Similar? Last time I looked in the mirror, my skin colour and eye shape was entirely different to that of my GF. I'm also very different physically from an African-American or the hairy Ainu of Japan. We have all evolved beneficially as a result of our environment. I can guarantee you would not survive more than a day or two at most in the Australian desert environment, while Aboriginals can.

The compelling evidence you describe is the product of an overheated imagination. You should stop reading Dan Brown novels.

Never heard of Dan Brown, and you should read some works of DNA scientists instead of relying on anecdotal evidence. New genetic mutations occur at each generation, which explains the Ainu, Aboriginals, etc. However, the human species has experienced several events (population bottlenecks) in the past where diversity has been suddenly lost. We are all remarkably similar.

You're confusing the Younger Dryas with the Toba event.

Instead of "constriction event", you should say "near-extinction event" or perhaps talk about population bottlenecks.

But the bottleneck that may have been engendered by the Toba event is an unproven theory.

Oh, and the flooding associated with the Younger Dryas was ~10,000 BC rather than ~10,000 years ago.

It's a pleasure to read your post. Finally, someone with a clue about the earth's history as explained by science.

You don't really believe any of that do you?  It's like an adult admitting there really is a Santa Clause.

You said you liked the scientific method right? Plenty of real science has been done on this object. The DNA (constriction) and archeological evidence (worldwide floods) is incontrovertible. Why the disbelief?

  4. Wow, on page 178 of this thread, 2660 replies, amazing. I was lucky enough to renew my one year extension based on retirement on Jan 4, before the new rules went into effect. So since I renewed under the old rules, I do not need to keep 800K in the bank for two months past the date of application. That part is crystal clear I think.

Now, here is where it gets murky. I assume I do not need to keep 400K in the bank for the entire time either? It means when I renew again NEXT year, will IO be checking for 400K in the bank for the entire previous extension? You could see how they could expect that. I am assuming I renewed under the old rules, correct?

  5. Concerns about crossing the border acknowledged. To establish her village location:

1: get her a cheap Android phone.

2: connect with her on LINE.

3: show her how to drop and share a pin on Google maps (means zoom in and drop a pin at your current location). This is one long press to drop a pin and two clicks to share, anyone can do it.

    4. send her across the border she knows to her village.

    5. she shares her location pin to you on Line.

Then he could do a border hop for a 30 visa exempt entry and start all over again by applying for a 90 day non immigrant visa entry and then the extension during the last 45 days of the 90 days.

Hi Joe, I have Cambodian passport and I only get 15 day visa exempt. Last time when I tried to convert it to Non-O using an agent, everyone got a blank stare on their face. Could you tell me if there is a different process for this? Thanks so much.

  7. I have one year retirement extension, and last time I was at Chiang Wattana (trying to get Certificate of Residence) I thought I would plan ahead and check the requirements for renewal of extension of stay based on retirement (due in February, plenty of time).

The nice lady handed me a form which appeared to need to be filled out by the landlord of my residence (I don't have a landlord), and also power of attorney for landlord if I am not mistaken needed if the landlord cannot accompany me to immigration, plus requirement for copied of house book etc., all of which I don't have.

If OP's experience really is "easy peasy" as other posters have said, I hope you can post and let us know thanks man. Please could you include info about your nationality and if you have a house book or lease.

Cambodian and others get their visa exempt entries from a bilateral agreement instead of the standard visa exempt scheme. The 2 entry rule only applies to those under the the visa exempt scheme. That is also why they cannot get extensions of their entries.

List of the countries that qualify for each one is here. http://www.consular.go.th/main/contents/filemanager/VISA/Visa on Arrival/VOA_แก้ไข 15-03-61.pdf

Wow amazing info thank you. Yes I had a problem before once when I tried to extend a visa exempt entry at Chaeng Wattana, which apparently was not possible, and no one could explain why, but it is clear now thanks again Joe. My presence (white farang with Khmer passport) at the border usually raises many Immigration eyebrows, but that is the subject of another thread haha.

What would your visa end? Just go to an embassy or consulate to apply for a new one when your current one expires.

Visa exempt entries are limited to 2 per calendar year at land border crossings. If you have a valid visa for entry there is no limit.

By air there is no limit to entries with or without a visa.

Hi Joe, thanks for all your participation and help on these forums, much appreciated. I just want to clarity. I am a white New Yorker, and I got Khmer citizenship in 2014. I have Thai retirement visa in my Khmer passport. I renounced US citizenship.

My Khmer friend (no Thai visa) stamps his passport (visa exempt entry) at Aran border many times per calendar year, certainly more than twice, and never seems to be a problem. So perhaps Asean countries have a different rule? Please elaborate thanks in advance.
