  1. I was driving from Sakon Nakhon today and stopped off at a village about 35ks from Trat Phanom on Route 223. Both sides of the road through the village is covered in bamboo products market. They had on sale there hammocks made from a rope type of fibre. The price was 130 baht.

Will test it out and see how it goes

Stick a pic up pls Carl. :o

  2. She was the wife of our handyman, & suggested by my landlady.

I always paid her for public hols, which surprised her.. She didn't speak a word of English.

A good worker, Maybe she had an arvo job too.

There are loads of Thai women looking for part-time work, ask around, no need to advertise.

Make sure she can peel and present a Pomelo..... a good test! :o

  3. I am surprise that one can have problems in Thailand with purchases in Thailand.

It must be you relax everything will be ok It will go up in value and you will make a lot of money.

Remember Bangkok will be more money they London and New York, as this is

    Thailand the land of smilies.

    An elightening post... cheers.

There maybe a kangaroo loose in the top paddock. :o

  4. "udon,

just wondering, would birds like the ones you have do okay in a large covered cage outside if it was in a sheltered spot? i haven't got a house yet, just living in a small bamboo hut for now, not enough room for an inside cage.

never thought about it much before, but looking at your birds got me thinking about buying some one day. are they singers/talkers or both? just curious.

    thnx,

    turnpike"

No problem, just make sure you use 1/2 mesh to keep vermin out, and zinc free wire.

Spray them with a hand mister at least once a day and fresh water as often as possible, they like to dunk their food and bathe in their dish.

Inside cage is only 1 meter long x 1/2 m high on wheels. Give them plenty of toys to occupy their time too. They are very smart. :D and only 12" high..... like a mini macaw.

They can talk but nothing like an Amazon or an African Grey. ($$$$$$$$$$$) :o

    Conures.

  5. With all the banana leaves about who needs toilet paper.....

WHAT ! Never heard of BOG ROLL ! :D

I take this Global Warming and saving the planet seriously and suggest if we all wiped our ersums with freshly grown bannana leaves.... just think how much paper we would all save... :D

Never tried banana leaves, but, wouldn't they be a bit slippery? :o:D

  6. I have only bought parrots (Conures) without probs.

If buying a bird like the Conure, put yr hand in the box and see if they will step-up onto your hand.

If they do, buy them, as they have been raised from the shell and have been subject to a lot of care.

Make sure you get the breeders contact details as you may want to buy more, later. :D

Most good, part-time breeders won't be there every week, once the clutch is sold.

    Green-cheecked Conures

    Much quieter than the Sunnys,

    Ideal for an apartment.

Both types are very affectionate and respond to time spent with them out of the cage on a daily basis.

Let me know if you need a good cage and where to buy one on wheels. (2000Bt, in 2002)

    Enjoy :D

edit: conures don't have 'dander' on their feathers, powder, to you and me, which makes them ideal for peeps who may suffer from alergies.

They love a shower and will join you if loose in the bathroom..... True! :o

  7. I had an Australian friend who took advantage of the differences between states to get a higher motorcycle license that what he was entitled to.

He travelled to another state, while there got the license, then returned some time later.

Douggie, could you elaborate a bit please.

    Upped to a higher (?) m/c license?

Which state did he go to?

    thanks. :o
