I'm all for giving a fair go to everyone and every type op people when it comes to gainful employment and being part of society but such behavior by a transgender cast heavy doubt whether they are fit to be employed when it comes to children...
Ridiculous. Men end women have also abused children.

Why do you not get your pension paid into your own personal bank account, so then you can transfer to your Thai Bank, be it via Wise or Swift or other way. YOU then decide which day of the month it transfers.
As an off topic aside, isn't it strange that I can do a transfer from my current account to any other account in UK at any time of the month, day or hour and it is almost instantaneous. The computers DO NOT go to sleep.
If you're talking about Wise not being instantaneous, they work a different way. They don't actually transfer the money from your foreign bank account to your Thai bank account. For much of the world, they try to match up transactions. In other words, if you're moving money from the UK to France, they'll match that up with someone who's moving money from France to the UK. That way, they can just transfer from one UK bank account to the other, and one French bank account to the other. Obviously, this gets complex pretty quickly and relies on volume.
I don't know quite how they do it in Thailand, as you can't use Wise to transfer out. But anyway, that's why they're not instantaneous,

Apparently, it isn't only spread by homosexuals.
According to the CDC website, Monkeypox can spread from person-to-person through:
direct contact with the infectious rash, scabs, or body fluids
- respiratory secretions during prolonged, face-to-face contact, or during intimate physical contact, such as kissing, cuddling, or sex
- touching items (such as clothing or linens) that previously touched the infectious rash or body fluids
- pregnant people can spread the virus to their fetus through the placenta.
Seems to be anyone can pass it on.
I'm general, gay men may be more likely to check out skin abnormalities more quickly than straight men. The numbers might be misleading.

Just because they're not making good progress with air pollution, doesn't mean they should stop all other forms of progress and wait.
Smoking is one of the greatest evils in history, killing somewhere around 7 million people per year, and causing illness in many times that number. At the same time, I think people should have the right to smoke, if they want to.
Outlaw it in all public places, and give smokers designated areas in which to smoke. They did this in Washington state years ago and it was a tremendous improvement.

To get peer reviewed studies on flu death in Thailand then you can visit a previous post I did on this here:
2005 - 2009
On average, 6 people in every 100,000 were estimated to die each year in Thailand as a result of seasonal influenza, representing 4,000 deaths per year.
2006 - 2011
The average annual influenza-associated mortality per 100 000 persons was 4·0 (so less than the above study of 4,000 yearly deaths)
In the US, flu deaths/year typically run 20k - 60k. That's from roughly 300 million people. I wouldn't expect Thailand, with 1/4 as many people would have 100,000 flu deaths.

Where did you get your figures for 100,000 deaths for flu and Pneumonia for 2021? I suspect its from this misleading website here
https://www.worldlifeexpectancy.com/country-health-profile/thailand
A few points on those figures
1) They are for the period 3rd Jan 2020 through to 15th April 2022
2) The figures do not separate out Flu and Pneumonia deaths
3) The website has stated it gets its figures from WHO, yet WHO has not published those figures in any publicily available documents, it also states on the website that the figures are from WHO in 2018 yet these are 2020 - 2022?
4. To give them one piece of credit they do say in their disclaimer: Data Accuracy Not Guaranteed

Thw whole country, even Phuket, are in orange or red. Thailand us sucking up its own air pollution.
Phuket Town is 59 aqi as I type, and has mostly remained in the yellow or green zones last few times I checked.
As for all these pictures of pristine mountaintops -- you can see the gray in the air as you look out over the distance. I can generally tell in the city, when the aqi is high by how quickly the gray appears in the distance. If you have a meter reading that says it's good, that will convince me. Just because you see white fuzzy clouds and blue sky doesn't mean it's good air.
Air pollution Is a risk for stroke and heart disease as well as the more obvious lung cancer and emphysema.
One of the reasons I moved from Chiang Mai is that the air is not that great, even when it's not burning season, with the exception of immediately after a hard rain. I didn't like the risk factor over 10-15 years.

How much of it was used to combine with your income to reach 800k baht? That is the important amount.l
It might be best to keep the 700k in the bank from the day you applied for the extension.
Half of the money in the bank you used with your annual income to reach 800k baht.
The monthly deposits were between roughly 39k and 43k. My bank balance ranged from about 612,000 -- 780,00 during the year.
Am I right in assuming, if I keep the 700k in the bank for 3 months, and then don't go below 400k for the rest of the length of extension, and deposit 65k every month, I should be good to switch to income only next year?

