What could I have done?
-Fight back?
-Complain to immigration straight away?
-Complain to his company when I get home?
-TRY to file a police report when I get back?
Each choice is more absurd than the last.
1) you don't react , don't do nothing and don't complain at all nowhere , certainly not here on tv
OR
2) if you feel strong enough , YES , you punch one time and let him sleep as a baby for half hour...

hello, as i come from belgium to thailand 4 october with visa exempt (1 month) , and as i don't want to stay long in bangkok , i would like the same day going to the belgian embassy for asking :
1) the cerficate necessary to marry my thai gf 1 week later
2) the income affidavit because i will apply for 1 year extention based on marriage during my month stay
i know how to proceed and i have all the documents from belgium .
i already asked on fb belgian community but still waiting an answer.
my question is : ( specially in the case of belgian embassy if possible ) , how long shall i have to wait for receiving the 2 docs from them ?
if not from belgium , i will be please to hear / read how long it need from the others embassies , so i can have an idea...
thanks you by advance for the replies

You mentioned Pattaya, which is covered by the Jomtien immigration office - one of the worst possible places to try to get a conversion to Non-O from a Tourist or Exempt entry, which you would need to do before applying for the 1-year extension.
Much better to show up with a Non-O from London, simply due to the "Jomtien Immigration Desk #7" factor. Since you cannot use another office, you could end up having to go to Laos or somewhere else in the region to get your initial Non-O - as I did, because I also live in the Jomtien/Pattaya area.
According to other reports, annual extensions in Jomtien are no problem, because they are handled by different IOs who are not averse to doing their job (Desk #6 for Marriage-based).understood you and ubonJoe wrote , but i 'll come to thailand (4 october) with visa exemption then immediatly marry my gf (in kapchoeng).. As the IO told me befor , (based on his promises last year) i hope to get this 1year extention of stay based on marriage : if not accepted , iknow what i have to do (plan : going to savanakhet and get the marriage visa.... i will let you know what will happen... Must say that every year i stay in kapchoeng (3/6 month a year) and meet the IO quasi every day... maybe this fact can infuences the decision (unexpected positive AND without any bribe).....

You can get a 30 day visa exempt entry when you enter the country and extend it for 60 days to visit your wife for a fee of 1900 baht. You may be asked by the airline for a ticket out of the country within 30 days to board your flight to here.
You don't have to get a visa before you arrive. There is no 30 day visa you can get.
A single entry non-o visa that would give a 90 day entry is only 50 pounds. From London embassy website.
Fifty pounds is about 2200 baht at todays exchange rate.
oka , Joe . now my question : entering the country on visa exempt entry , can i apply and get extention permit of stay for one year (based on marriage) ?

I was in the same dilemma. To cut to the chase, unless you plan on working and need the work permit, I would suggest the retirement option. Less paperwork required, no 30 day waiting period or home visits, and less money involved.
less money involved ??? can you explain , please ?

It truly amazes me with the TV farang who just want to whinge and whine.
Thailand is a good place but unfortunately there is a small minority who just want to keep complaining time and time again no matter what this government does, well to bad for you, it is what it is so get on with life instead of constantly whining. lol
not really "lol" ....

I would have to agree with Khun Prayuth Chan O Cha.
The media do ask some stupid questions and especially when it's about that crim who's been in exile for years now.
Well done Khun Prayuth ! i have said before ... the media should stop regurgitating the same garbage over & over. Thaksin is gone ... finished ... kaput.
