  1. Pazza followed me from my school days (a nick name for Parry).

I could never get to use it as my ID so when someone (jokingly honest) at work said there was more work in a Mexican village than there was in me, I just stuck the mex part on the end of pazza hence pazzamex.

(I apologise to any Mexicans out there, I didn’t say it I just use it, sorry). :bah:

My name (Parry) is Welsh , and although I am English ,

I do know that five sheep tied round a lamp post in Wales is classed as a leisure centre. :o

To CymruAmByth, if you’re a big chap I meant round a lamp post in England. :D

    Steve :o:bah:;)

No offence taken, but maybe you ought to change your current avatar slightly, which would better reflect your general demeanour.

My suggestion would be to remove the elephants trunk and attach it to your forehead. Additionally, maybe you could hang a couple of suitably sized spheres just underneath the aforementioned trunk. Voila...the perfect avatar for you. :DIt would be easier to just drop my trousers and take a photo down there 555 :D

And while you at it....Sheep....We <deleted> 'em, and you eat 'em** Is that why the meat is so tender :D

** - I am getting so bored of writing that last sentence whenever Wales gets brought up. Try finding some new material then :D

And to scousemouse (even though I am a manc) I have to admit liverpudlians have one of the best sense’s of humours in the world IMO (unlike the Welsh, although I am sure some of them must have one (law of averages) (bit of banter guys)

    Take care guys

  2. Hi guys, is there any way to save favorite threads, i am reading some threads now that, when i move over to Thailand next year, i can view them.

It would make it a lot easier to find them (and remember them). :o

    hope someone can tell me.

  3. I just finished a 1 month course at Text and Talk and it was the English school from hel_l!

the evaluators for the practice teaching would each tell you something either different or directly contradictory. And you would be graded on that basis.

you couldn't get a straight answer from the teacher, when you could hear him.

they had 13 people in the class and it was complete chaos.

many of the students were complaining, but not so any teacher or school offical could hear them.

be aware that you will receive a grade for the course, which goes on your TEFL certificate. The head of the school told us today that 85% of the students get a "C" grade. Also, if you have no teaching experience, that goes on your certificate as well.

one caveat, their is an official there by the name of Leigh (don't know if thats spelt correctly) who is absolutely great. the first day i asked about a cab route and by the end of the day he came back with hand drawn maps and thai text to show the driver. all of my experiences with him were similiar. he seemed very, very out of place there!

Before, during and after the clamp down I have spoken to Leigh and emailed him on several occasions.

I have always found him to be supportive and helpful and with that in mind I would (if the Thai education system were to consider letting the great unwashed “back” into teaching) make T and T my school of choice. (The imm B is a nice touch too).

Just my opinion for what it s worth (nowt) :o

My only problem is that I have never overstayed before (this time about 7 days, I am to excited to work it out yet) so any advice on what I should do (pay on arrival pay later etc) would help. :o

  6. Hi Guys,

I don’t know if I should ask in this forum or the travel forum but here we go. :D

I have just booked my flight for Dec/Jan and to get a good price I have had to book from 10/12/2007 to 14/01/2008 (cost £505). :bah:

I think this gives me an overstay of 7 days, I have never (by mistake or on purpose) overstayed before and hope I have not made a complete disaster doing this, can someone advise me what my options are (preferably least expensive). :D

I did a quick search but nothing jumped out as similar to my situation.

Hope you can tell me its not bad news. :o

    Steve :D

What visa do you have and what is expiry date?

I will only have the one you fill out on the plane (cannot remember the name of it) flying from manchester UK.

    Steve :D

  10. Thanks for all the info guys. I usually fly with KLM but expensive at around xmas time (I think that is when I wil be going :D ) southall travel are quoting (online) £300 + tax for November (Qatar) and from 14 December to 13 January £335+tax (Etihad).

Think I will phone them in the morning. :D

Thanks again you clever lot. :D

Now all I need is a flight to Udon Thani (watch for my new thread when I confirm my Int flight) :o .

    Steve :D

  11. I am also thinking of flying from Manchester with Etihad or Qatar in the near future and would like to join with stament and learn more about these two airlines from our more experienced travellers. :D

    Waiting in anticipation. :D

And thanks to stament for asking the question. :o

  12. Fares tend to come out around 11 months prior to departure date, so if your intended date of travel was in december it's best to book it in january to get the lower fares (although airlines tend to run specials now and again) if you post your travel dates and where you want to fly from then we can see what your best options are.

    Thanks for the replies,

I want to depart from Manchester UK and my final destination is Udon Thani via Bangkok, I don't mind spending the night in Bangkok but would rather not.

I want to stay for about 1 month (about 28 days) hope you have some ideas, thanks again

    Steve :D

When are you planning on traveling steve?

My ideal time for visiting would be December to January, my second choice would be November but having said that my first choice would be tomorrow. :D

The thing is, at the moment I am off work (on the sick for the foreseeable future).

I am suffering physiotherapy (hydro) at the moment, and in reality my trip would have to be when this is completed, having said that if the flight was cheap enough tomorrow I would walk my injury off :o

So in summation ,I would like to fly whenever, (any time any date) using the cheapest flights so my travel time would be dictated by the airline (beggars can’t be choosers). (my visit would be for 1 month) :D

I am just going to check out the links given by Mahout Angrit.

    Thanks guys (for the responses)

  14. Hi guys

Does anyone know the best (least expensive) time to fly from the UK to Bangkok.

And if possible the airline/s would help too.

I know for example that Xmas is about £900, I am not concerned with high season etc in Thailand I will be going to a village not a resort.

    hope you can help

  15. I have seen a thread on ThaiVisa recently where a guy with a Nationwide account used his debit card (used for ATMs) at the counter of a Thai bank (I don’t know which bank) to transfer a large amount of money to (I think) his Thai bank account. I am sure there was NO charge for this.

Sorry I don’t have time at the moment to do a search , but it may be worth your while searching the forum yourself.

    Hope this helps

  16. A Tibetan Lama once said that these sorts of rituals are old Indian customs. When a visitor was received at someone's house, incence was lit to make a pleasant aroma, water was given to quench their first and flowers were presented etc. He said the Buddha was once asked how he should be received and he answered like a guest, and that is how the tradition started. Don't know if this is necessarily true, but is a nice story.

    Nice story. :D

Yes nice story and answers some of my question, is there anybody else out there with any more helpful info.

For example when kneeling and lighting candles etc do they say a prayer or say something to their ancestors.

When washing the feet of the elders (I know its not just foot hygiene) why is it done, and is it only done to your families elders or all the elders within a certain radius.

I know that when I live in Thailand I will probably learn all these things in time but having the answers now will mean I make less mistakes in the future.

I am grateful to the people who have already put me straight on a few things (traditions) already and look forward to learning more.
