From Bangkok, I wanted to go again to Padang Besar but due to flood problems in the south, there are no trains from Bangkok to Hat Yai.
So, I'm in Udon Thani and tomorrow I'll go to Nong Khai border : did somebody go and back immediately recently ?
For my three previous entries in Thailand, I have gone and back in Padang Besar, then get a 30 days extensions in Bangkok for the last one. So I'm a little afraid they make me problem in Nong Khai... But I hate Vientiane and after loosing one page on my passport with the Lao Visa, the Thai visa will eat an other one... So I prefer by far go and back immediately and furthemore, I'm 90% sure to fly outside Thailand in the next weeks.
Thanks to people who can share their recent experience at this border point.

So, I have gone again to Pedang Besar and this time, didn't have problem at all. But this time, I have crossed the border to exit Thailand at road chechpoint (the thai man checked my passport for 5 minutes, I think he was looking for a fake one !) and go back one hour later at the railway station border (previous month, I went and backed at the same road border point). Even I already have done a go and back the same day one month before, I got 30 days again whithout even a question.

Many thanks to everybody (a little late, sorry, because eventually I have gone to malaysian border...). Well, my new visa is ending on December 13 and I'm wondering between a 1900 bahts extension and one more go and back to malaysian border (padang besar).
By the way, last time I didn't have problem at all at malaysian border : I have crossed the border to exit Thailand at road chechpoint (the thai man checked my passport for 5 minutes, I think he was looking for a fake one !) and go back one hour later at the railway station border. Even I already have done a go and back the same day one month before, I got 30 days again whithout even a question.
Right now I am in Nakhon Pathom : I have seen there is an immigration office but on Google Map it's more than 30 kilometers from the city ! So, if I choose the 1900 bahts extension option, it's easier to go to Lak Si Railway by train and then to the Bangkok immigration office. Not a problem for me to make a 30 mn walks and anyway, I had and won't never use a moto taxi !

Thanks for your answer BritTim. Not too afraid about a one hour hot walk, more of a rainy one these days ! I read on Immigration website there is a shuttle from the department complex gate to the immigration house ?

Hello,
Did somebody already tried to go from Lak Si Railway station to Immigration Dept. by foot ?
Otherwise, did somebody have gone by bus + foot, without using a taxi ? Seems I could catch the 304 close to the Lak Si Railway station ?
Thanks !

Ok, a little late, sorry, so it's how it ran : the thai man border said, as I had no thai visa, I have to sleep at least one night in Malaysia. I insisted there was no reason to sleep one night in Malaysia, as after one night in Malaysia I'll still have no visa. Also, I showed my thai address on my passport, and my previous thai visas. I also said I was not sure to stay still a full month in Thailand (which it's true, but as it doesn't depend of me, I didn't have a plane ticket to show when requested to me).
Eventually, I got a form to fill and then get the 30 days visa.

You do not usually need to give up on applying for an extension because of that ridiculous foreigner information form. Most immigration officials are just as aware of how stupid it is as we are. They are obligated to give it to you to fill in. They do not care if you leave most of it blank.
Yes, but this time a lady "jumped" on me, asked for my address in Lopburi and when I saw her the receipt hotel, told me it wasn't correctly filled and I have to go back to the hotel... Then, she said "I'm going to call the hotel for you", then asked for friends in Thailand, etc. I don't know if she was working for a tip but I was not ready for this.

Back page info on address and next of kin (fill in yourself)
You can come back pedang bezar same day, worst case scenario is they want a tip, just be prepared with funds and good polite manner and all should be fine, I always have a pdf of an onward flight if coming in on a visa exempt and shown it with funds couple of times ...
Ok, I'll try and let you know what happen. Thanks again !

Is what you said!
Where in your G7 passport does this address appear ?
There is only one address on a passport. So, instead to have an address in my G7 country, I have a thai address !

How did you get a Thai address on a G7 passport?
My G7 passport shows no address in Thailand or anywhere else.
Hello Fithman,
I'm living in Thailand in Chiang Mai for many years, so when my old passport was full, I have asked for a new one at my ambassy in Bangkok and I have given my address in Chiang Mai.

