I have a Vietcom ATM visa card that for some reason doesn't work in ATM's outside of Vietnam. Is there anywhere in Bangkok where I can can get cash back on the card without using an ATM?
Thanks Maca

I have a bank account in Indonesia that I no longer use and no longer have any bank cards for but has some money left in it. When I opened the account it was ANZ bank but last year they were taken over by DBS bank, meaning my online internet banking account with ANZ is no longer active. I called the DBS head office in Indonesia and they told me there are no DBS branches in Thailand and the nearest one is in Hong Kong. But they said I could go to my bank in Thailand and transfer the money to there with my DBS account number and their sort code, I tried UOB and Bangkok Bank and they both said it wasn't possible. Is there anyway of getting my money transferred to Thailand without having to go to Hong Kong or Indonesia as at the moment I've hit a dead end.

I'm leaving for Savannakhet on Sunday to get a new Non O spouse visa, so just to double check the documents I need. Original marriage certificate plus photocopies of, my passport (plus copies), copies of my wifes Thai ID card and blue book house registry(do these have to be signed and dated by her?) and the 5000THB application fee. And no need for a copy of my wifes passport?

I'm looking to buy a reasonably priced bike in Bangkok, the best option probably a mountain bike. I bought one before in Bangkok about 6 years ago in the specialist bike shop by Lumpini park, I think that cost me around 18-20,000THB. This time I'm just looking a mountain bike to get around on cycling short distances in Rangsit. I looked in Big C and the best one they had was 5,500THB. I'll only be using the bike for probably a year or and won't be cycling long distances on it so I'm willing to pay about 5-10,000THB for one. Does anyone have any advice on where to go to buy one, either new or 2nd hand and how much I'd be looking to pay?

Seems like you are a doctor, you know which tests and medicine, so why don't you treat yourself at home?
A bit hard if you've got dengue fever...

Does anyone know a good hospital or clinic to go to for insect bites? I have a bite on my neck while although it's not itching its red and swollen, if it hasn't gone down and healed in a couple of days I'll need to get it checked out by a doctor. I've been to hospitals before in Bangkok and a lot of doctors don't bother doing the tests they should, they will prescribe whatever medicine they think you need. I've had dengue fever before so I need to see a doctor that knows what he's doing.

My phone is getting worse and worse and I'm not sure how long it would take for the new battery to arrive. An easier solution is just to buy a new one. Thanks for sending the link though

I've finally given up and decided to buy a new smart phone. Does anyone have any advice on which is the best one to get here in Thailand and how much they cost?

I will be going to the Thai consulate next month in Savannakhet to get another Non O spouse visa. Does anyone know if the same documents are required to make the application ie- original marriage certificate, my passport (and copies of both), signed copy of my wife's passport, 1 signed and dated copy of my wife’s Blue Book, 1 signed and dated copy of my wife’s ID card and the 5000THB fee?

I tried Seacon square none of the shops sold an A3 battery so I asked at the Samsung Service center they said you cant get that type of battery in Thailand as the Samsung Galaxy A3 phone isn't sold in Thailand. Tried online as well Lazada and Amazon, no joy yet. I'll keep on trying, the other option is to buy a new phone..

Hi
I'm trying to buy a new battery for my Samsung Galaxy A3 phone. I bought the phone in Indonesia over two years ago and all of the places I have gone to looking to buy a new battery have said they don't have one. Other vendors have said you can't get one in Bangkok. I'm going to look for one at Seacon Square today. Does anyone have any suggestions where I could buy one in Bangkok?

Does anyone know the situation if the marriage documents are lost from a legal marriage in Thailand then reported to the Police as lost, does that affect your Non O visa and leaving and coming back into Thailand?

In general the companies that want to keep your WP and allow you no access to it are the ones that try to push you into an extension rather than using your own visa.
Funnily enough that's exactly what this school does, I asked at the interview and they said you have to sign a release form to 'borrow' your work permit. As I haven't signed the contract yet and have contested their claim that I have to give up my Non O for Non B I would imagine they are now looking for someone else to hire. Which considering the unprofessional way they operate is probably no loss

To settle the matter the school went to the immigration office in Samut Prakan and asked there without contacting the Ministry of Labour in any way. It was immigration who said you can only get a work permit through a Non B not a Non O and as pointed out earlier immigration have nothing to do with the issuing of work permits. So either immigration have the wrong information or the school is lying which is plausible as the HR woman in charge of visas and WP already told me she got a WP for a teacher with a Non O spouse visa.
-
That's my feeling as well, the school has far more power over you with a Non B because as you say when they cancel your work permit along with your Non B then you have 7 days to leave. With a Non O the school has no power over you staying in Thailand....

What the school just told me was the immigration at Samut prakan have to approve the Non immigrant visa before you can get a work permit from the Ministry of Labour and that they will not approve a Non O only a Non B. Is there any truth in that or would they just go straight to the M of L to get the work permit?

I got a Non O spouse visa back in May from Laos Savaankhet Thai embassy. I have just been offered a job at an international school in Bangkok, first they claimed that Id have to get another Non O from Samut Prakan immigration office , first a one month then a apply for a year one. Now they are claiming that Samut Prakan immigration will not process a work permit from a Non O and I will have to get a Non B visa. I think this is just to avoid them doing more paperwork, is there any truth in what they are saying?

Hi
I have just got a 1 year Non O multiple entry spouse visa from the Thai consulate in Savannakhet, Laos. Though the consulate was not completely clear on the conditions of the visa. I know I have to leave every 90 days and re enter Thailand within the duration of the visa, but for example if I leave Thailand for 3-4 weeks to visit Europe and my first stamp is valid until 2nd August would I need a re entry visa to come back into Thailand? If I left Thailand say on the 15th July and returned on the 15th August?
Thanks Maca

I will be going to Laos on the 1st May to get the Non O spouse visa. If for whatever reason it is refused (shouldn't be I have all the necessary paperwork and proof of savings) will I have any problems re entrying Thailand as I already have a 30 day extension on a 30 day tourist visa, and if I do what would be the best course of action to take?
Thanks Maca
-
If go through an agency it'll be from the day I get the 30 day extension, if I go to the Thai embassy in Savannakhet, Laos and do it myself it'll be a few days before the 30 day extension runs out. I didn't know you could apply for a 60 day visa to visit a Thai spouse, do you know what paperwork you'd need to apply for that?
Thanks for your help

A couple of weeks ago the school I was working at fired me for a one day absence when I had to fly to KL as my Non B visa had expired. I had been sick the week before but had called in everyday and notified them, the day I flew to KL I didn't get the chance to notify them as I flew out early. I received a letter of termination today claiming as I'd been absent without notification from the 8th March to 16th March without notifying the school this was the reason for me being fired, this is untrue as they told me on the 7th March they were terminating my employment.
My question is will I need the letter of termination to get a 30 day extension on my current 30 day tourist visa and I intend to apply for a Non O marriage visa after that, will I also need to show it to apply for that? I realize now the school didn't have sufficient grounds to fire me, so just waited for a week until the terms of the contract were broken.
Thanks Maca
Where can you get cash back with a Vietnamese bank visa card in Bangkok?

I tried UOB yesterday, they told me they can only do cash advances with credit cards not debit cards. If I use my Vietnamese visa debit card in for example in a supermarket for payment do you think that will work as it doesn't work in ATM's?
