Buy an electric clipper online, use a mirror, and shape it yourself. Nautical style works for me.

The main advantage of that style is it's neat, and one only has to shave the non-bearded areas every 2-3 days.

I have the clippers I just want someone to start me off then I can keep up the maintenance ( I like the 2-3 day schedule)

  8. Hi All,

Does anyone know if the dentists in Nong Khai are open (I believe they closed because of covid 19).

In particular the one just past the railway (on the left hand side) coming from the bridge (I think it is called Thai Smile, but not 100% sure).

Just broke a Crown and need to get it fixed.

    Thanks in advance

  9. Let me guess, they want to copy the 30 day "waiting period" to get the final stamp from the marriage extensions next. After that add photos of yourself next to your bed, etc. Enjoy the "easy retirement extensions", soon as painful as the marriage extensions.
Already happening in Nong Khai (except for the 30 day wait)

  10. Here's my 2p on the parity/Goalposts front:

I (16 trouble free years years here) was sent home like a naughty schoolboy to retrieve 'book bank' despite having printouts dated that morning in my possession; and was scolded again by a woman half my age for redacting the account number upon my return; indeed they wouldn't accept redacted paperwork full stop.

A visa for my wife on the other hand sailed through without question, having been prepared in the same meticulous fashion before being submitted to UK ECO via their normal channels for her first visit to UK in more than a decade.

To me this smacks of  Power (Uniform, Shiney  boots, Unearned Wings & Medal Ribbons);  Incompetence/No clear guidelines and in some cases a decree of racism.

    I agree [emoji106]
  11. UPDATE
Here is the update to my original post.
I went to Nong Khai immigration (21/12/2016) for my annual visa extension (retirement).
I took the extra documents I was asked to provide on a sheet of paper the io gave me (photos, map)
During the process I was asked for my a copy of my wifes ID card and her Tabian baan (which I did not have (not on the sheet given to me in November).
I stated I did not have a landlord as I owned the house,(I said I know I cannot own land but can own the house) to which he replied you cannot own house I AM THAI PEOPLE, YOU ARE FOREIGNER. I asked him when this rule came into force, he said six months ago (Liar liar a*se on fire) I was there a month before and it was not on the sheet he gave me.
He then showed me someones application who had already done this (wifes ID).

As it is one hour away to my home I had to return the next day with the documents. The next day some one in front of me was doing his application and the io said look he has his wifes ID.
Ok, so.. its not the taking of the extra documents but the fact that when you turn up with all the things already asked for, the io can ask for something else (no lead in time for the changes).
I spoke to other people (farangs) at the Nong Khai immigration centre and they all said the same, this new guy is causing a lot of problems.
I also had to fill in another form (like the TM7 ) and a form (in Thai) saying that I was told about the new overstay rules (I had to ask the io what the form was as I don't read Thai).

    Merry Christmas to all [emoji268][emoji268][emoji268]

  12. Have the rules for the retirement extension changed?

The reason I ask is because I went to Nong Khai immigration on 16/11/2016 and was given the list of requirements for the retirement extension and, added to the bottom of the list was two new items.

    1) photos of the inside and outside of the house (with the applicant in the photos.)

It says X3 and I am not sure if its three photos of every room or just three photos.

    2) a drawn map from immigration the applicants home

    Similar to the marriage extension.

Is this happening everywhere or just Nong Khai immigration?

    Anybody have any ideas [emoji4]

    Take care

    Steve

By the way I am British.
  13. Kindles are for sale in Thailand but not at anything resembling USA prices. The $79 basic Kindle can only be purchased in the USA (per talk with Kindle-Amazon sales person). The next one up is Kindle Touch for $99; the cheapest I have seen listed in Thailand is 4500 baht.

Wow thats quite a mark-up, glad I know someone in the states that can purchase and bring it over for me, (got to wait until the end of July though and I am having withdrawl symptoms already :) )

    Thanks for the info

  14. Hi Guys,

Does anyone know if there is anywhere in Thailand that can repair/replace the screen of my Kindle, I am lost without it.

If anyone has a phone number it would help a lot.

BTW I live in Nong Khai and assume if there are any repairers they will most likely be situated in BKK.

    Thanks for any help guys

  15. Hi Guys,

Thanks all for the great info. thumbsup.gif

Stayed at the King hotel 700baht/night,,

I was quite impressed by the hotel, the room and the staff. I would definitely stay again.

Found quite a lot of bars (all within walking distance of the hotel)and tried the Robot pub, all ok drunk.gif

All in all a nice place would maybe visit again later in the year.

    Thanks again wai.gif

    Steve

Great followup and I am sure the guys who helped you out appreciate it greatly. That is a nice area and if you ever feel even more adventurous you might follow the back roads all the way to Nan and on to Chiang Rai.

Thats what I like about this forum, there has always been someone there with the help I've needed.

Great Guys, Great help and Great ThaiVisa WPFflags.gif

    Thanks

    Steve
