  1. Unfortunately you simply cannot chop and change roof coverings without possibly some major structural works.
for example your corrugated sheet tiles are lightweight and the steel battens supporting them may only be at 400/500 centres.

concrete tiles come in all manner of sizes and weights and accordingly to set them up you will need steel battens every 150/200/225/250/300 etc etc etc.

tiles are also much heavier per m2 so it would be an idea to make sure the roof has adequate and I mean 4x2 steels or 3x2 steel with several purlins.
a contractor setting out with the intention of fitting a lightweight roof will not set up steel capable of carrying tiles.

I would say go like for like and opt for the lightweight sheets mentioned above. it makes life easier for everyone with the benefit of integrated foil backed insulation.

fully appreciate the vermin quandry, I have them running around our roof despite my best efforts to keep them out.  Squirrels are currently dragging in trees and leaves to make a nest for hibernating, then it will be babies and more squeeling

You should use the shaped plastic edging to seal the openings between your roof tiles and the fascia and then no more gaps for any other minor gaps. We fit them as standard to our builds and never have any issues from vermin.

  2. Where is your bar in Khon Kaen?  Nothing can beat a nice cold beer and some sports.

It's a work In progress. Hoping to open mid November but as this is Thailand it could be mid December [emoji23][emoji23]
    Watch this space for updates.
It will be serving great European home style cooking and Thai food cooked to Farang tastes. ( any spice level you like)
You can have it genuine Thai or Farang Thai [emoji23][emoji23]
There will be home cooked shepherds pie, burgers, pies, fresh stone baked pizza with home made dough and sauces.
Chilli, baked potatoes, creamy mash, proper English breakfast.
Lots of other tasty things everyone misses from home.
If anyone has any requests feel free to ask and we will see what we can do.

  3. The website does not look very promising.
Nowhere can I find substantial info like a channel list or the like.
    No advertising any premium content.
On two pages there is supposed to be a video.
    Both don't start.
    Amateurish.
Price is the only thing I can find.
350 per month, discount for longer periods.
What do you expect for 350?

I guess it's not more than what you can get with a DVB T2 receiver and a small indoor antenna.
"57 (Thai) Channels (And Nothin' On)", based on Bruce Springsteen
57: should read 200 of course.

Save the money and invest additional 350 for the internet.

Just found a guy that has it with the sports package and he gets all the footie and f1, boxing etc etc and it's only 500 Baht a month and they do deals for yearly and for multiple tv's
    Happy days [emoji4][emoji4]

  4. I am in KK and have 3BB Fibre 200mb package and IPTV. I am using a high end Zidoo Android box and rarely get buffering.

If you are installing this in a bar, I can understand your concern and suggest you find a legit sports provider...

Do u know anything about khon kaen cable?

It seems to be a very popular option that everyone has but nobody knows anything [emoji848][emoji23]

I use 3bb and a decent android system for personal use but on any live event no matter what your speed or quality of box you are never guaranteed to get a buffer free game or match. It will be for a bar so can't take the risk [emoji23][emoji23]

  6. Ok, just checked today and UKTurks says list is updated 20Oct, whereas before it was about a week older when nothing worked.

I get many of the live sports channels working, but when I try live TV without VPN not much luck there.

I get more success with Mobdina addon which is a variant of Mobdro.

Try cypher tv and Project cypher

  7. Forget it,  the money it is gone and there is nothing you can do about it for less than 200,000 THB for a lawyer to even start a case.   If he doesn't have the money to pay to finish the job now,  what makes you think he will win the lottery after a court orders him to pay you 5 years from now

Your real world problem is going to be finding a contractor that will finish the job that someone else started.   Building a house is difficult here in Thailand and it is almost impossible when your new contractor will be able to blame any future problems on the previous contractor

Believe me, it has happened to me, and took almost an extra year to finish the job

It would depend on how much work has been done and how much of what has been done is actually done correctly. If the guy did a runner their is a fair chance that he didn't give a crap in the first place about quality control.
The last build and run house my company were called in to finish didn't have much done but in checking it out it turned out that the footings and pads were not reinforced properly so we had to dig it all out and start again.
I guess good news bad news for the client because if the original builder had finished the house I can pretty much guarantee it was cracking and sinking within a year so by him doing a runner and then the client having us come in it actually saved the client millions as he would have had to demolish it and rebuild it anyway.
We have no problem taking on other Builders partial builds and if they are structurally sound then we will finish them but we don't take chances so if any doubt at all after we investigate then we would recommend a complete rebuild.

  8. Come to think of it, that boss and the  gang are from Udon Thani. It wasn't the chap who was in on the big tourist lake project in Non Sang was it?

I didn't realise doing a runner was so prevalent in Udon ...I guess that's why we are getting more and more building job offers from the area lately.
Can you name and shame them, I might be able to find out some details from the local builders and the wholesalers and maybe get some info on his whereabouts?
It's a long shot as he is probably in another province by now but worth a try.

