  1. It appears the lady lived alone. Didn't the maid live-in? Seems not, the article says she was informed the next day. So she didn't discover the body, then who did? If maid/friend for 17 years, why didn't she live in when her boss had cancer? How did the lady have a gun? A lot of unanswered questions.

UPDATE: Two New Zealand Suspects in Alleged Assault of Thai Cop to Have Visas Revoked, Head to Court
    By Goongnang Suksawat

General Surachet has informed the press that he has instructed Major General Songprod Sirisukkha, the Immigration Region 6 Commander, to cancel the visas of the two New Zealand men in question and prohibit their entry into Thailand in the future.

The Chalong Police Chief, Colonel Eakkarat Plaiduang, revealed that these two individuals are currently being taken to the Phuket Provincial Court today (March 18th).

The two suspects are facing charges related to robbery, assaulting or resisting an officer on duty, and driving without a valid license. Despite allegedly attempting to bribe the police to avoid further charges, their efforts were unsuccessful.

Additionally, the New Zealand embassy has been notified of the situation.

Bribery attempt unsuccessful. Obviously their reputations were insulted by being offered a bribe, or not.

I was born in Busan.  I grew up in California and have been back to the "Land of the morning calm" many times.  When I go back to Korea I am a JAF (Just Another Foreigner).  Korea does not allow dual citizenship.   I think it is less racism and probably xenophobia or even the old feeling of "my country and my people are better than you".  Many Koreans are fiercely proud of their country, customs and contributions to the world.  That is if KPOP or KDramas are actually contributions?  Th truth is Korea has the lowest birthrate in the developed world (this from the OECD) and desperately needs foreign workers.  Of course the expectation is people from SE Asia will do the DDD jobs (Dirty, Dangerous and Dehumanizing).  Does anyone think a Thai National will get an office job at Samsung Headquarters.

You got it 100% and Japan is the same, though they have made advances in making such people, especially from Philippines, legal.

We came in on a flight with Qatar last week, on the evening of February 5th and must have been dropped off there, as we then had to get the new subway to the main terminal building to clear immigration and collect our bags.

We couldn't see very much except the subway train due to giant hoardings around the place.

Immigration was quite easy, we arrived at this terminal, took the subway to main terminal, collected bags, cleared immigration and were sat in the taxi from Suvarnabhumi to DMK within 55 minutes.

That would imply there are no immigration facilities at the new terminal; that you still have to clear immigration at the main terminal.

Immigration time varies with your arrival time. I usually arrive from the Philippines around 5pm; no sweat. But last year my flight on PAL, needless to say, was delayed 5 hours, meaning we arrived along with many flights from Europe. It took one and a half hours just to clear immigration. Incidentally, as a 77 year old, standing around for that length of time is no joke.

A high-profile socialite vehemently denied allegations of blackmail after accusing a well-known high-society individual, the son of a prominent politician, of sexual assault. Police are expediting their investigation, seeking testimony from an additional witness who reportedly aided the victim’s escape.

Officials are prepared to issue a summons to the young high-society man today, stressing that there has been no external pressure on the case.

At 3pm today, February 12, at the Prawet Police Station, legal advisors Aekaphop Luengpradit and Suchada Thansathit supported the 25 year old victim, known as Miss A (a pseudonym), in following up on her case. She alleges that the 27 year old son of Aphichai Techa-udom, a powerful politician and executive committee member of the ruling Palang Pracharath Party (PPRP), attempted to overpower and molest her.

The incident reportedly took place in Nong Bon, Prawet District, at 7.30pm on February 8.

Miss A recounts initially encountering the suspect at a restaurant before being taken to the location of the incident. She later reflected on the traumatic experience and decided to pursue legal action, expressing her trust in the legal process to prevent a recurrence with someone else.

We had the same problem with a European style house we built and put for rent on our land.

My other half's father had died, not in that house, but on the terrace. He never stayed nor slept in the house.

Stories by Thais in the village and gossip to any Thais seeking to rent from us, even those who had stopped in the village to ask for directions to our place, saw a few people walk away, no matter how much we reassured them it wasn't true.

We have now rented it to a Filipina teacher here, the problem and silly superstitions..... SOLVED!

Really, you do surprise me. Filipinos are every bit as superstitious as Thais. I rented out a house to a Korean family in Manila. The father and family went to Korea, leaving his brother behind. The brother hung himself from the railings on the upper floor hallway. I couldn't rent it out till I had a priest hold a blessing/party inviting any neighbours who may gossip to prospective tenants.

If you are a visitor and not a regular at the bar scene, how would you know a girl is underage?

So you pop into a bar for a drink, have a few, then expected to know if a girl (first of all, is a girl, then is under or over 18 years old [if that is the age].

I was in Manilla staying at this hotel and 2 young Americans were having a great time, then I didn't see them for about a week, then They came in one morning and quickly left.

Seems they met some girls at the local Mac cafe.

2 am in the morning so said non-uniform, gun toting undercover police took them out of the hotel and kept them for ransom because the girls from the Mac cafe were underage.

They had to withdraw money from their ATM for the police then off to the airport.

    Boy were they scared.

Probably framed by the police, a common scenario in the Philippines.

Landlords with five or more residential properties will now fall under the Consumer Protection Bureau’s definition of a contract controlled business. The Contract Committee issued the“Notification of the Contract Committee Re: The Stipulation of Residential Property Leasing as a Contract-Controlled Business B.E. 2561 (2018)” and it was published in the Government Gazette on February 16, 2018. The new regulations will take effect on May 1, 2018. One of the new regulations is:

    • The lessee has the right to terminate the lease agreement early with a minimum of 30 days advance written notice given to the landlord.

Therefore, show your lease to a lawyer to confirm there is no clause about termination in your contract. Seems odd there is not. If the landlord has less than 5 properties for rent, it’s all down to your contract. Also how many months deposit did you give? These guys that have commented actually have no idea what they are talking about. Dangers of posting these types of legal questions in a forum. Speak to a lawyer unless the deposit amount is under 10,000 Baht, as that would not be worth fighting over and let’s take a look at what the termination clause  says in your contract. The lawyer can also confirm the landlord’s property status.

Not all conditions are stated in the contract because they are the laws (contract law) governing the contract. Such as, you signed a binding contract to stay and pay for one year. Therefore, you must pay for one year, even if you decide to leave earlier.
