  1. Takkedan Cholada from Korat, used to be a bus conductress in Bangkok. Lovely classic luktung song from her first 2006 album, she's changed her image and sound quite a bit since then. Very kind to fans, throws a good party!

  3. For lamyai fans, she has lots of concerts around Bangkok, attracts a lot of 'disgusted' comments but it's all good clean fun! She's on at Wat Bangbon this week better go and check it out just to see the band of course!

  4. Widely thought of as the greatest female luktung singer her style of electric luktung revolutionized the sound and became very popular, heard on the radio everyday still. Grew up in Supanburi which has a long history of producing some of finest singers. Pumpuang concert from 1989, she had three years left to live. No smart phones or tablets waving about in the crowd, not even cameras, the good old days!

  5. sirineou If you look at the beginnings of luktung most of the early singers and writers were not from Issan (lao) or any area other than central Thai with it's roots being in central folk traditions. There are some academics like Dr Mitchell who argue that Issan was embryonic in the development of luktung I cannot see it just by pointing out one or two early writers and performers from there. Certainly it developed a great influence later with luktung Issan style, but compare that with 1960's luktung and the difference is stark and today luktung is barely recognizable from it's beginnings. Luktung is certainly Thai but I think it's origins are not in Issan.

  6. My mate from the UK came this year for the first time since 1988, he got ripped off as soon as he landed. Tour rep told him he had to pay VAT on a pick up and one day tour of Bkk- 1000 baht, at 7% a very expensive and odd total for the service. He won't be back. He could not believe you can no longer buy a drink in the afternoons and how expensive things are now.

Islam does not outlaw other faiths.

A bit like the bible then.

A man can have 4 wives but only if the first wife agrees and only if he can prove he can financially care for all. Also the wives must also agree to marry him. He cant just chose a woman. Wife beating or any beating is illegal.

Islam does not instruct. I have no problem with muslims who I socialise with who havent beheaded me for being a non believer, but instead welcome me.

And yet all of this is off topic. This is about TR being a bigotted scum who broke the law. I note he only does that for muslims.

Christianity is not tolerated in Saudi Arabia, and possession of a bible is a criminal offence. Tommy Robinson is not bigoted at all, he is anti a retrograde ideology and has Muslim and Sikh friends and supporters, how many have you got?

Lots of people in this topic alone!

A hadith written 150 years after the events, by an author who wrote another hadith pacing Ayesha at an event which, if here age was as you believe, occurred 20 years before her birth!

But tell us, how many of these men claimed to have been inspired by the hadith?

How can they have used anything in the Koran when not only is rape forbidden in Islamic law, but so is sex outside of marriage?

The haddith of bukkari is kept next to the Quran and is accepted by about 95% of Muslims worldwide as being authentic, you have another opinion which is not theirs, or mine. Rape of those possessed by the hand (captives) is clearly condoned in the Quran unless you want to play on words as usual. Mohammad is seen as the perfect man there fore having sex with slaves and a nine year old (according to scripture) is bound to influence the people who idolize him and who see his life as an example of how to live.

You have obviously fallen for all his lies.

But you can't name a single paedophile he has exposed!

Who claimed he has exposed any pedophiles? he has mentioned the prophet a few times, but he was exposed as one by the haddith in the early days of Islam! That and the Quran are the inspiration for the grooming gangs he has highlighted.

  10. Never mind he will be out in a few weeks and can continue his brave campaign against rape gangs, sharia law, mass immigration, jihad being taught in the UK, hate preachers, fgm and 'honor' killings, all of which are dominated by one section of society. They will not shut him up for speaking the truth. People accuse him of being a racist and a white supremacist but can never come up with any real evidence, the man is a true patriot although that might be a crime as well before too long.

  12. Chulalonkorn University is hosting the 45 annual conference on traditional music, from all over the world. Tomorrows talks are interesting if interested in the history of Thai recording. KK Uni is very active in Thai music study. The Rabbit records mentioned was the Grammy of it's day, a book needs to be written about that. Dr Mitchell taught at KK before and wrote the book about luktung posted on here.
