Sorry Peter, "as they will look for your Vietnam visa when checking in" who will? My British passport allows a 15 day stay without any visa.
-
Quick question if I may...I need a visa to visit Vietnam on my Irish passport. Can I arrive by air from Thailand and present my British passport?
-
My understanding is that for the consequent extensions, you can apply 45 days in advance.
-
I applied for my Non O at Phnom Penh. I provided details of my private pension only and a criminal record check. That was all. I did my extension at CM with a letter from the Irish embassy. That was 3 years ago so things may have changed...but I would say, based on my experience, PP would be the place to apply.

I can always add to the balance. It's a real bummer doing this though...30k in a UK tracker fund could net me £1200 divi plus any capitol appreciation...but that's life I guess.

as long the rate is keeping it 800 K baht value during the time of pre & after seasoning + the 400K seasoning remaining months... possible maybe , but how you go to anticipate on that ?
I will simply transfer £30k...I'm hoping they pay a little interest on it...

That's great to know Joe...I'll pop to bkk bank next week and try and open a sterling account - I already have a current/savings account so this should be straight forward.

Why put the exact amount if the price fluctuate? It's a little bit like those who send 65K baht and complain they got rejected because the bank charge 500 baht fees. People complain about the exchange rate. I am simply pointing out that you don't need to exchange your money.
So just to be clear - you are saying I can transfer from the UK a sum equivalent to 800000baht into a sterling account (Bangkok bank) and immigration will accept this as proof of income provided it has seasoned ?

Would someone be so kind as to post a link to the TM30 website. Thanks.

Bugger, thanks guys...time to re plan trip.

Can I ask a not so relevant question please.
My extension based on retirement needs renewing by December 7th. I intend to fly to KL for a 3 month stay and buy a single re-entry permit prior to departure...I will fly on 7th of October. Does my extension to stay 'freeze' as I'm out of the country or expire because it has not been renewed? Anyone any idea?

Time, costs and stress are always an issue...thanks Marty.

That was my next question Marty, thanks for answering. I was wondering what the advantages/disadvantages were. If my embassy stops the affidavit letter, then I will apply for the O-A visa based on retirement. Thanks again guys.
-
Thank you fish tank...sorry to be a pain. My mind only works in binary mode.
-
Thank you Joe, thank you Marty.
Sorry to be so dim (low IQ). Once the O-A visa has expired and you applied and were granted an 'extension of stay' based on the said O-A visa, how many 1 year extension are you allowed ? Can you apply for an extension of stay' indefinitely? based on the original O-A visa.
-
So providing you leave Thailand once a year, does the Non O-A last forever ? probably a stupid question...sorry,
-
I've asked my gf to look out for any more of those seed like pod things...apparently they're only 1 baht per kg and taste really good...but you can't eat them straight away...for some odd reason you have to leave them overnight...they're supposed to be tasty when had for breakfast...I'll let you know ????

Thats just the beginning too. Even if you have a legit visa, they keep throwing roadblocks at you, like the TM30, until you dont have a life anymore except for doing stuff for your 'visa'. Never having any piece of mind anymore, always being scared and living in fear about the 'visa'.
I noticed that too. I was walking around town earlier and saw a truck full to the top of what seemed like some kind of giant plant pods or seeds...also somehow, my gf just doesn't seem the same nowadays, she's changed somehow, hard to put my finger on it...she just awoke one morning and changed into a dull, emotionless, none loving woman, except she no longer asked me for any money for everyday needs and when I ask her if she needs any money, she just gives me a blank distant stare...one by one I've noticed this happening to many Thai's I know...what's going on?

Hope I'm not being cheeky Jack, could you post back what you find out please.
-
Can I please ask...what interest rate do you get on the FCD account at BKK bank?
-
Thank you very much Joe. I'll just buy a single then. Cheers Joe.

I don't want to start a new thread...so I'm just asking a quickie on this one.
I have a 1 year extension to stay based on retirement.
It expires in July and I would need to renew it.
If today I buy a multi entry permit for 3900baht, does it last me 1 year from today or does it expire in July along with my current extension ?
-
"You mean something like a check-box asking... 'Is your Visa Status Sufficient?' or something more detailed?"
Exactly. Just a check box, this would ensure compliance. If I booked 2 singles...one out of BKK and then one back in to BKK, this situation doesn't arise.
