  1. Blackberry plants will not survive in the climate here.  They need the cold winter temperatures to, germinate, growth, and flowering / fruiting cycle.

They are also an invasive plant.. so if by some chance they did grow they would pose a serious environmental problem after the seeds were spread about by birds.

Easier to go the supermarket and by some frozen ones.

Great attitude! Let's not bother to try grow anything, what's the point when we can just buy everything at the supermarket.

  2. Hi djayz, what seeds you got? I don't think you will get blueberry to germinate unless you lower your soil ph to around 4.5 to 5.5.
Just happens I got some soil conditioner for blueberries just landed today, it's for me and a mate but I can spare a little if you want to try your seeds again.
I believe there is a blueberry variety called blueberry burst that is from Australia and is available in Thailand but I'm yet to find it.
Adding vinegar to your water before watering is also supposed to help in lowering soil ph and mulching with pine needles also helps.
Starting mine next week so I'll let you know how it goes.
It can take a while for blueberries to germinate.

  3. As a self confessed BOF I have to say I do actually like quite a lot of today's stuff.
I just like, for my own amusement, to post something like 'first name WHO' just to read the almost instant responses from some of the younger posters who immediately jump on my post extolling the greatness and exceptional talents of of their favourite singers.
My dad used to do to me when I was younger and was always amused at my defence of the 'pop stars' of my day until I realised what he was doing.
My dad has gone now, long time ago, so I'm just getting my own back and having my own wee chuckle at some of the responses.
Try not to take life and pop stars so seriously lads, some day, and sooner than you might believe you will be the BOFs .
To be honest I used to think Trans was a young whipersnapper disco singing whirling dervish.
    :stoner:

Truth be known I much prefer a lot of older music and personally think Ed and his ginger beard are a pain in the ass, the bloke gets everywhere in his lego house.

  4. I'm almost 70 and go by the name of Old Croc, but It still surprises me to see the dinosaurs on this forum rush to print to proudly declare they have never heard of this or that, as if their lack of knowledge of the current world is somehow proof that all is inferior.
If I don't know about something, or someone, I look it up, so I don't come across as a silly old fool living my life in the past. (Doesn't always work!)

Couldn't have put it better Old Crock it's nice to see some members are still with it.
What a bunch of boring old farts!

  5. Some rootstocks do much better with certain varieties..
I have a few which don't grow at all.

Grafting can be done when the tree is growing well pushing new leaves all the time. Best is to use parafilm or buddingtape, the buds will grow straight through it when they are pushing.
You need developed buds though, wrap them in film and graft on the rootstock/tree...in full sun is no problem.

Best is to prepare the scionwood, cut the leaves all off, wait some days for the leaf-ends to drop, wrap it in parafilm/budding tape and graft it.

The tape is the trick, it has to be soft so the buds can grow through it...if you use another film you might need to help the buds getting trough if you see them swell, then you make a small hole in that tape so it can get through.

Thian, would you say it's better to wrap the whole scion in parafilm or just the graft union and then popping a plastic bag over to keep it from drying out?
How many buds would you leave on the scion? I've seen videos of just 2 or 3 buds left on with only about 4 to 5cm of scion and some leaving the scion up to around 5 inch. What do you think is best?
    Junglebiker what are your thoughts?

I find it hilarious that those attached to lesser performing teams lower in the table jump in here and attempt to stick the boot in because manu has lost one game, Mourinho is a season behind most of the (contending) others when it comes to team building so "still" running 2nd is quite an achievement.

In this particular match the ref ignored some hard careless challenges that many other refs would not have tolerated, Pulling - Pushing - Charging with no attempt on the ball, that sort of football might be ok in the lower divisions - it should not be tolerated in EPL

Of course it should, football is a mans game, too many fancy pants puffy footy players now adays. Town came out and hit man u hard and they didn't like it...... Bunch of over paid puffs.

  7. Can you describe what your trying to achieve, your very vague.

Just another experiment, I want to try lower some soil to between 4 and 5 ph.
Don't know what the soil is at the moment as I'm out of town and still waiting for my tester to come but when I start I want to get cracking as soon as so if anyone has any ideas I can start thinking about what I'm going to do.
