Totals stupidity. French oil companies fled Iran at the first sign of American sanctions and their government did nothing to protect them. What is in the deal for Iran....nothing at all. They stuck to the terms of the deal, the US reneged and then the eU followed suit like the spineless sheep they are. Sickening hypocrites.

What more can you expect from the froggies? They are, after all, Americas new best friend

On the system they're suggesting, Lord Buckethead and The Monster Raving Loony Party would have seats in the UK Parliament!

Though that might be an improvement on the current bunch!

Yes, let's have some sensible politcians. RIP Lord Sutch

    Bangkok-Nakhon Ratchasima

Yes, you read it correctly - 3.5km.

This is the railway that was set to open the Bangkok-Nakhon Ratchasima section in 2021:

Yes a 3.5 km section of the proposed Bangkok to Korat line is completed, so I believe. I can't see trains achieving high speeds along here. There is already a rail crossing over the Mekong between Nong Khai and Laos. is another one necessary?

The majority in the country voted to leave now all the moaners want to circumvent the democratic process. 6 million is less than 10% of the population. It is a sad fact that "Those who shout loudest are heard first" and one might assume that the 6 million are made up in large part by people from other countries or Corben and his communist friends.

Have a second referendum when people know the truth of the effects of leaving the EU as opposed to lies on the side of Boorish's bus and a different result will be seen. For your information. Corbyn and his "communist" friends were mainly '"leavers", Tory boy.

The problem is that they are spending hundreds of millions of dollars not Baht on a system that only caters for one type of transport, passenger, so the roads after spending hundreds of millions will still be flooded with trucks

I believe that this line will eventually finiish up in Kunming and will be used to transport goods from China towards Singapore (or at least that was the intention 5 years ago ). Maybe it will just be a high speed line from the south to north of Khorat as this is being built at the moment

Yeah, now that you mention it, I do remember that about the requirement to be on a dive course. That Lonely Planet remains mum on all of the Ko Tao mayhem just makes them look corrupted. They must know all about whats going on, but probably figure its not in line enough with their business model to warn people.

You are probably right about not fitting in with their business model. The least that they could do would be to advise to beware of homicidal Burmese boys!!!!!

As I and many have said on here, the murders and rapes will continue until people stop going to Ko Tao. You still have Lonely Planet talking about Ko Tao in glowing terms on their website without one mention of even the most high profile cases. As of last year, their books on Thailand have no mention either. I really wonder what is their deal. They have warnings galore about African countries, and they rightly still recommend visiting those places, but advise about safe areas within those countries where you can have little to no trouble. I don't see why they cannot do they same with Thailand, even just a footnote in one of their guides. Would it not help people think twice and visit other places that are safer and more worthwhile? The west seems to really have a problem, still, with the way Thailand has charmed them into thinking the country is some kind of Buddhist utopia.

That said, I returned from a trip to Bali recently, infinitely bettter island to visit than Ko Tao or Thailand as a whole imho. The one time I visited Ko Tao, it was to do some snorkeling, which I have always been keen on since childhood. Bali presents an order of magnitude better snorkeling at places such as Amed, Nusa Penida, Permuteran and Menjangan. People's ability to think and behave kindly and sensibly, to actually communicate clearly as a matter of second nature, the better value food and accomodation, spectacular volcanoes and architecture amazing traditional dance and music that still seems to be kicking with much vitality. The air was fresh the food was as well. I feel sorry for people who come all the way out from Europe or America just to go to Thailand or god forbid Ko Tao. Bali and Indonesia have so much more to offer, they speak English much better as well and there so many genuinely kind and decent people. There is often palpable hatred and not much else I get from Thais these days. It didn;t used to be that way either.  Thailand has sold its soul to globalist consumerism yet has never adopted a modern education system, you get the worst of both worlds and it festers as the symptoms we see with the ongoing Ko Tao situation, it will be Asia's garbage dumping ground as well as China has outlawed electronic waste dumping and because of the corruption in Thailand, no amount of laws will reverse the tide of highly toxic refuse from there to here and all the money the dumpers will get for accepting all the junk.

I remember back in the early 1990's, Lonely Planet warned about a mafia like system where anyone saying at one of their guest houses would be booted out if they didn't partake of their diving trips. I've never been to Bali but I can agree with most that you have written, particularly regarding the junk, either home produced or imported. What a sad fate for what once was a beautiful country, being destroyed by greed and lack of respect for the environment

Chronic pain or acute pain cases can be treated with Marijuana oil extract.

Especially those patients in their final stages of life from severe illness.

I feel smoking Marijuana should still be banned from saving the future generation kids.

Smoking anything is a bad idea, there are numerous other ways of using it.

I remember Adam Faith starring in a TV program many years ago that explored the different ways of promoting it when it became legal. Marijuana chocolate anyone ?

Thanks for the advice about the NE & C Mai. Trouble is I've been here 10 yrs plus and have been to most places I want to go to. And my friends have been to most of them too. My favourite is Prachuap town nice promenade, easy going laid back bars/cafes relatively unspoilt town but as I have said before have been there many times. I guess I'm trying to find something similar .....

I would stick with Prachuap, good beach at Ao Manao, also a museum that celebrates the last time Thais fought to defend their country, if you can find it, Good outdoor eating places on the left past the pier and sensibly priced hotels, Fairly quiet but enough to make it interesting  Big Market at the nearby Burmese border, What's not to like ?

Really surprising to see this go to court. He will lose. No amount of canes, crutches, casts, and neck braces will buy sympathy from anyone. A plea deal was his only chance. Maybe in light of the rock solid case and him being high profile they decided to put him through the ringer instead.

Unlikely doing a runner is an option for this guy at this point. If he becomes a fugitive from justice he may lose his job, influence, and lots of money from Ital Thai. Even if found guilty he can probably drag out appeals for years so not even a sweat yet.

I reckon that he will need to watch his step. He may well escape with a few million in fines and damages and no time in the slammer, but many people put animal welfare before human life and can be quite fanatical.
