  1. I can confirm that this was a special invitation to a group of young trainees (who are under a programme of the Ministry of Defence) to enable them to interact with foreigners; to practice their English skills and to get an introduction to police and security issues in a major tourist city. This is totally unrelated to any other Army endeavours despite the above speculations.

  2. defamatory post removed, Please be aware of Forum rule 11)

    11) You will not post slurs, degrading or overly negative comments directed towards Thailand, specific locations, Thai institutions such as the judicial or law enforcement system, Thai culture, Thai people or any other group on the basis of race, nationality, religion, gender or sexual orientation.

  3. Post removed under forum rule 6)

    6) You will not post comments that could be reasonably construed as defamation or libel.

Defamation is the issuance of a statement about another person or business which causes that person to suffer harm. It does not have to be false to be defamatory. Libel is when the defamatory statement is published either in a drawing, painting, cinematography, film, picture or letters made visible by any means, or any other recording instruments, recording picture or letters, or by broadcasting or spreading picture, or by propagation by any other means. Defamation is both a civil and criminal charge in Thailand.

  4. There has been no official notice that I know of and, anyway, each municipality seemingly can decide themselves how to act upon any notice if it is given. My advice is unless your local police (municipal or other) have told you differently then you can open as usual. They are usually very late in issuing instructions because they themselves get those instructions at the last minute from higher up.
