After your ASQ detention is complete, you will be give a certificate indicating you have completed the quarantine detention and have tested clean (three times) with no indications of the CV virus.    Download a copy of this in addition to the hard copy.   It is quite possible you will need to provide this documentation  in the following months.

Many of the local Laos Air pilots have gone to work in China, some in VN.    All the expat pilots were released from contract.  Only a small percentage of local pilots will return to work in Laos.  Their salary was just a small percentage of what they are earning in China.  Airbus Captain Expats on last contract were earning $8500-$9500 monthly.  Locals were paid less than $4000 month.   In China,  Captain wages vary between $12,000 and $18,000 monthly for Airbus 320 captains and more for A330 capt.

mmmm, maybe Neg CV test to enter.  Then free vaccine shot.   The cost of the vaccine may well be offset by the THB spent by Tourists.

I started at 62.5 years.   Regretted not waiting.   I did not fully understand the consequences of working and dealing with the max earnings limitations.  AS well, phone calls to SSA usually have a long wait time before you get a SSA Rep and the answers vary between Reps.  Writing takes longer for a response, but you have a document to refer to when there are issues.

You can get estimates of your SSA payment and your "full retirement" date from the SSA website.  The reference handbook has a myriad of exceptions and procedures.  Take the time to study it.

Fantastic concept, however logistics to fruition may be difficult.   Need a unilateral  procedure to verify authenticity of vaccination.  As well, will all vaccines be accepted.

Fit to Fly?

 I used Doctor Donna in BKK. 400 bht,  Inexpensive, fast and very professional.  Was in INC doing doc check when several pax did not have FTF certificate.  Their Doctor gave then something title "cleared to fly" or "medical certificate".   It was not accepted by the document checkers in ICN.  They had two hours before ICN BKK flight.   I gave them Dr Donna's contact info and within 45 minutes of contacting her office in BKK, they had the magical FTF certificate emailed to them and made the ICN BKK flight.

Anybody leaving from Seattle?  Can do RT PCR in airport for $176.  Did the swab at 07:00 and had results at 21:44.  Register at DHMD.  Then upload to Dr Donna's web site for FTF.

Sure there are many other facilities doing the same, however, this work great for KSEA departure and in total was less than$200.

Remember to bring only new bills.  Many banks and businesses will not take old bills or currency that is torn, even though they are excepted in home country.  Was told that many of the emerging World countries have gone through many currency changes and devaluations prior.  As such, many are some what skeptical or  cautious about old and torn bills.  I still have a few USA C notes that not accepted here, but are accepted in Europe.  Have experienced this at many banks in BKK and CNX.

As well,  "AMERICAN"........   Canadian American, US American, Latin American or South American?

Lots of hoops...I just completed all 27 of them and two days before my departure, EVA cancelled all TPE transit.  Then start over with new air res, new ASQ res, New CV test, new med form and new COE.....been a freaking nightmare.  In addition to the ASQ res, my wife wrote a letter to the Consulate General explaining that I would be staying with her.  Thus no hotel or apartment res required.

As Ubon said, make sure you use the new updated website.  I saw that LAX  consulate gave notice on 1 Jan you would need to use the new site.

EVA Airways notified me today that all transit TPE flights are cancelled.  Thai Embassy LAX says start COE over with new ASQ and Flight Info.  Think Ill just stay in Alaska for few more months and do the vaccine.  Haven't been able to get Thailand 13 months to see wife and kids.  But think better to do the vaccinations first.   I already had Covid once and don't want it again.  Nasty stuff, knocked the bejesus out of me.  Four weeks to recover.  BUT...bright side is I can still get it up. :):)

As a Retired career Airline pilot, I would suggest they look at the operating profile of the LCC's.

Increase aircraft utilization to more than 14 hrs a day.

Reduce aircraft fleets to a few common types.  In turn MX and training costs are reduced and Crew utilization is increased.

Consider employee base salary with reasonable productivity advancement bonuses.

We have systematically watched all the Asian Legacy carriers go through the morphing stage with increasing competition from LCC carriers.  KE, JAL, SIN and Cathay have all adapted to new strategies.  TG will need to do the same.

BKK Bank and Phongsavhan bank have agreement.   I have exchanged Kip for both dollar and Baht their in VTE.

I Have lived in worked for two companies Laos and two companies in LOS.

Based in VTE ...dirty, corrupt, expensive and becoming dangerous.  But some cultural history and events to enjoy.  Crime on Farangs increasing.  Police not as aggressive towards Farang as LOS , but never miss a chance to pocket some money.

Not uncommon for neighbor or hotel staff to turn you into police if gal in your room.. Police split the fine with them.

Once out of VTE, it is a different Country.  Nice, quiet, little bit more affordable...but increasingly austere as you get off the road.  Very sad to see what the Chinese are doing in NW part of Laos.  Overall, very little regard for the environment by Government.

Based in BKK...Not as dirty, still corrupt, becoming more expensive and can be dangerous if your not aware of ur surroundings.  I have been assaulted by taxi/tuktuk in both countries.  Development in LOS has little regard for environment.  I get mixed feelings about anti-farang in LOS then Laos.   I think just more Thai than Laos encounters, so great chance for discrimination.  Once out of the Cities, I have always had good encounters with Thai folks.

In SE Asia since 2011.   Long time Thai companion.

Tor Guard's VPN has it, very easy to use.  Just select new city each time you log in, or change city when on line.  Im not sure if it has an alternating server city.  I just change manually.