You don't need to loose money by using an agent or taking a taxi : take the bus 101 from Komtar hub and from the bus station Jalan Cantonment you have to walk about 10/15 minutes. Last time I have gone (2 months ago), in the morning it was open between 9h and 11h30, not 12h, to ask for the visa, and you collect it the following day in the afternoon. So, just plan to go for 9h, not for 11h as if you make a mistake with the bus or the walk direction, you could arrive too late.
Have a look here and you could see it's easy:http://www.travel-penang-malaysia.com/thai-embassy-penang.html
In front of the thai ambassy there is a mini van to make photocopies : the guy is nice but it's charging a lot for a simple copy (around 10 baht if I remember). By the way, you'll have to pay the Thai Visa (140 MR) in ringits, not in baht.

Have you gotten a 30 day extension of the 60 day entry from your tourist visa? You can do it at an immigration office for a fee of 1900 baht.
Thank you for your advice ubonjoe. I have done this for more than 10 years, but three months ago, I have gone to Lopburi immigration and they say to me there was new rules since one month and I have to fill a form where I must give the address of a friend in Thailand, and many other things, etc. As I had still five days on my visa, I have gave up and gone to Penang. Furthemore, I find 1900 bahts for 30 days is really not cheap. And so, I have finally stopped to request a 30 days extension.

You can come right back for a 30day visa exempt entry.
Would be wise have minimum of 20,000bt funds (technically 10,000 but not all immi see rules same) and some itinerary docs to substantiate your stay such as hotel bookings & onward flight, easy enough knock these together via pdfs and have printed copies, then you prepaired shold they ask questions, main concern is always money so don't be overly shy on showing the cash & some credit/debit cards at a good moment .Thanks for your answer BuckBee. In fact, as I have a thai address in Chiang Mai on my G7 passport, things can be a little easier for me : I mean I don't need pdf for hotel booking, etc. I'm just afraid they don't allow an exit and an entry the same day. As far as I know, this is not possible anymore at Nong Khai border for example... but things are different from one border to another.

Hello,
3 months ago I have gone to Penang and after ten days, go back to Padang Besar without Visa and I got 30 days (I'm from G7) without problem.
2 months ago, I have gone to Penang again, but this time I got a Visa at the Thai Embassy.
Monday (October 17), I have to leave Thailand again and as I'm not sure to stay more than one month again in Thailand, I would like go and back the same day at Padang Besar : did somebody try this ?
Right now, I have 4 used thai visa and 1 enter without visa on my G7 passport.
Otherwise, did somebody stay few days on Pedang Besar, on Malaisian side in a cheap hotel ?
Thanks !
-
Ok, done : no problem at all. They just ask me where I was going, but after they put the stamp on my passport. I'm from G7 and got 30 days.
It's my first visa run on this passport and I have three thai visa on it. Also, the address on my passport is a thai address.
Thanks again to everybody

Thanks to everybody : I'll go to Padang Besar without visa and will post my experience

Last month out at pedang B. In Malaysia 2 days entered at Satun from Langkawi 30 day stamp. Then extended stay last week 30 days uk passport.
Thank you for this information
-
I did it twice, once at PB train station immigration and once at car border immigration (in and out same day), but both with a newer pasport not to many stamps in it. Both crossings in about 2 minuts without any problems, get stampend 15 days. No money or ticket needed but i had it prepared with me. Both crossings 2015.
Thanks ! This is the point : things could be harder in 2016... But it's not the same day and all my previous Thailand entrances were with visa.
-
Unless you have recently done several visa exempt entries you will not have a problem entering the country.
Thanks for your answer
-
Nobody has done or tried to do this ?
-
Yes, thanks, I'm from G7, I know it's 30 days, I wasn't clear, what I mean is "some chance to get the visa run"... or more chance to be rejected ? Or zero chance to cross the border without visa ? Or no problem ? Or depending of what is inside your passport ?
-
Hello,
I have crossed the border from Thailand to Malaysia at Padang Besar ten days ago.
I'm thinking to go back to Thailand by the same way without visa : some chances to get a 30 days visa run ?
Better : did somebody have done it ?!???
Thanks !
Go and back immediately at Nong Khai border
in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits

Many thanks for your answer ubonjoe :) Seems good : you think they look the number of visa exempt entries by calendar year ?
