  1. I am pretty sure that nobody actually jumped in a cab and took off.

Arrived this morning from Phnom Penh on an Air Asia flight. ( 50 passangers) There was a 5 minute wait for the bus to arrive at the plane. After a short bus ride to the terminal we all left the bus...proceeded up the escalator ....turned left and into the arrivals hall. This was the Domestic arrivals hall ! Some guys with only hand luggage actually ventured through to where taxis were waiting.

There was no mass panic with Air Asia ground staff.....or immigration or bells going off. We approached an info kiosk and after a few phone and radio calls we were led on a long walk back to International arrivals and the Immigration desks.

    Regards, Off road.

    Oh brilliant! :D

This had to happen of course..

Did the guys that got off with no check-in actually make it off with no entry stamp? They could be in for a shock when they come to depart if so... :o

  3. Thanks for the replies before, I'm going to Vientianne next week for a marriage non-imm 0, could anyone tell me what I need to take apart from my marriage and kid's birth certs.

    Thanks

Also the letter from yer bank stating that you have the 400k there

Copy of the letter you would have had to submit( from your embassy. to the marriage office...stating that you were single ,and free to marry... at the time of registering it.

I mention these two points as I was in immigration in Bkk this morning to apply for a Non-Imm O.....based on marriage.

    Cheers, Off road

  4. A week ago I would have said you need to obtain a real visa entry of some type but there have been several reports that this may not be true now so I would check with Immigration as they may be able to do directly. If not it should be easy to obtain a visa from a nearby Consulate. A non immigrant O visa with your marriage certificate, birth certificates, copy wife id card, copy wife home register should be available most places and even a tourist visa could be used. The 90 day entry would allow you 60 plus days to get everything in order if you want to go for the retirement type (which is preferred if you can do it).

    Hello! Again,

Just to inform you that one CAN change from a "Visa On Arrival" ( 30 day) to a Non Imm 'O'.

My trip to Soi Suan Plu this morning went as follows :

Arrived there about 9AM with all my documerts + photo copys. A brief check at the info counter on the ground floor...and was directed to Room 301 on the 3rd floor. Did not have to wait...and within a minute I was seated in front of an Immigration Official.

There is ONE very important document which I did not have. That is the letter...or copy of...which I had to get from MY embassy to show that I was single......Before I was married that is ! The lady said that if I did not have a copy in my files at home, then I could obtain one from the marriage office in Prakanong. She also gave me her mobile number should I have a problem in Prakanong.

In my files I have a certified copy of the above paper.....have called the lady at Immigration ...and have a meeting with her next Wednesday 27th. The wife also has to attend in person. She also requires a photo copy of my Visa card along wirh one ATM withdrawl slip.

This will get me a Non-Immigrant 'O'.....then go downstairs for the multi re entry stamp.

Yesterday I went to the Bkk Bank at Soi 8, Sukhumvit, to get the letter which states I have 400K there. The whole process took under 10 minutes...cost was 200 baht.

Will let you know the end result on the 27th.

Thank you Lopburi3 for your hasty reply. Interesting! I have all the necessary documents here with me......just need to photocopy; and I will go to immigration on Tuesday morning. Just one more question: why do you say that the retirement visa is preferred?

I shall post again here after going to Immigration on Tuesday.

    Cheers,

  6. Hello Everybody,

I have read various posts re: obtaining a Non Imm 'O' Visa ; and I would like one important point clarified. I arrived this morning in Bkk and have a 30 day VOA. Can I now (this week) apply at Soi Suan Plu for a non- imm 'O' visa OR marriage visa. I am 50, married ( to a Thai ) , have two kids, have the 400K in the bank, (I could double that in the near future if a retirement visa was more suited to me,) and bring in at least 1 Million Baht per annum. (via Visa card for school fees)

OR, do I have to apply from outside Thailand?

Cheers, and I hope that someone can clarify my question.

  7. Hi Mobi,

    Happy Smile Dental Polyclinic

    M Floor, Maneeya Center Building

    518/5 Ploenchit Road,

    Patumwan,

    Bangkok 10500

    Tel: 254-8146, 254-8395

It is a couple of hundred meters down from Central, on the opposit side of Ploenchit.

I had a lot of dental treatment done there...root canals....bridges ...the works. It took 2 years....completed 5 years ago. Cost me over 200K (Baht). Have been trouble free since. Every 3 months I go for a clean....900 baht. My dentist was Dr.Suraporn......not sure if he is still there now though. Not cheap.....but quality work imho.

    Hope this is of help.........Offroad

I suppose it was bound to happen. I checked out all the Pattaya dentists as recommended in this forum, and none of them looked too great, except the Bangkok Pattaya. Well as I need some pretty major dental work, I decided money was no object and opted for the "best". I should add that it was suggested that I might want to go for a local anaesthetic if I was a coward (which I am), but I finally decided to brave it out with injections.

My first session was due this afternoon at 3.30 pm. I presented myself at 3.20, handed over the appointment slip and was asked to sit down and "wait a moment please". I didn't feel too bad, but as the minutes ticked by, I started to get more and more nervous. By 4.30 pm I was still waiting and was a quivering wreck. I asked the girl to explain the delay. She said "who are you?" I told her - she checked her pile of appontment slips and found mine at the bottom of the pile. "Oh I'm sorry sir, no one told me you were here, the doctor is with another patient now". " You mean the one that was due after me?" "Yes"

I went downstairs to complain at the customer service desk. The girl gave me a form to fill in. "I don't want a form, I want to speak to someone." She said:"No one to talk to, just put your suggestions on the form."

    SUGGESTIONS!!!

Now I'm talking about at least 60K of dental treatment, plus all my ongoing medical fees for diabetes, heart disease, glaucoma, and God knows what else.

Maybe they don't need my business - anyway they've sure lost it.

I can't find it, but someone recommended a good dental hospital in BKK recently. If not I might as well do everything in Bumrungrad - I doubt it's any more expensive, and I'm sure they have better, more experienced doctors there. And I can enjoy a day out in the big Mango. :o

    TIT :D
