  1. Okay, but the OP says that he was charged for 15 days overstay, not the extra 5. Also the OP said that he had all the required documents. That may mean he had the note from the doctor. I am not sure how you can be sure. I am only commenting on what was posted. But if you read my post I was commenting on the person that asked "based on what criteria.". That is the criteria, if he didn't have it then maybe he should be charged an overstay. I don't see how any reading of the OP would imply that he didn't have the documents to prove the 10 day quarantine so a max if 5 days maybe .
  2. Yes! Based on, the mandatory quarantine and "having all the documents from the hospital." Not if someone just told immigration they had covid but if you can present evidence that was the reason for overstay. After all the Thai government and medical experts are the people telling you this is required, you cannot leave.
  3. 555 well according the Thailand I am a tourist. Seems no matter what visa type you are, you are still a tourist. I think I would have guessed 2 meters so if it is only 1.5 then some people are in a little more in compliance. I would tend to rely on the licensed business to inform me of the current requirements to use their services. Works pretty well inost of the world. I get your point but if you actually expect everyone in Thailand to read the government websites in the Thai language and then understand what zone they are in and what exceptions are being made I think that won't ever happen. When I came back to Thailand a couple of months ago I did research before arriving. All of the specifics have changed. And the accual practice is different again. I was supposed to use phone apps that have never worked on my phone. I even took them into government offices to have them help and they were unable to sign me up. I guess that means I should be arested and deported. Also in the local MoPH office that I went into there were 8 people working. One had a mask on and one had a face shield on. When I started asking about getting some help a second person put on a face mask. So less than a 50 percent compliance rate at the MoPH for social distancing and mask wearing. I am truly glad you find it easy to understand all the changing rules. I would bet most people don't. I still say that if these places were operating in the open and the patrons were doing as the licensed business asked, then I hope none of them were arrested or fined. That is the crux of what I said originally. If you disagree, like they say, up to you.
  4. Good non answer. The disease has been with us for a couple of years but the regulations have changed often. I have been in six countries since January of 2020 and I can tell you the rules aren't the same for different places. My original post included something to the effect of, how would a tourist know what the rules are? If they see a business operating in the open they are likely to assume it is legal to go inside and consume food or alcohol until the business says it is closing time. If these were hidden and you had to have a secret knock to get in, then that is different. But I didn't see any mention of that in the artical.
  5. Okay, but what is the social distancing and mask rules inside an establishment serving food and drink. If the table is not blocked off then am I in compliance? If there is food or drink at my table do I need a mask? Everywhere I go in Thailand, no matter the time if day, you take off your mask when you sit down at the table and keep it off until you leave.
  6. I am glad to hear that. But the article read, "It was not immediately clear if any customers were fined or arrested.". There were also a number of comments above mine expressing the idea that these customers should be arrested and deported.
  7. So seriously, the rules change quite frequently. If I were a tourist on a two week vacation and I came to Thailand saw a bar open as I was walking down the street and went in to have a drink, I would not think it was illegal to stay and keep drinking if the bar kept taking orders. I understand that a lot of us here are aware of the alcohol restrictions but I doubt true tourist are. Or if there are aware today they might think they changed tomorrow. It really is more a responsibly of the bar to shut down. I am an early to bed kind of person so I don't go out much but I am not sure what the rules are. I know where I live some of the bars are staying open till midnight and then when they close you still don't have to leave. They just turn off the music and the lights but you can stay and finish you order. Even if that order was a full bottle of 285. I know a couple of friend out last weekend that did that and stayed till 2:30am. I really wouldn't know if that is legal or not. If the establishments were operating in the open I hope none of the patrons were arrested.
  8. I looked at the app and can't seem to find that toggle anymore. I know it was there five years ago but maybe it is just enabled now. Hopefully someone elseight know for sure.
