setting or can't find the right setting or try to "improve" or "fix" something or fall for scamware, etc. etc.

Many W 10 Pro users don't even know that they can change the whole PC into a different language. All you have to do is to download a language pack, set the language as the default language and make a restart.

When the PC boots up, you see all in the chosen language. isn't that great and easy to use for a Thai/English couple for example?

Just switch it to Thai, when wifey wants to use it to get her familiar with it.

But that's the problem with it. Too many people don't understand simple things.

'Cause they're ignorant, sold on paranoia, and living in the past. All that extra stuff's no longer needed, really. Some, like registry tuners, are just snake oil.

At least some of us us know how to use W 10 and if something doesn't work anymore there's enough information to get it solved.

My PC's and my notebook, nor any of my friends' machines with W 10 on them need to see a Thai "technician". Until now, they just don't get this version of Windows cracked..

I have only met very few so called technicians who could read English well enough to understand how to troubleshoot W 10.

Please have a look at a PC that comes back from a Thai repair shop with a just installed and "brand new OS" on it to understand how people can really mess up everything that's possible.

You'll find  Baidu as the browser, Baidu as AV, Baidu for everything on a fishy copy of Windows 8. Updates turned off. My school bought a new notebook at Advice and the technician ( I've got a huge problem to call them so) put W 10 on. Holy buffaloes....

I checked the system and it looked okay on the first day. It showed W 10 Pro and they didn't pay extra for the program. But already the first update found out what they'd done and the message: " Windows is not activated" showed up. I found my own way to handle it, after our computer teachers tried their tricks all day long.

The shop immediately stopped to put W 10 on and there's not one shop in my area where you can get a 350 baht W 10 Pro installation. They all have the same shitty set up software, already spiked with all sorts of viruses and Trojan horses. The Chinese crap they put on then does the rest. When you make the mistake and go to such a shop you're asking for troubles.

Some members here who believe that the free version of AVG plus Malwarebytes solves all problems when surfing through the X-hamster and other porn world helps them to bypass certain diseases, until the Chinese UC opens all sorts of browsers, of course in Chinese, deletes what it wants and there's no way for them to use their free AVG and Malwarebytes to get rid off that stuff.

A great technology is here with W 10 and the bugs seem to be solved. I'm sorry, but Linux is for people who do not really have to do serious stuff on a PC on daily basis. I don't think it's fair to make funny comments about people who like W 10.

And it's quite easy to understand why Windows users need AV protection. Because most people around the world are using Windows products, and many of these companies who sell AV software, are also producing viruses and Trojan horses.

It's a billion dollar market and it's incredible how many strange products they're selling and tell people what they'd need. It starts from Defragment programs and ends at registry tuners.

Not too long ago a guy with his Apple flatheadbook was laughing about me using Windows. Three weeks later, his notebook didn't work anymore because a very serious virus had switched him off his Apple tree. That was my time to start laughing, showing him my way cheaper Dell with Windows 10 on it.

Soon before I'd warned him because his Apple had sent countless-mails to all contacts in his list, and those who weren't aware what sort of mail it was , needed a new program a day later. But the guy still didn't get it.

Not too long ago, most Apple users were thinking that they'd be on the safe side of it. But when more and more users bought an Apple product, it turned out that also Apple machines are easily hack-able and not immune against viruses and Trojan horses.

Here're only a few posts from Apple customers who did experience problems with viruses. These days also Apple computers need an AV system.

Could you pleas explain how you're doing online banking with your so superficial system?

You have a point here but sadly I work part time and had to pay everything to cover my daughter's school fees. I cycle everywhere to save money. I cannot afford taxis. I work part time only but that will change next month. Some of us have hard times.

I start to understand the situation you're in and really feel sorry for you. Not only "some of us", plenty of people here have huge problems, especially when they'd lost all their money and refuse to go back.

Thousands of older expats without any insurance, and quite a lot of hospitals who keep sitting on their unpaid bills and it doesn't seem to get better.

Should you throw up, then please see that as a sign that you do have a serious problem and rest as much as you can. Make sure that you've got a friend/neighbor who's aware what happened, who'll pick you up in minutes, should you collapse. As Sheryl said, it can take a while.

It's good to see that you've obviously understood that the main mistake was done by your own actions and not by ambulance car drivers, or doctors of certain hospitals.

It's also not about who's caused the accidents now. You seem to be a great daddy who really takes care of his daughter. Please don't take her around on your bicycle. Please.....

I hope that your daughter's also covered with your new BUPA insurance and wish you the best that all goes well for your daughter and you.

You could try to come to a gentlemen agreement and pay only a part of the hospital fees. I'm pretty sure that they'll say yes to it, agree to let's say 20 K and will be okay with a little sum in monthly installments.

Please see it as wake up call. Your daughter could be without a  daddy now and please don't blame doctors for trying to make sure that you didn't have any life threatening problems.

Best of luck, I hope you'll like your new job and things will be fine. Cheers-

  11. My apologies for the hijacking of the OP's original post that really went through the forest.

After the upgrades of four machines, three PC's and a notebook, it took a few days to find out that i couldn't attach any files, or photos when sending an e-mail using Hotmail.

I've really tried all, but couldn't find the problem. I decided to get in touch with MS, because it's obvious that 4 computers can't have the same problem right after such an update.

The one techie promised me to not leave until all is done. But after an hour he had to pass and told me a very fishy story about servers. It must be a server problem, which I denied.

i gave him remote access and could watch him doing exactly what I had already done 25,000 times.

He finally gave up and refereed me to Outlook specialists. But also this techie guy had to give up after 30 minutes, because there's no way to fix the problem.

The 1703 comes with a new mail assistant program and while the techies tried their best, I checked on this program and was surprised that I could sent all types of files I wanted to, when using the

    new mail program.

You don't have to be a computer technician to understand that it's a homemade problem, made by MS.

Again ,they've sent huge updates out without doing their homework first.

I was the one who then pointed out that MS still has got a bug(s) in their new version and I was really surprised when I found out this afternoon that all computers are working well now.

They must have found the bug and sent all users a little update that fixed the issue.

All systems work great and I'm still trying to find out all the new programs. As already mentioned, there's a tool where you can leave MS ( and of course other on you spying guys) in the darkness.

OO is a program that doesn't have to be installed, nor does it install any other third party bs nobody wants to have.

If you believe that MS shouldn't know so much about your activities, please use this tool.

https://www.oo-software.com/en/shutup10 It seems to be a nice one.

Yeah, I know you can use the native Windows program, but I use Macrium Reflect. It's free and it's fantastic. It has saved me on many occasions. It's also great for cloning drives if you need to swap them.

You'd have to wonder why 3rd party software always works better than the native Windows apps. I tried Windows Defender for awhile but found it annoying and buggy, so I went back to my old favourite, Avast.

+ 1 Macrium fan. It's free, fast, reliable and you get your system back in minutes, not hours. The MS tool is in no way to compare to it.

The W 10 1703 update also comes with a much better AV system, but it doesn't really do all needed tasks. I've tried them all and AVAST drove me crazy with its " A virus has been detected voice."

I want an AV system to do its job without trying to tell me some rubbish. I'm using W Defender for periodic scans in addition with Kaspersky Internet security 2017.

They invented many new and very good tools, a VPN comes with the program as well.
