  1. Ah haha, another falang prick wanting other falangs out. I've met quite a few of you over here. Is that the "I love the locals so much, they'll end up loving me for sure? Mostly when the others left?" feeling?

Thais love Thais, and they are far from being the only country being racist. Almost all nations are.

Ha, ha , ha, again those funny assumptions. I never said "wanting other farangs out". But what is the point of living in Thailand if you feel continiously discriminated? If you feel you are not loved by its people? If you think Thais love only Thais? If you always feel Thais are out there to cheat you? What kind of fun and happiness does that create for you?

Ofcourse Thailand has racism, and sure Thailand is far from perfect and many things can be improved, but those farang with an ever lasting negative outlook on Thai Things because it all works against them in some way.... what is it that keeps you here?

Life is what you make of it and it definitely helps to fight off your negative attitudes and build positive ones. There are many great locals in Thailand, and like in every country, you can build long-term mutually beneficial relationships here. You can love, and be loved here.

For me it is the perfect place to be! Hope there are much more farangs sharing this vision!

  2. Do good and receive good. Do evil and receive evil. Isn't that everywhere in this world? Wish you good luck where ever you go!

What kind of good would you recommend - maybe buying a car for your GF's use !

Unfortunately in Thailand good deeds by Farangs are often seen as a green light to be taken advantage of.

There are many good things to do in life, but developing good habits is 1 thing I can recommend. Good habits will determine your future and your quality of life. If buying a car for your GF works for you, that is one thing you should do.

I see or hear often farangs with negative attitude towards Thai things. Negative habits breed negative consequences. Good habits create positive rewards. That's just the way life is.

People take only advantage of you if you let them! Just stay alert in Los!

  3. I am a relative newcomer to Thailand, unfortunately I committed myself to invest before I realised that Farangs are sub-human, and thais are human. This seems to be the view of a considerable number those in power , at quite a few levels. I have , however met an awful lot of educated and uneducated, but not influential, thais who wonder where the country is going and why Farangs are treated in such a digusting way. It is naked, in your face, racialism . A parallel with Medieval Europe can be seen. Enough said in case I get my visa revoked. I wonder what would happen if the EU , US , Australia & New Zealand had the balls to offer reciprical treatment to Thai citizens, re property, visa's, human rights etc. It is difficult to write exactly what I think, and probably what many others think, in case I breach the new laws

I have been wondering long long time if maybe many Thai-Visa-Forum Farangs are sub-human actually. There are so many negative posts about Thailand, Thai Culture, Thai ways, Visa rules, etc. etc.

In all the years I live here, I live so happily with my Thai Family in this wonderful Thai culture. I don't feel racism at all. (I have been living in the Dutch Antilles in the Caribbean. I have never felt so much hatred and racism against white asses over there). Maybe some of you just dont fit in here.

For me it is quite easy to write what I think. Thailand is GREAT GREAT GREAT. And if you dont like it here, there are so many other nice countries you can live. Seek your opportunities there!

  4. ***But the body needs to be examined in more details to determine if he was murdered or died by hitting the floor.***

If you hit somebody with a stick and they hit the floor and die it is murder. What part of this is unclear?

What if the old man attacked her first? and she acted out of self defence? She hit the man with the stick, he slipped and fell on his head and died?

Who of us was really there? Amazing what kind of conclusion some of you can make without knowing the real story...

Whatever the story, condolances to his family!

  5. There is no longer an option for bank deposit except for those grandfathered. The requirement now is 40k per month family income.

Does that mean 40k for husband and wife together as "Family income" ? Or do you need a to have an income of 40k as individual?

(I have just extended my non-o for another year in the end of october 2006 with 400k in the bank with no problems. I am 34)

  6. They have laws already.

What they don't have is enforcement :o

Exactly! What do laws matter when there is no real enforcement and when the country is so far down the dark road of corruption to return to the bright avenues of justice and integrity.

With corruption existing in every sector of Thai society, what are old and new laws gonna do anyway?

  7. For young married people Thailand has more hard visa rules than any western country (For getting a 1 year extention your bank account is irrelevant, even 3 million won't help you. Your income should be 3 times higher than average and at the same time they make it very hard for you to get a work permit).

Married foreigners need to show 400.000 Baht once a year to get a 1 year extension Non O. That is 33,333 Baht per month ($980). No further question asked and you can live worryfree in Thailand and having fun the whole year. If you dont wanna show up on your 90 day report, just sent a letter to immigration. If you are too lazy to get out of your chair to post the letter, let fedex pick it up at your home.

Sounds rather easy to me, especially in comparison with immigration policies in EU and US.

    Just my thoughts