  9. I have never been but I would assume the milk is fresh. Sorry, can't believe I just posted this.
  10. My blue book was given to me at the land office at the time the sale and transfer of property was completed and registered. I am not sure how you would get it at another time. But I might ask the condo office. They might have it. Mine was in the possession of the builder when I bought the condo unit. ( I think)
  11. Just to add another story, I bought a condo about five years ago. I was so unaware of how the bureaucracy worked here one of the first things I did was go try and get a yellow book after getting my blue book from the land office. The woman at the city office said I couldn't have one. I asked why? She told the GF in Thai some reason. I said that I owned the condo I should have one. So she told me I need some documents. Well took a couple of days but I got the documents. Went back and of course the response was I can't have one. Sent me away for more documents and a name written in Thai on the chanote. Got those and went back.she was having none of it. Took my blue book a wrote something in it by hand saying that the owner of the condo needed to be in the country for some more time before he could get a yellow house book and told me not to come back. Next year I went back and tried again. No luck. Year after that I took a different Thai with me and after a couple of attempts still no luck. By this time I had been told by a couple of other foreigners that they only do yellow books for married men and no way to get one with out being married. Anyway last year the mother of a friend of mine who has kind of adopted me was telling me that she knew the woman in charge of that office. My new mother has a very important last name and is about twenty years my senior. She called the woman in charge of the office and found out that the officer had recently retired. But the woman told my "mother" she would make a call. We went down to the office all documents, from the notorized translation of my passport to the chanote in hand and were hoping for the best. They looked over the documents and said I needed a notorized translation of my real parents name and address. So we dutifully went and got that and came back the next day. So guess what, they told us no, cannot. My mother then started asking why and becoming assertive. The question was then asked of my mother, in front of her husband BTW, who are you to him (meaning me). Then the person behind the counter said that my mother might be being paid by me. I was told by another friend that was there that the way it was worded implied that my mother might be a prostitute. It was also said that I can't have this kind of document because I might be a criminal in my home country and that I could be trying to hide here in Thailand (BTW, at this point I was on a Non-OA visa which requires a background check, not that this office would know that) Well that didn't go over well. My mother gave the officer a sharp response that was lost on me. She then for the first time showed the woman behind the counter her ID card. The officer did ask who she was. This is who I am! From that moment on I was getting the yellow book and a Pink ID card to go with it. I have used the ID card a number of times. I find it useful on occasion but I am not really sure it was worth it. There was no way I would have gotten it without the help of an important person. I guess the "do you know who I " thing can benefit me on occasion.
  12. Both of the above are correct. I have used it many times overseas. Make sure you top up your sim card while out if the country so it doesn't expire. There use to be a setting in the app for using WiFi. It might be automatic now but I remember the first time I left the country I had to enable wifi in the app.
  13. I wrote this a couple of hours ago. This thread has proven the point. So mamy people rightfully pointing out that Zebra crossing is an official term. But then calling the American official term slang or an awful expression etc. As my grandmother would have said, pot calling the kettle black.
  14. As an example, but only from a hundred or so years ago. The English must learn in school to ask every American they see, "why do you call America football, football when it is played with your hands?". I have been asked this so many times I can't keep track. I admit I have no good answer for this question. I usually respond with, why didn't you English keep calling Association Football soccer? After all it was you English that coined the term. Why do you always think we Yanks renamed your favorite sport. We were just following your example but then you went and changed (bastardized 555) the language. 555. All in good fun.
  15. We can't even get are insults correct. I am on your side but I don't think anyone have mentioned a crossroad yet. That is different all together.
  16. If only there was a book that contained words and phrases that mean the same thing. No that couldn't exist, because if it there was more than one word that described the same thing it would be a "bastardization" of the original language. A language cannot organically grow in different places in the world.
  17. Oh so true. Before my coffee and the auto fill in my phone. I really should have proff red it first. This one was deliberate. 555
  18. After rereading your post, I may owe you an apology. (I hadn't had time for my morning coffee). I think you were being funny. Anyway, Mia Culpa. Can I use Latin? Or is that slang as well?
  19. Really? As a fairly well traveled American I find the need to understand "slang" from all around the world. Zebra crossing is used in many countries. If you want to complain, sidewalk vs pavement is a better subject. 555 Although I agree with your later point, your former is funny to me. I have experienced far more Englishmen that want to tell people that American, Australian, South African, Canadian etc, English is wrong or a butchering of the language than Americans. Really seems to burn a few butts when some Thais I know use Americanisms around there British English teachers. It is really funny.
  20. Same with me. I have been to 2 vaccination sites, a hospital and the local MoPH office. No one has been able to get the app working for me. Always says (in Thai and you can't copy and paste the message into Google translate) that I am entering the wrong phone number when I try and register.
  21. Just tried it now. Took me five tries. I like it and will give it a go tomorrow. Very similar in concept to a game called mastermind. It is played with colored pegs and you try and guess the order your opponent places them in. This adds to that a vocabulary lesson.
  22. Midnight in Bangkok. Everything is closed. At least it didn't blow Netflix's budget.
  23. True, that is why I said that the pictures weren't of the main party street. The pictures were from where we ate dinner. But we walked around the area including Khaosan road and we're not asked to take a test.
  24. I was on Khao San road a week ago Saturday. The taxi driver dropped us off at a business in the area. I forget about the testing until it was too late. When we got to the road there was no one stopping cars to do tests so it wasn't required for me. We had a few hours to kill so we walked a bit and ate at a restaurant returning around 1930. Again no one at the entrance administer a test. There was a testing site set up mid way (ish) down the road and a couple of restaurants had signs up saying you needed to show a test but they were the minority. We had an hour foot massage and was not asked for a test either. It was very empty. Here are a few pictures from that night around 1930. I should say the pictures aren't of the main party street but it was about the same.
  25. I was thinking the truck's brakes failed and the cables were the emergency braking system. Forward thinking by the internet companies. 555
