You can pay an accountant to contest and you will likely have it reduced but then you have to roll the dice and see if it’s worth paying the accountant. Not communicating with the tax office is here is not accepted as an excuse. They WILL apply penalties if you don’t address it. The govt is clawing back what it can now. In Thailand you have to pay forecasted tax and this would be deemed an acceptable amount ( by the tax office) based on no reporting.

Go to Makro if you don’t want to pay top price. Villa 2 carrots = 40thb. Makro 1 kg = 20thb. For some reason I think the Villa in Hua Hin is the dearest in Thailand. I am building a 400sqm house now with a 15 x 10 m pool and fully landlacaped. My second house. All building materials have increased for what you are using unless already stocked locally. China prices have increased due to decreased output not to mention the weak THB. I am using quality appliances Smeg etc and granite bench tops and the house will be high quality. it will cost around 45k per sqm and the pool / landscaping (1.5 rai) all in including pump another 4 million. Have had 3 quotes. 2 from local farang builders and a good Thai builder but chose to use my previous builder. The variance between all quotes fluctuated by 2 million which was to be expected. i got full trade breakdowns and material costs based off architect drawings and then materials double checked by an estimater (experienced foreigner). If you want a nice quality place here similar to home it will cost you. Architect fees (from BKK) not included in above.

Everyone coming will be tested so I don’t see that as a cause for an increase. i think border areas ( Mayanmar etc) that drop their guard will be the biggest problem. Close contact socialising will see an increase in cases. Thais cohabitate closely as a way of life so it will always be a problem. Drunken foreigners at bars will fall into the same category. Who cares anyway…open up and get on with life as we can’t keep living like this.

Hmmm..I will sit it out until Feb until I do a return visit After Christmas to see my family and friends. I think a lot of countries will have to fine tune their procedures to avoid massive cues. Similarly airlines need to open up direct routes…only then will I travel. Somehow i think coming in and out of Thailand might be the least of my problems.

In Thailand you only get 70-80% of your vehicle value so better to just sell it for the proper value. When I first bought a new car I asked the sales guy why. He just said straight out “ if they paid out full market value everyone would have their car stolen” Makes sense.

The numbers are falling exactly as Prayuth predicted 2 months ago. He is the only leader in the world who has successfully forecasted when his numbers will fall and was even brave enough to say they would be less then 10k by 1st November. Just incredible! How does he do that?

I move house every 2 years or less and country every 5- 6years because I need a change. Thailand is generally a good place. One thing I have learnt is stay away from politics if you aren’t entitled to vote. You will usually be whinging and it’s nothing you can fix. Stay fit and healthy in mind and body and every day will be good.

Handful of friends I know have had their house robbed. There will always be problems when people with limited brain capacity congregate to get drunk in the company of Asian hookers. Generally Thailand is safer than many other countries in my opinion...farangs are the biggest problem - in Pattaya.
