Why on earth would you expect Thais to learn English to make your life easier? You are in Thailand. People speak Thai here, not English. It is one of the difficulties of living in a foreign country where you don't speak the language. You came to live here, they didn't;t beg you to come here. Learn to speak Thai.
They are Immigration. Dealing with foreigners. How can they do there job properly without speaking another language.

Why not just rent a small house in a neighbouring province - Buriram - and apply at their offices instead?
Why should I? How can I renew my work permit with a Buriram address?

And us other poor sods have to put 800,000 in the bank or show 65k income. Oh dear.
I'm not over 50. I just gave my experience of trying to extend at Nakhon Ratchasima Immigration by way of income.

So, what was the result? They make you get a Non-B type extension, instead of a Non-O based on marriage?
In general, IOs seem to hate processing marriage-based extensions of stay, because of the reams of pointless paperwork, sending off for approvals, etc. Many have applied for them, but if showed enough bank-money, were given retirement-based extensions that they did not want, instead. I would guess this is just that office trying to avoid doing their job - or maybe fishing for you to go to an "agent" so they get some pocket-money for their trouble.
He would not be the first. At Jomtien, you can also be refused, even if you have met every qualification. The result was I had to deposit 400,000b in my bank. Not really fair when I pay tax & social security, but what can I do?

Are you really trying to claim that a 40,00Baht income, honestly earned and provable was denied as being acceptable for an extension of stay based on marriage? Really?
Yes 100% 2 years in a row. Have shown tax returns, social security payments and bank statements. Why would I lie?

What a joke!! Or you are misunderstanding? Why would anyone need a Thai work permit to receive a salary in another country and transfer it to Thailand???
Its no joke. I live and work in Thailand and was told by immigration the income has to come from overseas. What don't you understand?
-
Hope your not in Nakhon Ratchasima. I have tried for 2 years with a work permit earning 40,000b p/m. Each time was told income has to come from abroad. Good luck

Thanks for your info.

Hi, got a non O visa multi entry from Savanakhet last month. I am wanting to convert at local immigration by way of marriage so I don't have to leave every 90 days. Can this be done at any time or does the visa need to be expiring.
Thanks

Hi, anyone have any experience on obtaining a non b in Savannakhet? If so what documents are required from employer and employee.
Thanks

I told then this but they insisted it has to come from overseas. Thanks for the advice. Will try again!

Hi, I have just been refused a marriage extension for the second year at Nakhon Ratchasima Immigration. I have a Non O visa issued at Savannakhet by way of marriage. I work for a company in Thailand, pay tax and social security on 40,000b p/m. Last year and today they told me the 40,000b must come from overseas, not Thailand. Can anyone confirm this or provide up to date info on the documents needed?
Thanks in advance

No one is saying agents are illegal.
They seem to get the required stamp.
Do you want to stay in LOS, or stick to your "principles"?
Exiting the country to get a new visa would probably cost the same as an agent.
I will stick to my 'principles'. Thanks for your advice

Thanks for everyone's input on this. I've decided to go back next month with 3 months tax evidence and print out the relevant police orders and try again. The current 2 month extension they gave me expires on 10th Dec. Do I have to wait until the 10th or can I try before?
Thanks

try an "agent".
If anybody knows of any around here I could look into it. I'm not looking to do anything ilegal but would be nice to have somebody who knows the law and stand up to these people.

Could this be done in a different province?

Believe this may actually be the issue - he does not have such income tax return/payment receipt to offer as proof of income yet?
I only have 2 months. I read it should be 3 months of tax and SS receipt but they didn't give me that option. They said 40,000b pm has to be earned in my home country not Thailand

Do you have a link of the order in Thai? Thanks for your help
