im confused! re no longer qualifies if before 1st Feb, which mine was so therefore that suggests mine is non qualifying

And even if it does qualify Im not seeing why its worth keeping nb based on what youve said . what would it qualify for, other than just an "unlimited data package"?

because without knowing the terms of said package how can one evaluate whether its worth keeping the other one for? I feel im missing some key information here. Im not questioning your knowledge on such matters, or you r advice, but im just not getting it sorry

    thanks

Referring to someone who ports their number to another network.... They will have a new SIM with no history.

You have kept your old SIM, rather than porting the number to a new network.

Thanks.  Yes, what you say is true.  I've been checking with some techie friends as to whether my laptop is suitable for Win. 10 and the consensus is that Win 10 is my better option.

I just get annoyed at MS's coercive leg breaking to get their vassals to obey.

If you will move to Windows 10, for Windows 10 Pro

I remember the 8.1 update was available in the Windows Store and not in the normal Windows update section.

    Maybe that helps.

But at some stage you should get used to the idea that you won't be able to use that forever...

    Strange post.

See you saw fit  to swerve my earlier post,so which government took the responsibility of fire checks away from the fire brigade and gave it to the council,( as you state )?

If you think that you know something, why don't you post it?

    Quote

All housing authorities are responsible for regulating standards in privately rented homes, while those who are still landlords themselves are also responsible for the homes they own. Along with responding to fires, all fire authorities have two roles: responsibility for enforcing the law in multi-occupied residential buildings and for educating communities about how to reduce the risk of fire. Where a property could be under both council and fire authority regulation, they should work together to decide who will lead on any enforcement action.

So what is the point that you are hoping to make?

my 'old' tru(as of today!)number was originally registered about 2 or 3 years ago ie before the 1st Feb 2019 so im assuming from what you say above it would not qualify and hence is useless going forward??. Any different let me know please thanks

It does qualify, as I stated earlier. Just for different unlimited packs. So worth keeping.

You can keep the SIM active by

good to hear from you KneeDeep

......they said that above promos 4mbps and 10mbps are unlimited internet but for new or switching customers only, I asked what for current customers and they only had packages with limited internet. "

ok fair enough, but hopefully you can see how i misunderstood re above quote. As per many promos in UK(not just mobiles) really are for *new* customers only. There's even a TV advert which mocks such policy making

    anyway all good now, thanks

That comes under 'switching customers', as by porting your number, you are 'switching' to their network.

Current customers would need SIMs activated before 1st of Feb/March to qualify for unlimited data packages.

Though none of those packages can match unlimited 10 Mbps and calls for 2400 baht over twelve months..

    Xaos, not your fault but....

I called tru 1242 yesterday and I explain I tru customer already for 5+years. They said 3 times I can have this promo anyway as long as new sim card/number which I was always ok with. The way they put it to you i think was you had to not be a customer of them before(or switch from another network). I wasn't sure if I believed them because I have had so much duff information from tru last 5years!

So I went today to tru shop in Hua Hin old town not market village. They give me package no problems, but as we all know on a new sim so new number, 200 baht per month for unlimited 4g data at speed of 10 mega bits Ps(not 10 mega bytes Ps) or 1.25MB/s to be clear.

Can renew monthly for up to 12 months max(then seek new promo) included all calls to all networks in Thailand

*(note to self.... Must find out international call rate to UK tomorrow. And maybe each national call is limited to 15 mins I'm not sure?) *

So I'm a happy bunny now and proof that one should not always believe what tru call centre say.

Thanks to all who contributed to this topic.

You appear to have misunderstood Xaos. H was referring to being able to subscribe using his existing number. The only way to do so is by porting his number to another network and signing up to that promo on the new network.

The caveat of course, is that he no longer qualifies for the older unlimited packages, if his number was originally registered before the 1st of Feb.

So hopefully, for him, there will be a suitable promo in a year's time when this one expires.

Sorry after looking the first on my original post I mentioned two sims... After looking closely the first linked sim does show a restriction to provinces (I have never seen that and wonder how they effect it?)... My second linked  sim has no province restrictions...

IMO, my older Dell notebook lightens up when I'm using the option of System Mechanic to use all cores.

My newer Dell desktop seems to be a bit faster, but after reading some articles, running W 10 Pro will automatically use all cores when needed and I'm quite irritated what's true and what's not.

Using the "msconfig" method to use 4 of my cores instead of 1 doesn't seem to make a difference on Windows 10.

"If you are using Windows 10, the box next to “Number of processors” will normally be UNchecked. This is because Windows is configured to utilize all cores whenever a program has the ability to use them."

Using System Mechanic's settings on Additional Power Settings and using "Ultra Performance by engaging all CPU cores at full clock speed" seems to have influence on the speed. At least on my older notebook.

There's so much information on the internet that I have my doubts if this "msconfig" setting actually changes much.

A question to software professionals. Does System Mechanic's setting really change your PC's speed?

And is it really worth to activate more cores when running W 10 Pro?

Did you completely ignore my reply to you?

I talked you through both System Mechanic and your msconfig idea. Corroborated by the article to which you have linked.

If you’re using Windows 10, all of your processor cores will be enabled by default if your BIOS/UEFI is set correctly. The only time you would use this technique is to limit cores.

My PC and notebook are much faster, including booting and shutdown. That tells me that not all cores were enabled.

Okay, I might be wrong, but appreciate a faster PC and notebook.

I've done this task with a nice program called System Mechanic that has the option to activate all cores before I even tried this one.

System Mechanic is also marketing nonsense. All it does is change the Power Mode.

    https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/4026458/windows-10-change-the-power-mode-for-your-pc

Useless on a PC as you would have set to High Performance anyway.

Their Ultra Mode claims to shut down other services if the PC is under heavy load, in order to improve performance.

You can shut extraneous Apps and services down yourself if really necessary.

You might choose Balanced on a laptop to save battery power.

Oh god, thank you very much for pointing that out! My sincere apologies!

P.S. You don't have to be a computer specialist, because this setting can't destroy anything when changed.

Just try and see if there are more numbers when you go to the 1. If it goes to 4 activate it and see how fast your machine is.

It's really just a price issue.

It doesn't activate anymore cores when needed, it's a factory setting.

    Erm....no.

You left out the step that yours showed '1' but the box was not ticked. So it doesn't mean that one is being utilised. It's just a number that happens to be in that box. The number only has an effect when you tick that box.
