And God forbid that you actually were stupid enough to fly to Thailand with a family, and one of the Kids proved positive or something similar.
That is of course if yopur Tour Company will provide you any Insurance at all for visiting .
You both "sound like" hillbilly US republican naysayers. If my child had a false positive then I would demand another test maybe even from a hospital or something. Do you actually think that they would throw your child into state quarantine or cancel your holiday. Wow...imagine the PR.
If in fact the child did was proven positive then what do you think should happen?
It's unsubstantiated opinions like this that create unnecessary issues not to different from the big lie in the US

Agreed! It's like there is bunch of grumpy old crones in here that no matter what is said...complain...complain...complain. It's a model to test the waters and show that things are working again here in Thailand so people think about coming here again this winter.
It is amazing how the complaining cronies forget about all the hurdles everyone went through (and continues to go through) in their own countries.

Yeah...that post was unbelievable...as well as untrue. Just about everywhere I eat has been offering lots of pricing deals and specials during Covid.

Ok
To much to cover however
This guy basically is in charge of the model and explains it well. The only update to this segment is that the gov confirmation for go ahead was not released until after this show aired.

in Phuket you are in at least 14 day quarantine area... but they don't name it like that. and they follow your doings because you need an app to track your health conditions as they say. People who go on holiday want to relax and have fun. But in Phuket you will be overcharged for everything. It always was and will be. Stupid rules as at 15.00 you want a beer on the beach, but no alcohol sales, very expensive because the of the THB, and almost always when you come back you have to be in quarantine in your own country...Yes very relaxing with al lot of hussle before you visit Phuket and quarantine if you come home ripped and followed as a prisoner
Well there you have it. The oracle has spoken....dribs and drabs of opinionated misinformation driven by a lack of understanding of what the sandbox concept is designed to do.

Anything at all to do with Covid was always going to be a big issue with the Thai population.
Like it's any different in most other countries around the globe.

But in the northern hemisphere it is not winter but summer. 107F in Palm Springs today and 86F in Portland, Oregon.
Thanks for the update. My comment was in reaction to the announcement that only 20 Americans are coming. Why? Because most people in the northern hemisphere travel in the cold winter months.
PS everyone including Thais know that those north of the equator are enjoying spring and summer at home and don't usually come til fall and winter.

Wow !
Phuket seems to be bottom of the heap for Tourists.
You would think with all the C##p then Americans have been through with this awful Covid, they would be busting to get away to the Sun for a few weeks.
Maybe they are getting away, just not to Phuket.
It's commonly known that most northern hemisphere countries come to the tropics in the cold winter months...so I would not read too much into the headline.

Will Phuket open July 1. The answer is yes. With other key vacation markets opening albeit with controls and restrictions, Thailand must follow the lead. The gov is finally realizing (as is other holiday markets) that they will not attain zero cases. Pandemic thinking must shift to endemic management for the sake of the countries already devastated economy.
There is a lot riding on this opening with a number of foreign airlines scheduling flights. Failing to deliver at this point will completely destroy more than just local business.

Surprised about this announcement. New normal which has been thrown around by leading virologists for the last year doesn't mean New Normal for a few years.

Normal life will be when the whole country has their second jab and than after 6 weeks, people can start slowly to take the normal life back. But with this slow and delaying working Government it will take at least 2 years before things get normal again
Things will never be as they were before. Unfortunately this is optimist's dream. Maybe they can take steps to minimize future issues by "I don't know" ....actually having soap and something clean to dry your hands with in the toilets as 1 small example.

Seems (from another thread today) that there are a large number of petrified and over anxious Americans in Thailand too. At least they aren't also penniless and worried about having no income, like so many Thais.
Well 60 % maybe. If stats hold true abroad then about 40% in the US think the pandemic is a hoax.

My friends wife who is from Cambodia was called to attend her first vaccine yesterday (Has work permit) after a 20 k drive to the center was told sorry vaccine finished and sent away .koh Samui. what a BS
Sounds like the US when it started it's own vaccination process. As well as most other countries for that matter.
-
I live on a small island in PhangNga province and the health authority just came to the house for vaccine registration. Wasn't even looking for vaccination at this point. Apparently the jab is in June. I assumed this would be consistent throughout the kingdom.

Yes, the groaning and moaning is terrible in here. Reminds me of my crusty ole' grandad that had nothing positive to say about anything. It's warm, it's beautiful (where I live anyway) and wouldn't change anything. The quirkiness makes me smile everyday.

I wonder how many years are you going to accept covering your face? seriously, I mean how many? if we don't have faces, we are not human, life is short... We need to protect life... but that assumes life is meaningful and worth living... cowering in our homes and covering our faces for years kinda diminishes what life is....
Welcome to the new normal.

Lol. Do you really believe that 300 baht will cover all medical fees?
When it is time, they will say it doesn't cover A, B, C,D etc. meaning you still have to pay.
A- surgery
B- professional doctor fees
C- chronic disease
The 300 baht will probably only cover minor illness like food poisoning, sore throat, fever etc.
Unless I am interpreting the article incorrect, 300 baht fee is NOT to cover anything for you personally. What I believe their saying is that it is an upcharge, justified in their minds, due to the fact that many foreigners have skipped on their hospital bills. This is meant to off set those losses.
You can thank the foreign "scam bags" that do this.
