Note to @John8, if flying in, you must have 20K Baht worth of cash (any currency-type) on your person before you board the plane, as there are no ATMs between debarkation in Thailand and the immigration-checkpoint.  Showing a credit-card or similar won't do you any good - you must have Cash or Travelers Checks to show.  Although it is unlikely, people have been denied entry for not having the cash to show - even with a valid METV in their passport.

I am glad I asked about this here.. Clearly I misunderstood how a METV visa works..

So if I fly out of Thailand on my 59 day and come back 2 days after, what will I get when I enter Thailand, 60 days or just 30?

And can I do that again after 59 days and get 60 or 30 days more?

That doesn't matter.  What matters is if you will go to your immigration-office for an extension at any point during your stay.  If so, you will need to do TM-30 reporting, first working-day after you move - but, again, only IF your local immigration office enforces TM-30 reporting and IF you want to apply for 30-day extensions of your 60-day on-entry permitted-stays.

Do I not get 3 x 60 days with a METV visa? something I misunderstood? Don't I have to go to immigration 2 times to get stamps?

I get 60 days when I enter Thailand first time, then 60 days more when I get the new stamp at immigration after 60 days .. and one more time ?

It's my first time getting a METV visa, I never been more then 1 month in Thailand

Reading Thai visa regulations can be really confusing..

I will soon be applying for a METV visa with 2 months hotel reservation because I am not sure I will get the apartment.

But if I get it, my apartment manager will inform immigration about me living there? The embassy in my country only got the hotel information..

Should I show my apartment rental contract to the immigration officer when I go there after the first 60 days?

I am only planning to stay 6 months

If I choose to change address after a few days in Thailand to an apartment instead of a hotel, do I need to report my new address at the immigrations office right after I move in to the new apartment?

And if I haven't reported new address before the 60 day METV renew, and then show my apartment address instead of hotel address when I do the 60 day renew, what happens then?

And does it affect my METV visa time in anyway? new stamp with changed departure time?
