  1. I was on holiday there through the Marcos era. I stayed @ the Manila Hotel opposite Rizal Park. Inside was first class but upon leaving the hotel you were searched for security purposes. It took ages to get a taxi to Makati.

I was almost scammed by a family. The young lady was very attentive. We had a poker game & I was almost in big trouble.

I said that I was going back to the hotel for more $$$.

Thankfully, my neighbor in Oz had given me a contact. I started to return to lady & she fled.

BTW, in BKK, the same scam was tried. I merely asked whether they were Filipino & they fled.

I prefer to call them border runs since a person in reality does not get a visa. Many of them are not solely to get a new visa exempt entry since others are to get a new entry from a multiple entry visa of some kind.

Before the 2 visa exempt entry per calendar rule went into effect Mae Sai was not allowing a crossing unless it was with a valid visa for re-entry.

I suggest that you are being pedantic Joe.

    The practical effect is similar.

I have known people use border runs so that they do not need to pay for the retirement visa guarantee or they lack the funds.

Can anyone please tell me what happens if or when the powers that be decide that i have been here too long.

I know i am pushing the set limits regarding living here as a full time tourist, but all i would like to know is  what is the proceedure .

Next time i go to Vientiane and get a TV and at the border the IO decides that i am not wanted here any more, does he just, there and then  refuse my entry or does he give this red stamp i hear about and lets me stay for the duration of my visa and then i must go back to my old home country?

    Thanks for any relevant info.
