Let me be clear about my post - I use an agent purly that I can't be arsed to go to the immigration office myself.. my choice! Next, I have the funds so that is not the issue.. my post was meant to highlight that its a point to be aware of, as in my 15 years here its the first time that this has come up.. having spoken to my agent they have said never before has this been an issue. As I mentioned there is no issue until I need to make the renewal which needs to be done at the local office, as for the 90 day report I'm in and out the country quite regularly and in the old days would do the TM30 with my BKK address no questions were asked. My post was a heads up to others whom might come unstuck with it... TBH I wish I had not bothered.

By the way she also advised that I can continue with the visa until expiry then it must be renewed at Wattana if I still live BKK.

I have a Non O visa for which I have always used an agent to obtain. I know they have used various "friendly" officers at various offices around the country. On this occasion I was asked my address in Thailand, first time ever asked! to which I replied my residence in Bangkok. I was then escorted to a senior officer that asked about why my visa was not obtained in Bangkok (I think this time it was from Phuket) to this I replied that I have always used an agent. I pleaded ignorance, and she then kept repeating that I must go to Chang Wattana to do the Visa.. anyhow I acknowledged polity, and after a while she gave me the stamp through to the visa expiry date. I just wonder if this is a new thing tightening the noose, and has anybody else had this experience recently.
