We who have lived in Thailand are not surprised. We have seen that Thai people have a hard time knowing basic economics and mostly spend more than they earn. Instead of maybe saving 20-30 % of their salary, they choose to buy and travel to keep up the luxury living. As an example, I will not count the lowest income like 10-12k baht/month, but the more average salary of those with a university degree at 25-30k baht/month. Rent maybe 8k/month, car maybe 5k/month, food (200 baht × 30), 6k baht/month, credit cards for entertainment 5-10k baht/month, clothes 5-10k baht/month, other expenses 5-10k baht/month. They surly live over their standards. Everyone knows that Thai people don't have much money, so stop living like you do. Not even European that has more money live and spend this recklessly.

Well, ever since the junta taken power in the dictatorship called Thailand, they have been buying their own currency with both gold and foreign currency to make it strong and keep inflation down. However, this doesn't in real make it strong, since it's just on the paper.

If all foreigners would boycott Thailand, it would be much better from a couple of reasons. 1. Thai people will hopefully learn they can't scam foreigners, that we will not accept it. We will not accept dual pricing. So the faster this happens the better. It doesn't matter if foreigners have a salary at 200k-500k baht/month or more, we still demand to pay as much as a Thai that makes 12k/month. 2. The Thai dictatorship will see that less foreigners are coming to Thailand to make an example that we do not tolerate the breaking of basic human rights in Thailand. And when this happens more Thais will demonstrate to a point when the dictatorship will release the power and Thailand is on it's way to become a democracy. Only than should foreigners return to Thailand, not only if the dictatorship junta say something. They need to act and release power. 3. Government in the west needs to pressure Thailands government to become a democracy. They need to EU, USA, Australia/New Zealand and Japan needs to implement an import/export embargo on Thailand, so no products from these countries can enter Thailand and no cargo from Thailand, like rice or other, can enter those countries. This will make the Thais mkre frustrated l, and hopefully Thailand will become a democracy. However, this is just the beginning, there is much to be done after that to keep Thailand as a democracy, like making sure the military has no power at all. And the highest military leaders are chosen by the PM, so they can never again take power.
