If you look at a regular passport, it will typically state that it is valid for travel to all countries. An emergency travel document typically is designed for a single trip, and only allows entry to specific countries. You agree with your embassy where you will go with the emergency travel document. Embassies vary in their policies over what kinds of trips they are willing to support. Many embassies will only issue you an emergency travel document to return to your home country.

You should also be aware that some countries will only allow entry with a standard passport, and will not issue you with a visa in an emergency travel document.

Airport immigration does not care in the slightest where you are going on an emergency travel document. Your embassy will have established in advance where you are going. An airline mostly will not care unless they have reasons to believe that you would be denied entry at your destination.

    Thank you ????

She did say that she 'may' be with an emergency passport.

That could be a problem if is is a emergency travel document. They often only allow one trip to a person's home country.

Did you mean that the Airline or Embassy or Airport Immigration may only allow one trip to the person's home country?

Is this something that the Airport Immigration would care about?

I wonder if Emirates would care?

It is 3 years. This from the rules for overstay (bad image of it)

    Thank you ubonjoe.

Do you know if its true that she can fly 'anywhere'?

ie:  can a Swedish (2 years overstay) fly to London?

(it wouldnt be a direct flight because with Emirates, needs to change in Dubai).

She would be presenting herself to immigration at Suvarnabhumi with the 20,000 at the ready.

      - She did say that she 'may' be with an emergency passport.

The Swedish Embassy may have their own stipulations, but I am trying to find out what Suvarnabhumi immigration woould allow.

    Thanks,

  4. If a Swedish person has overstayed for 2 years and pays the 20,000 THB at Suvarnabhumi, will they allow her to fly to the UK?

Or will they only allow her to fly if it is back to her home-country, Sweden?

The ticket will be purchased online, but have no idea if there are any official or casual rules about where she has to fly to.

    * I know that some countries prefer the person to fly back to their home country, but is this really the case when dealing with the immigration staff at Suvarnabhumi?

    Kind regards

It’s not that I get pleasure from other people’s pain. It’s just that people like you remind me of Nero, playing his fiddle as Rome burns around him. You, I and everybody with any common sense knows the sandbox was another ridiculous scheme dreamed up by a bunch of clowns that was doomed to failure from the beginning - no matter how much you want to try and pretend otherwise, it won’t change that.

Personally, I never had any intention of staying in Thailand for the long term and I feel fortunate I was able to ride out covid while I was there, so I don’t blame anyone from wanting things to be better there. IMO, it is just a very poorly run country that could be so much better than it is, were it not for the current government’s way of doing things. That’s just my observation and my two cents from the year-and-a-half I lived there. And I have no intention of ever going back, even though I did enjoy my time there.

Are you saying that you enjoyed Thailand; but you wont go back to a place you enjoyed because of bad leadership?

I personally dont agree with the British government, nor the American Government and the Australian Government... and many many more, but will it stop me from visiting?    Of course it wont!

Would you stop meeting up with a friend because you dont like their parents?

There is ulterior motives, corruption, stupidity in almost every country in the world.

Seems silly to deny yourself an enjoyable experience because you disagree with people who you will never meet.

  6. Hi,

I'm trying to sign-up for WeChat and there is a verification process.  (really annoying).

It says an existing WeChat user needs to verify my QR code.

How am I supposed to do this if I dont know anyone who uses WeChat ?   (its a catch 22 situation).

If anyone here uses WeChat,  would you kindly do this verification for me ?

If so, please message me  ????

I'm hoping that you are aware of this bizarre verification method... (so then you will understand what I am talking about).

      - Apparently this is a relatively new security feature they added recently.. and it really seems ridiculous to me.

Thank you to whoever helps  ????

  7. I'm trying to join WeChat but (part of the sign-up) process is asking for someone to scan my QR code (in order to verify me).

I have no idea if this is a new form of verification, but its really annoying because I dont know anyone who uses WeChat yet.

    It's a catch 22 situation!

If anyone here uses WeChat and can be kind enough to do this, then please let me know, and I will send the QR code.

     * Hopefully you are aware of what I am talking about (so you trust I am not making this up).

    Kind regards,

    Marc

  8. I am asking about currently and the visible future...   Where can a person (foreigner) get vaccine in Thailand?

Any private hospital?   Small local clinic in the soi ?    Where?

I read other posts from rural foreigners in villages saying they are not able to get vaccinated in locally. But I am asking about paying for private vaccinations in clinics and hospitals.

  9. I have no idea, but you can get work done pretty cheap in Thailand.

I had my condo (near Chidlom) decorated by 3 workers.

They charged about 1,500 per person per day. (excluding the price of materials).

For whats its worth, I would just get the problem fixed myself and be done with the hassle.

You can easily find workers if you go to a local hardware store and ask for a worker.
And the worker will have friends to help him with the job.

I did this a couple of times and was always happy with the results and cost.

