O.K.
Ours has never been less than 425 over the last 11 years; usually around 485 and even more during the hot season when we water the garden usually twice a day and shower frequently. Our neighbor's bills are more like 600-800 but they have bigger gardens than we do.
2 live in the house. Both do shower morning and evening. Bathe the dog twice weekly. About half of our meals are cooked at home. Water the few shrubs daily when it doesn't rain.
Water bill has never been more than 200 baht.

Over last 4 years had rented directly from the owners 3 times already.
First time a small furnished apartment in a shared compound. Minimum 6 months lease. 5k deposit and 5k upfront rent. Average 1.5k for monthly utilities paid with the rent. Cable tv and Wifi included. Shared washing machines. When I left no fuss at all. Owner came to hand me back the deposit.
Moved to a 2-storey 2-bedroom furnished townhouse. No washer. 10k deposit and upfront 10k rental. Minimum 1-year lease. Cable tv included but no wifi. Owner has engaged a managing agent who lived nearby. Paid monthly rental to her directly and got receipts. Also got back deposit in cash on same day moved out. (Was prepared because 1-month notice was given.)
Now stays in same type townhouse inside Village with security, clubhouse and swim pool. Minimum lease 1 year. This time deposit is 2-month rent and upfront 12k rent. Cable tv and wifi included. Paid rent to a bank account given by the owner. This is stated in the lease agreement.

If u intend to stay in the Mueang district (i.e. the city district), it's not too big to search around on your own. Just drive around look out for the banners, call the numbers, verify they are the owners and make an appointment. Often it's immediate. Or u may Google-search the number first. If it shows up usually it's the agent's. From experience it's much better to deal directly with the owners.

Uber and Grab are just another choice, and of course it's a welcome one. As this is Thailand i wonder if there's any wisdom for the petition to regulate the Songtaews? Eventually market forces will set the numbers.
From Big C Maehia to Airport Central Plaza, i ride a yellow songtaew for 10 baht. Red ones cost 20 baht. Too many songtaews running the roads? Sometimes i waited 20 minutes.

Oh yes. It's the norm. Even in prep school, we bring a cake and pack a ziplog of cookies and candies for each child in same class.
For the kids i wud say Pizza Hut. All kids wud be happy to eat something they recognise.

Shared this post with a security guard of the village and got this story -
Young girl walking her pom. Frenchie charged out of house and attacked pom. Girl got bitten too trying to defend her pom. Frenchie owner paid THB10,000 as compensation.

The smog problem is not just particularly in CM and CR or generally Thailand. It's the entire South East Asian countries. Personally i feel it's worse south when the Indonesian farmers burn fields bigger than some towns. Cities like SG and KL got hit so bad that it becomes a health hazard.

makes me wonder whether it's a shift in the climate? Temp dropped in the past 3 days. Is it now the beginning of the cold season?

could be off-topic, but i thought it appropriate to give a word of caution.
booked bus ticket and paid online (VISA) via greenbus iOS app. Nothing happened. Call their service center and was told refund cant make to foreign bank. Sent email to them thrice and ignored.
btw app is OK for booking. but dont take the option to pay online. Pay at 7-11, but need to make a trip and incurred 25 baht fee.

Was looking for an automatic. Because im not very good with the clutch, particularly starting on the ascend. Wifey insisted on the manual model because she never learnt driving with the automatic. Reading this makes me happy i gave in to her.

Came in late and missed the fun. Sorry, back-track on the part of Korean girls being the most beautiful Asian girls.
Firstly i agree. Then it brings up the question - North or South Korean girls? Many would say it's the latter, right? Then why the striking difference? They live in the same peninsula.
The S.Koreans are obsessed about aesthetics. If you dont look good you lose out. Parents want their daughters beautiful enough to hitch a rich husband, want their sons handsome enough to pass job interviews. Here's the supporting fact - S.Korea has the most surgical makeover per capital in the world, and the figure is almost twice of USA.

