Another vitally important observation designed to ramp up the bloviating over the absurdly trivial.

Whatever. Fact is the service at every shop at every level is crap. Part of the experience of leaving the first world for the third I suppose.

  2. I worked for 711 hq in my home country and I'll give you a tip that not many know.

711 will be happy to stock their stores with any reasonable requests if enough people ask and it only takes 10 requests. All it takes is an email through to their human resource dept.

    Thailand 711 head office email.

    [email protected]

711 will then note that enough are asking for lets say Branston pickles , in a certain area and stock the stores in that area. Being a global player they have the buying power to keep prices down. Our local 711 out near Khon Kaen now stocks Marmite and Newcastle Brown Ale with Vegemite arriving shortly.

  3. Ive heard by a friend who got a single tshirt shipped to Thailand from family in america he paid 600b tax.  He had to pay it because it was a family thing but not happy about it.  The tax was more than the tshirt.

There's now huge clampdowns on imported items through the mail.

It's called ObamaCare, and the terms and conditions are set in stone. Motorcycle accidents should be covered and not an option. Pre existing conditions are covered and there should be a large deductible to prevent fraud and abuse. Starting this year, the Government won't cover extraordinary costs and therefore the premiums will of course go up. How difficult is it to understand that you don't travel out of your country into any other without appropriate health care coverage? If you can't afford the insurance, don't travel. I hope Thailand does in fact roll out the requirement for farangs to be insured to get VISA's, most definitely the longer term stay VISA's such as Retirement.

Whats obama care got to do with an australian in thailand ?

The context is obviously a medical evacuation on a private jet. All this talk about airlines is out of same. She was cheated by her insurance carrier, the Thai hospital(s) either didn't get approval for the direct billing or simply cared about her well being. It's strange again to me that a farang can get this treatment without prepayment. I would have thought they would put her in a pick up truck and roll her out at the embassy in Bangkok. You farangs come here and think the Thai's have an obligation to take care of your medical needs. Disgusting all of you. At least this woman bought what she thought was travel insurance. The insurance company should be outed and shamed for what it is. Excluding motorcycle accidents in a policy for a traveler to a country, any country, but especially a country in SEA should be criminal as in fraud.

Your facts are all over place as is your opinions of others ramble

Did you read her terms and conditions from her insurance provider? No you didnt

True but you also need to declare your intention to be riding a bike overseas which jacks your premium. Hate to be a narc but you see it in indo, thailand and all over Asia people go there get pissed, jump on something they have never operated, dont wear correct safety gear and generally come from countries where people will give way to a motorcycle. Then involve themselves in behaviours they would never undertake back home. Im not saying she was any of those things but she was definitely not covered in this instance. So, no pay out. Her family should be paying not crying poor.  Zero sympathy here

Yep it does put the insurance up riding a bike and possibly you won't get covered at all because of the risk factor

Then a loophole to not pay up perhaps you'd also need an Australian standards helmet instead of those ice cream container jobs everyone seems to wear

Here we go again, another brain dead tourist no insurance.

No license means no insurance, when will people stop and think before they hire motorbikes?

On facebook her friend is asking for funds to fly her home business class !! not plain old animal class.!!

In her case yes she's stupid but Australians can use their Aussie car and motorbike licenses in Thailand and will be covered under their travel insurance

Assuming it is actually a bank loan. If you're in Thailand it's easy enough to visit the lending bank and get the lowdown. Since it seems you're not here at present there will be associated paperwork and demand letters, ask to see them (emailed scans/photos). Obviously they will be in Thai, you can get them translated ask at a local (preferably Thai) restaurant.

Banks do tend to take a long time to actually foreclose, but since we don't know how aged the debt actually is it's difficult to say what will happen next, or when.

Of course there are other, more shady, lenders out there whose collection techniques are less subtle and whose interest rates are also unsubtle.

And of course, the buffalo could be sick.

A bank will disclose that personal information about 1 of their customers?