If you used the combination of income and funds in the bank the funds only need to be in the bank for 3 months after the day you applied and then at least half of it until you apply for the next extension using the income option.
I assume you will be able to show at least a year of months 65k baht transfer from abroad when you apply for your next extension.
Thanks UbonJoe,
How much do I need to keep in for the next 3 months? I've got about 700k in now.
And I assume by half, you mean I need to keep 400k in until my next renewal. Is that accurate?

US citizen, Phuket immigration.
I just renewed my extension of stay, using the combo method for my non-O (retirement), but I'd like to switch to income only.
I'm a bit confused as to what I have to do this coming year. I know I must deposit 65k every month from overseas. But is there a minimum balance requirement for this coming year?
Is there a minimum balance requirement for the next year?
TIA ????
PS: I want to put this money to work, so I'd rather not park the 800k, if I can avoid it.

In Phuket Town Bangkok Bank, they told me they could email the statements to me. This was two days ago, and the statements arrived in about 36 hours.
I still have to go back to get them stamped, however. You might ask if the branch can email them.
This was news to me. I'd number heard of it before.

And the taxi mafia continues unabated. Police are gushing over civilians doing some good. How about getting your guys to do their job and shut down the mafia.
354 baht from Phuket Town to Patong right now, on Grab. It's 15 kilometers. About $11. The same taxi ride in Seattle would be $25-$30 (USD), I think.
I'm guessing the prices would be different if you flag a taxi down on the street in Patong. But if you know about the apps, the prices have gotten considerably better.
-
As far as I understand, Phuket immigration will do the monthly transfer method, but only combo. You must keep 400,000 in the bank at all times, but can meet the remainder of the requirement with monthly transfers.
No straight income 65k transfer method allowed. So, it may also depend on which office you use.
Someone correct me if I'm wrong. I'd be happy to unlock those funds.

I just checked on Grab, from Phuket Town to Patong Beach (9.32 kilometers) is 367 baht. This is at about 4 PM. There's another setting on Grab that offers cheaper trips, but I've never gotten anyone to pick me up with it. Prices are lower when it's not a peak time -- under 300, a lot of the time for this same trip.
Things have improved a lot in the past few months, on Grab. I no longer find taxi prices a big problem in Phuket.
InDriver and Bolt here, too. You can beat Grab prices by quite a bit, if you like. Frankly, I don't mind paying a fair price.
But if you're wandering around on the street and ask a taxi driver, yeah. Chances are good they'll try to double the price.

Stripe Atlas has a $500 setup fee, but then allows you to operate as a US business.

I had them refuse to refund to a credit card, and only offer store credit. I didn't use the store credit soon enough and it expired. I complained, and got it back, but it was a lot of hassle.

I'm not saying Sinovac is good. But that study, as far as I can tell, is measuring antibody levels only. There are other aspects of protection from vaccines.

Perhaps you won't consider this constructive, but I'm renting what I consider a nice condo in Phuket. Good price right now. I see a few people coming and going with suitcases. I'm guessing it's Airbnb. But I'd estimate 20% or less occupancy.
My floor has 30 units, I think. It has been a week since I've seen anyone on my floor, except staff.

Don't trust any advice here that's not directly backed up by a reading on an air quality meter. I've been to a few places that people on this forum claimed were largely pollution free, and my meter said otherwise.
Basically, as far as I've been able to confirm, you have to get well south of Bangkok to get out of the majority of the air pollution.
Phuket usually has a couple of bad weeks out of the year, and is generally moderate or better pollution levels otherwise.
That being said, right now is not the best in phuket, with readings in or near the unhealthy range the last week or so. This last week has been the first time I've run an air filter in many months.
Air pollution is a risk for heart disease and stroke, as well as the lung cancer and emphysema you'd expect. Some of these conditions, you might not get advance notice before you have a serious problem. So ignore any of the "It doesn't bother me" folks.
Aqi.org is a good resource with a map, but confirm the reporting stations are measuring 2.5.

Imagine if this happened a century or two ago when genetics, molecular biology, immunology, epidemiology and microbiology were either non-existent or in their infancy. It would have eradicated most of the planet's population and most of us wouldn't be here as a result of our ancestral lineage having been wiped out. This is a scary scourge.
100 years ago, there were maybe 1/4 the number of people on earth. Less population density. A lot less mobility. People weren't flying across world like they do now.
I'm not one of these "the virus only kills .02%" people, but even without vaccinations (which didn't start to hit their stride yet), it wouldn't have eradicated the Earth's population. Not even close.