The aircon is usually pretty easy to fix. If its leaking its usually because there is slime or gunk in the pipes that connect the air con to the balcony box.  An air-con maintenance guy would charge less than 1000 baht to fix and clean it.

the ceiling leak is obviously more, but at the very least, you can get a thai worker to find the cause of the problem and how much it will cost to fix.

and while you are doing this, you could pop into a local legal office (lawyer)  and find out if she can do these sanctions on you or not.

Can Foreigners pay for the vaccine privately ?  (in Bumrungrad hospital) ?

or, do you mean that the international hospitals are not allowing foreigners to book appointments for vaccines until later this year ?

By the way, is it just hospitals and government centers that will be offering vaccines? or will smaller clinics also be offering them ?

I remember when I signed up for these clowns after leaving the BX clowns. The sign up process was a similar timeline, indefinite, but in the end they did it.

maybe not the most coherent, but actually their customer service is really polite and quick to reply (24/7).

also:  its pretty much of a Thai thing (to be vague with clauses and details and fine print).

At least, (as you said), in the end they come through.
And to be honest, their website and service is pretty damn good I think... (especially when you compare it to most of the western exchanges).

Thanks. reason given - dont qualify as per their policies. My Thai wife has an account with them

And, are you actually in Thailand now ?  or are you trying to join from America ?

I just saw this written in another thaivisa forum:

"If you are American approval/verification of your application can not be approved now as Bitkub's legal team has not finalized the compliance/verification requirements yet for Americans.   Your application/verification will be placed in indefinite hold until Bitkub finalize compliance/verification requirements.  This per Bitkub today."

So, it sounds like a bureaucratic thing.  Maybe keep asking them (every week or two) if they have sorted out their American compliance.

By the way, if your wife has a BitKub account...  do you still want an account of your own ?
If so, then join with Binance or something similar.
Buy bitcoins with your wifes account, and then transfer your coins to your Binance wallet.
The transfer fees are pretty cheap.. (usually around $10).

    This is what I did.

I had money in my Thai Bank.  so I bought it with BitKub and then transferred it to Binance.

of course, you dont have to use Binance.  you can choose ANY exchange around the world. ..  take your pick.. there's many  ????

Recently BITKUB refused to open an account for me - As an American citizen living in Thailand with a local Thai bank account, with a marriage visa, local address.

Any suggestions about which Thai exchanges will accept US citizens?

Also, what other exchanges outside Thailand are best for American citizens - and which accept a USA based bank account - while being a resident of Thailand, with a Thai based mobile?

    Thanks

Did you get any reason why you were not accepted ?
The customer service 'online chat' (in the bottom right corner of the screen) is actually very quick and helpful.
Perhaps ask them why you were rejected.
To join BitKub, you dont need to show your visa at all.
You just need to show your passport photo page, and it has to MATCH the exact name on your Thai Bank,  (and, if my memory is correct, you also need to take a photo of yourself holding your passport in one hand, with a piece of paper in the other hand which you have written BitKub and signed).
      * maybe i'm mixing the last part up with other exchanges.
I also use Binanace which seems fine.
I also have Coinbase Pro  (not to be mixed with Coinbase) because coinbase is really simplistic.  (Coinbase Pro is the same company, but it has more advanced features than coinbase).
I think binanace is good though.
Bitkub is very good and I cant see why you would be rejected unless your passport scan wasnt clear or maybe something didnt 'match up'.

I would suggest asking their customer services, and re-apply.

Not 100% sure, but I think it had something to do with the cost of renewing the license for the exchange and the tax involved. I think the exchange was owned by a foreigner and he made heaps of money. Maybe he called it a day and bought a Lambo.

Yes it was a good exchange, easy to use and navigate. But now I am used to Bitkub,it’s on par with BX. Plus they are always adding new coins. They hold a survey every now and then to see what coins customers want added to the exchange. Since I have been on there, they have added about 10. They added polkadot, cardano,Band to name a few. They have most of the top traded coins. You have to go through the normal process to join,KYC and you need a Thai bank account. But it’s straight forward and once your done it’s easy.

    Best of luck.

Thanks again for all the info  ????

I actually joined up with both  BitKup and Satang and have been approved with both...  But I will go with BitKup as I have been getting good reviews about them,  ???? (including your nice review)

    Bank account added.

    Will start trading soon  ????

    Thanks again  ????

If your looking for a crypto exchange in Thailand,I highly recommend Bitkub.

I have been using them since BX closed up shop and I have never had any problems with them.

They have plenty of crypto currencies to choose from and no issues removing them from their exchange to your hardware wallet.
Since BX closed up shop they seem to be the go to exchange here in Thailand, their users have increased dramatically. They also have a telegram chat to assist you in any questions you may have. The platform is easy to understand and use, transferring  money is. Straight forward process, their bank is Kashikorn and transfers are instant. Other banks take a bit longer.

    hope this helps.

    Thank you  ????

By the way, have you any idea what happened to Bx?  They were good.. and then all of a sudden, they announced closure, which was a pity.
