  1. Too right. And watch them stagger around Manama, incapable of handling the grog..... hilarious. Btw, they've been coming to TH for years, via KL or other s/overs. My staff knew all about Ptya and the now defunct Walking Street. Brace for more rag heads in town, plus the hiso Indians (5 guys sharing a beer with 5 straws). either way, better than the yellow gobbers.
  2. This is for a refund claim, which the OP didn't lodge. OP was happy to lose the paid fare, but was surprised to pay an extra baht. On a different note, there should be a standard charge for non-travelling station patrons if they simply want to - for whatever reason - access the shops, stalls etc located within the pay areas.
  3. Great idea ...... but it won't help financially stressed Thais to buy their next meal.
  4. There is a reason why Thais all have nicknames. Cream, Bang, etc. So, by all means, rename what they believe needs to be renamed. Who cares? Nickname is Bangkok, Big Mango, or Big Dump. Whatever tickles your fancy. Tomorrow is another day, another April 1, so we shall await the latest cracker in the morning. Can't wait.
  5. Thai movers of motorized vehicles of transportation are much cleverer than you might imagine. They have googled "zebra" and found out that this type of black donkey with white stripes does not exist in Siam, and hence no need to s'arreter at designated black and white paint jobs because none of these strange, foreign, four-legged, non-Thai speaking creatures will ever queue to traverser l'avenue.
  6. What has changed, then? Same "strange" sexpats on board, "edgy" crims on the run, same queues you had at DMK you can now find at BKK, you can still feel the same hot sticky air, you can still land at midnight. And the rest of the asylum hasn't changed much either.
  7. So Bangkok is getting an Indian name? Great news. Maybe it's part of the new Indian tourism drive, bubble, etc. Now all they need is a nice name in Chinese....
  8. It won't effect anything, nor will it affect anything. Not in a hundred years will the current common usage of Bangkok disappear in everyday usage. Name changes always crop up to detract from other issues. Do not underestimate the cost of such a change either.
  9. Never mind dumb slogans, infantile hubs and pie-in-the-sky tourism numbers, and inflated tourism ad campaigns and associated budgets: just one "bracelet found" story once a week will work wonders to get Thailand "top of mind" ...... No doubt, Thailand now world #1 destination for backpackers, millionnaires and retirees. All on the back of a worthless trinket. Job done.
  10. I am sure dual fleecing will be next. 4500 baht from a Thai, 9000 for a foreigner.
  11. In South Africa they love to steal metal, like railway tracks etc, to sell off. Thai coffins have so many nails in them now they might be a good export earner and sold off for scrap metal.
  12. Try somewhere else where the pricing is fair and equitable. Very simple. Don't forget to let them know why you have decided to go elsewhere. Provided of course there actually is an "elsewhere" to be found....
  13. "....tourism services". Well, the hookers in BAH are mostly Thai. Expanding the market, it would seem. There is hardly any proper tourism industry, and Saudiization would prevent any foreign workers being employed in entry-level workforce environments. Also, Thais don't speak Arabic and next to no English. That leaves only horizontal body language.
  14. On second thoughts, it's one of those famous Thai "hubs". What's hubbing here, I have no idea. Maybe it's the start of the bridge hub across the Gulf?
  15. The latest attempt at building a Thai aircraft carrier
  16. Is there going to be a reenactment of the whole incident? Including the music?
  17. Booked and paid for the Moderna booster about 3 weeks ago (BPH). Was told Feb / March. I believe the Jomtien Hospital on Sukumvit is a branch of BPH.
  18. Indeed. Probably the cement holding down the top caps. Neighbour had tenants in his house, they never reproted any leaks, so when they moved out he found the entire internal gyprock ceiling was damaged by unreported drip drip leaks ...... Land lord lives next door, lazy tenants from Germany didn't care. 160,000 thb repair job. I got the roof guy over to check out my roof cavity, he sent a guy in there video recording his inspection on his mobile. Quoted me 16000 thb to replace old cement, then apply a white sealant all round the caps and the cement, then paint in roof colour. This is all the roof ridges, along the top, and all ridges down to the gutter edges. Tiles as such not affected. I opted not to proceed because I don't think it is necessary as yet. Neighbour's house is approx 6-7 years old.