  9. Did u pay him the 1.4 million before any work at all was done?
I am a contractor and the only payment we take in advance is the booking deposit after that we take staged payments on completion of each agreed phase. We are currently building two houses in Udon and another in Phimai and no way would we ask for money of that magnitude in advance. Was his company registered? You might be able to trace him from his registration details and follow him to see where his next job may be. What was the company name? I can ask around the area to see if anyone knows them.
Hopefully you can get something back but it's not going to be easy sorry to say. I know at least 2 other people that were in the same situation with Thai builders and never got a thing back. In the end we were called in to do the job and we just gave them the lowest price possible to try to help out but it was still a huge blow for them.

  10. Why not do IPTV and forget the cable. Much cheaper and more choices. Get a 3bb plan above the basic that gets you at least 5 meg down from your home country and you will be good. In Ubon I had 16 meg down speed in country but only 3 meg down to the US servers. Good for SD tv but not HD tv. Good luck

I use iptv but it's never gonna be 100% reliable and if I am showing a match in the bar I don't want to piss off a lot of people with buff buff buffffffff bufffff bufffffffff

  11. Have been using True internet here in Bangkok for many years and fully happy with it - does not seem to have any more issues than any others and price is competitive.  If you need sports then yes it does become costly as most are part of the more expensive options.  Am not sure that 3BB has TV options other than using your computer connection.  AIS seems to be better regarded lately as a True alternative and expect that may be available up there.  There is a dedicated area for discussion that you might want to read.

    Hi,
Thanks for reply but it was more a specific question for khon kaen as I mentioned.
As there is a company called khon kaen cable that do a competitive tv package( so I believe) but I was looking for more info on them.

  12. Hi all,

I am looking at getting tv and internet in kk and it seems 3bb is probably the best option from reading comments but has anyone dealt with khon kaen cable for tv?

I heard a bit about them but can't find a number or details on them?

    Thanks

Was hoping to get a package that does sport but true etc are crazy money and I keep hearing they are garbage.

  13. Big difference between buying and selling something in a local buy/sell page/group, and "advertising" your business there.
Also a big difference if a group of businesses set up to do joint promotion of their businesses or area, and you as an outsider advertise your business there.
I have seen lots of pages like "place name nightlife", set up by a group of bars to jointly promote themselves and the area. Its not a free for all public advertising group.
Unless a group or page is specificity called "advertise your business here", I would take it as not a public place to advertise.

80% of those for sale groups have pinned posts saying that it's ok to post your business advert and those are the groups I am talking about so again your point is incorrect and irrelevant.

  14. That is the very definition of spaming, posting adverts and the same post to multiple groups.
If you want to promote your "business" on facebook, make your own group "OR' Pay for some advertising.

    Your not making any sense?
There are thousands of groups on Facebook specifically for posting sales or advertising businesses. These are the groups we are talking about but lately when people from Thailand specifically expats post an ad in there we get penalised.
Also as I mentioned already, I do pay for adverts and still get penalised for sharing the paid advert.

  15. I have numerous ad-blocks on my browsers including Facebook...........they want to advertise, create their own website and leave my Facebook alone.  I don't agree with adverts on my facebook - so I take the time to report them all, all as Spam - I don;t ask for them, I don;t care why facebook or Google is sending me unsolicited stuff  I hide and report them all as Spam - finally after a month of constantly reporting them, I get fewer and fewer.

This is not about ads from Facebook etc this is about private individuals posting their adverts to advertising groups.
Or sharing paid adverts to groups. If you are a member of these groups then you will expect to see adverts correct?
It's hardly spam or a Facebook offence yet we get banned or restricted access for doing it.

  16. If these small businesses rely on facebook so much, why dont they buy some advertising?

I am one of the ones that keeps getting banned or restricted and my last two bans were for sharing a paid Facebook advert so it has nothing to do with that. After I got restricted for 7 days I cancelled my ad campaign as it's pointless paying for an advert you cannot share.
There is definitely something erroneous going on.
I also have my own website but in a social media world you still need Facebook so again it's nothing to do with getting a web page or paid advertising.
Regarding spam we'll how can it be Spam to post a sale advert to a sales group ???
Yet when you post to more than two you get kicked? Again it makes no sense. This has only been happening for the past month and never happened so regularly before that. I see hundreds of expats complaining about this lately so something has definitely changed.

  17. The answer you required was provided in the two links supplied. If you let your bigotry interfere that is your choice.

But send a passport through the post, seriously?

I am no bigot, I have plenty of born again friends. It's the information websites they produce that I have issues with not the people.
If you want to get into a debate on bigotry then you should actually talk to a Christian because they have no time at all for anyone that is not of their faith. I debate this all the time with my mates and they are the first to admit that. So please get off your high horse.
