If you don't trust the apps just look at the mountains, this morning you could easy see how dirty the air is. Properly from burning, it goes a little down in the afternoon but raise again during the night. The morning air is here very unhealthy.
What A Shame. Birdlife will disappear.

I'm in Cha am today, lovely fresh mountain air about 8 clicks from the beach.
Ive been to Cha Am 3x and the water was unswimmable due to blue bottles. Are they in the water all year round?

<deleted>. I was considering HH as an escape from Chiang Mai during the burning season - maybe have to go further south ... suggestions for clean air in TH welcome. (my thai partner wants to get out of chiang mai but stay in TH during the first few months of the year while the smoke is on)

I think Eastern Asians are sexier
Chinese/Japanese/Koreans > Philippinos/thais/Vietnamese
alot Thais try to look and act East Asian

Yes that horrible stupid obsession with white skin YUK
trying to make their lovely milk coffee coloured skin look white
and then thinking it looks better to what they have before = Insanity. It's all a result of effective marketing...
You can't tell me that the skinny pale body of East Asian women looks healthier and sexier than a lovely, soft & smooth rounded, light brown body of the "Western Asians"

That's pretty much nailed it all on the head. Accurate as far as my experience goes.
However, this short summary can be shared amongst the women of a few other Asian nations such as Vietnam and Indonesia.
The difference is that Indonesian women wear the term "Gold-digging" as a badge of honour and treat the amount of money they get get like a sports score !
The Vietnamese on the other hand can shut down quickly and suddenly reveal their be freezing cold heart

Okay cool than how about adding for all the people who already have their bike and car license a mandatory one full day traffic refreshment course?People most pay for this repetition of road safety and rules regulations traffic course by them selves in order to have their license extended.
Yep. Seems like common sense to me.
Especially as the road rules and regulations are being updated and changed many times during the years.
This is a sensible, no frills solution that serves everyone for the better

Hi are you serious about that u like mine opinion about making it much harder to obtain car and motorbike licenses?because i am not used to get positive replies here [emoji3][emoji2]so thats why reaction is suspicious
Yes absolutely. It's a great idea to raise the level of awareness & educate before the license is granted + it's easily do-able

I married my Thai wife many moons ago and could not be happier. I love her smile, easy going laid back nature and great sense of humor. She is always thinking of others and has a kind heart. Yes she has many of the stereotypical behaviors spoken of on here - loves food, a good nap, bad Thai tv shows and mirrors! Occasionally goes off the rails over odd things, especially if she feels she's getting ripped off, gets hungry, or thinks another woman is looking at me, but it never lasts long and her sense of humor more than makes up for it. But more than anything it's because of the love and respect she has always shown for me and my family. It's a pretty simple formula that has worked for us - I take care of her and she takes care of me. And she does so in a way no Western woman can compete with. Can't ask for more from a relationship. 13 years of marriage and still going strong!

I
Make it more difficult to obtain a car or bike lisence more lessons more theory!
Ahhh now there's a great idea.
Make the license tougher to get by raising the standard of education needed to get one. How simple and straightforward.
Sure it won't fix everything - but it's an excellent beginning to life on the road (excuse the pun)

Nah. I'd go for bigger jugs on a smaller body, less plukes on the face and more tats.
Fair enough. Post a pic when u find it

In England back in my day, a young couple met, fell in real love, both started with nothing and both strived to build a future for their married lives and their kids later on.
If a man or woman got divorced or became widowed in later life, they would seek partners of similar age groups and equal status, maybe both already owning their own homes and of equal means, pool their resources and live a very fruitful life. If both partners already had children of their own, the whole family would benefit equally later on. But in Thailand this is not the case. Many western guys here hope to find women much younger than themselves believing that they can kick start their younger days again and the young lady will find them physically attractive and want to spend the rest of her days with him and will remain faithful and grateful for giving her a secure life in this third world country. But it`s not like that any more although it used to be in the past.
I don`t blame the young attractive Thai women for seeking out old lovesick fools who consider themselves as the white knights to the rescue of damsels in distress, and they`re laughing at you guys behind your backs to all their mates.
So when the OP asks; what do you like most about Thai girls? What he really means is; what do you like most about young attractive Thai girls? And I`m sure he doesn`t include their intellectual abilities in that question.
What a sad and sweeping generalisation.
Have you ever considered that some Thai women don't want to date Thai men and prefer Westerners ?
I don't hang around the ex-pats / sex-pat community for this pity-me, loser attitude you espouse.
Get a life.

I would think that lack of attention is stupidity. Riding motorcycles requires 100% attention! At the end of the day, whether the motorcyclist is in the right or wrong, the motorcyclist will pay the price for any accident.
Therefore 100% attention IS required. Ride (or drive) to live.
As for the boy racers my message is get out on the track and see how good you think you really are. The bulls_hit stops when the flag drops!
The teenage Boy Racers are a problem worldwide;
but by enforcing the NO off-market loud exhaust, you castrate the motorbikes extra performance and thereby reduce the thrill of blowing off.
Besides all the other legitimate theories here, I am certain that enforcing a ban on loud exhausts will save lives and save noise pollution.; and our hearing !!!

it is a social problem; another offshoot of the number 1 horror here= mai pen rai
In Australia, we have an identical phrase "She'll be right mate"

Young men are always risk takers. A world wide problem. Nothing new in Thailand, land of the motor cycle and scooter. The fact young cyclists die more often is not surprising, just sad.
The loud mufflers make them feel tough - while everyone else suffers
Sent from my iPhone using Thailand Forum - Thaivisa mobile app -
The most reckless riders - and ones that are risking their lives trying to impress their stupid friends - are always the (small) bikes with the loudest muffler.
The sound they produce makes the rider feel big and tough. This outward sign of masculinity is only needed by boys worried about the small size of their penis.
Immediately make these off-market offensive mufflers Illegal and help solve this disaster; if it saves one life, it's been worth it.

That's very simple: CM has the best massage schools of Thailand.
They come from all over to study there.
This is exactly true. I was going to write the same comment. The really superior massage schools are in Chiang Mai and take their role very seriously.
Recently, the government has visited all of the massage shops in CM and demanded to see the qualifications of each and every lady and man working there.
All the staff have needed to be dressed in a uniform (of some sort) and have photos taken together as a group.
Because my GF works many different massage shops, she has had to turn up to each with her qualifications in hand.

Maybe not, but it is free and easy to do and requires no assistance from anyone outside the building. As such it should be the first step after applying fines/interest and warnings.
Another free thing to try is to put up a list of units owing money in a prominent position. Many (not all) Thais would be concerned about this loss of face and would pay up simply to avoid it. Even the threat of publishing a list would get some Thais to pay up.
thank you for this; great idea

How can I find out who is this mysterious person?

In my condo, a warning letter is issued upon accummulating 6 months of unpaid common fees.
thanks for your input Trogers. Can I inquire to extent you have been successful with recalcitrant owners not paying their annual maintenance fees?
We have sent letters, made phone calls, added % fine, and suggested legal action, but still ... nothing.
So much baht still outstanding that it makes it difficult to run the condo properly.
Why was this allowed to happen here? Is legal action so ineffectual that the recalcitrant owners know it is only used in absolute last resort cases
and only when there is a huge amount owing?
Is there a more effective way that anyone knows? I appreciate your help.
