I would not worry about what they said if you have not had problems entering the country before using your new passport. It sounds like nonsense to me.

Well it turns out interpol and thai immigration have recently integrated their systems.  Interpol has my new passport flagged and on my attempt to return to Thailand I was denied entry.  Being Friday afternoon I now have to wait until Tuesday to go to the embassy here in Vientiane to attempt to sort this out.  So much for. My hotel and plane ticket I already bought back to Chiang Mai.  I believe the immigration official had the ability to still stamp me in however she refused

  2. So I just went through immigration leaving Nong Khai and going to Vientiane.  I plan to return with a non o but apparently I was flagged because last year when I was waiting for my new passport from Chiang Mai US embassy I ended up losing the old one.  I had to get a police report to take to immigration before they transferred my visa stamp to my new passport however it seems the old police report is in the immigration system.  The ladies said It May be difficult to come back into Thailand now and I have a 1 month old I need to get back to ASAP.  Immigration took the police report when I got my stamp transferred January 2018 and I have gone out of country on holiday without problem or mention of a flag.  I have not heard of or had any other issues with my passport.  Any advice or help hugely appreciated.

  3. I have been in Thailand a few years on an Ed visa but now have a new baby and want to switch over to a non o visa.  Im having difficulty understanding which embassy is best for this and easy to get to from Chiang Mai.  I don’t have 400k in my Thai bank account and don’t transfer money monthly, however, I do make periodic transfers of around 150k baht every few months which would average to more than 40k a month.  I am flexible to make monthly deposits if that is the answer.  I can prove income in the US to my bank in the form of monthly deposits from tenants and the US gov but do not get w2 income statements.  I am understanding that I can only get a 90 day non o and then apply for the yearly once back in Chiang Mai?  So any help would be appreciated and sorry if I am being redundant but I’ve looked over the forums without being able to hone in on solid answers yet.  My name is on the birth certificate for the Thai child.

  4. So I did the same thing in January of this year.  I had just gotten a reentry permit about to go out of country on holiday and in my excitement I washed my passport the day before leaving as it was still in my pocket from getting my reentry permit.  My only page that was still legible was the photo laminated page, my reentry permit was washed out.

I got laid into at Bangkok immigration when leaving saying that I may have trouble gettting back in.  Going to another country was easy as my first page was still in good shape.

When I returned to Thailand and approached immigration at the airport I immediately apologiz f and explained that the very next day I would be at the Chiang Mai US consulate to order a new visa.  The officer stamped me in on my reentry permit thankfully and I got my new passport from us embassy in one week.

       * I also ended up throwing out my old passport by accident before I received the new one, the consulate was nice enough to write me a letter explaining my stupidity and I had to get a police report in order for them to transfer my stamp to the new passport.  If you don’t lose your old one it’s quite easy to transfer the stamp