Union Pay is welcome in many establishment here. And it's a good time to come. Good weather at this time.
You will feel more safe here than in most China cities.

If it's about living in which of these 2 countries, i cant contribute anything. Years back when i visit Manila and Bangkok as a tourist, I didnt return to Manila after the second visit. One just cant feel happy there watching the state of poverty on the streets.
A close pal runs a business that requires him to visit both cities very regularly. He told me every time in Manila he hires an armed escort.
As for the girls, IMHO Pinas seem
friendlier because they speak better English and are more desperate to find someone to get them out of the country. Thousands of Pinas work in my home country and I can say for sure that they are not that friendly here.

If you went all the way to Lamphun and only got a discount of 200 Baht, then you didn't bargain nearly enough! Typically the price can be negotiated down 30% at those places. We used to go often.
[emoji15] 30% discount off prices that i already consider "very reasonable"? As a matter of fact staff at most shops would just point to the price displayed and claimed they had no authority to negotiate.
I did try to bargain hard. I actually examine the bench for any insignificant imperfection just to try cut the price. Eventually the staff did make a call on the spot and gave the final price at THB5300. (Well, could be an act.) Anyway i wasnt there specifically for this item, so i drove off to the other stores in search of things I went all the way there for. In another store i caught sight of a similar one with a price tag of THB6000. When the staff said it's fixed price i didnt inquire further. And i didnt look closely to compare quality though.
I didnt find exactly what i went for, so on the way back i stopped the store and get the staff to load the bench onto my truck. Granted it was an impulsive buy. The bench is still sitting oddly in my living room while i figure out re-arranging my furniture.
Btw, im living in Mueang. Seriously i dont consider distance within 50km radius of my home as "all the way". I had travelled further just to eat a meal. [emoji5]

Thanks so much for the info on Daeng's Shop. Eversince wifey got the Click last year, I have been regularly running around the 3 Honda dealers in town hoping the right rack would come out. Will check out if Daeng can custom-make a rack to fit on a basket for a pug.

sorry for my late response about your Christmas gift. One really good place to look for furniture items would be the cluster of furniture outlets in Lamphun. For location search Google Map - Noppadol Furniture Factory (one of the big stores there). Items are sold at "factory price". They don't deliver but can arrange delivery service. They charge by per trip so it's not worth it if u are getting just 1 or 2 items. I brought back a teak bench (plus a few smaller items) on my Dmax. The bench costs THB5300 bargained down from displayed price THB5500. Yes, most stores have prices posted on the items.
Member bamboozled mentioned Kham Tieng flower market. Some months back i saw many such benches at a furniture fair there. It looked to me to be a permanent feature. They claimed the furniture were made by prison inmates, so it's cheaper than retail. You may check if it's still there.

Go south Chang Klan Road until reach the river. Just after the turn there's Baan Rim Nam Restaurant. Further down another 1 km there's the newer Tha Nam Restaurant.
Riverside dining. Serve Thai cuisine. Live Thai pop music. Early evening is usually local family crowd. Inexpensive. The place i host dinner for visitors from home country and so far all liked it.
If u have dined here, forget about Good View @ Riverside. Too crowded and noisy. Go to Goodview @ Mae Hia.

Have visited dozens of Hard Rocks (long story short, used to be forever working so whenever I got any time off I'd go away somewhere & it became a standing joke with the ex-Mrs to randomly pick a HRC to visit, me for a beer, her for the T-Shirt & Teddy) but I do like the pool at the one in Bali, nothing better than hiring a cabana for the day & as the mood takes you swimming across to the pool bar for a cold Bintang.
BTW, somebody mentioned KL, HRC there is full of freelancers, never knowingly seen them in any other one.
dunno about KL. As for Bali there's lots of FL hang out at foyer outside the Rock Shop entrance. More in the moto parking across the street.
And Shanghai, when it was operating, was packed with FL.
