That gunshop owner is simply clueless or giving calculated (yet still stupid) answers:
+) weapons in Thailand not as deadly as weapons in the US ????♂️????????
+) no masshootings possible with weapons available to the public in Thailand ????♂️????????
+) in Thailand gun dealers tell parents not to show their guns to their kids ????♂️????????
I need stop here, though I am still shaking my head. What a muffin.

Let's assume 3x holes in body work and 1x tire makes 4 spent cases shot by the perpetrator.
Another 4 spent cases supposedly shot from police. 8 holes in the perpetrators body could be realistic if media counted entry & exit wound separately.

If the law is followed, cannabis with 0.2% THC won’t cause a problem. Unfortunately, it’s not being followed and THC content nearer 100 times that is being sold.
In higher concentrations (enough to give a high) it can cause mental illness in a significant proportion of people and affects brain development in most young and still developing brains.
I am not sharing an opinion, I am stating medical fact.
Thailand is ill prepared for mental illness.
You are sharing an opinion since your facts are wrong.
It starts with the THC content which is an uninformed opinion of yourself and not reality based.

Although I don't agree with teachers hitting students, we can see the consequences of corporal punishment being banned completely in many of the youth today. They know they can do whatever they want and get away with it Scott free. We see this in many of our home countries. That having been said, I think the main reason corporal punishment was banned is because some teachers couldn't control themselves and administered too much punishment. They went overboard. As a consequence, it had to be prohibited.
A "healthy" balance would be the ideal solution, but we don't live in a perfect world.
I got the odd clip around the ear and ruler down the palms of my hands as a young lad and I turned out okay. More times than not, I deserved it.
"Corporal punishment vs. undisciplined thugs" or is it a case of "out of control teachers vs. innocent students"?
I disagree.
What does a child learn when being hit by a person of authority?
Nothing other than it is acceptable to lay hands on another person.
Eager to hit people? Join the martial arts community.
Corporal punishment has no place, it's a matter of evolving. I understand your references but I am of the opinion that more violence is not a solution.

Now, if anyone could please explain to me how marijuana could be put into food secretly as this baker claimed. ????????????
No clue the guy and, by extension a few members of this forum as well it seems. Really the only way I could think of is lacing a cookie with marijuana butter or oil. And that's not how it's generally done to be honest.
Sprinkling parts of the plant onto food does exactly 0 witg regards to psychoactive effects. Zero.
I think it's a bogus claim by a baker who has actually no idea what he is talking about but jumped on his chance for 15 minutes fame.

A lot of the time, the banks just want to see money coming into an account. My wife was in a similar circumstance, market stall, sells online, sells property etc, so no tax/business records.
We just cycled money through her account (often the same money) for a couple of months and the bank was happy.
Thanks that is a pretty interesting approach as my wife has had regular rental income over an extended time.
May I bother you to advise on which bank did you go with in the end?

I hope this is the right subforum, if not mods could you please move it accordingly?
Now here is my question. Wife is in possession of a debt free condo conservatively valued at THB 6.0m.
An opportunity arose where we were offered an undervalued condo and would like to take out a mortgage of up to THB 2.0m.
Now comes the issue: wife is freelancer and tac records have been on the very low side for the last two+ years (for obvious reasons). First few banks we have contacted wouldn't even consider such a secured loan as all they are asking for is a letter of a company confirming last 6 months employment ????♂️
Does any of you knowledgeable members have an idea how we could still get a mortgage with reasonable interest rate?
I will also be happy to receive direct message on this topic.
Best regards,
Jochen

Haven't peeked in 20 yrs, but surely there's places to put money that give 8-10% returns yearly, some even paying dividends. Someones posted something a while ago "Dividend Aristocrats" funds paying dividends every year, in fact, increased every year.
It's not rocket science ... that took less than 5 minutes to find.

Stocks are a lot of things, but I would not consider them a safe investment.
If you only make 10% on a hand-picked stock though, then better index the S&P.

if you are a US resident, the US Treasury is offering 7.5% on a savings bond for individuals
Good example, also interesting. Unfortunately, it doesn't apply to me as non US citizen.
Also, I understand that there is limitations, eg. Series I bond can only be bought up to US$5,000?

Or park it in a nice, safe 5-8-10% return, and play with that every month, after the 1st year. Can't take it with you, spend it.
Safe 5-8-10% return.
Could you please elaborate, I would be very curious in any safe 5-8-10% return, especially in the 8-10% range.

1. Don't loose money.
2. Never forget rule #1.
Now, if you can do then with crypto, than that's an asset class for you to invest. Doesn't mean it's for anyone.
There is people that manage to adhere to above 2 rules when trading futures. Doesn't mean it's for anyone.
With regards to risk, any investment that pays high % carries almost always higher risk than an investment that pays less %. It's as simple as that.

There is no 6 month requirement to apply for a extension of stay,
If your passport has less time remaining on it before the the extension will end it will only be issued to the day your passport expires,
@ubonjoein such a case, let's say I get a new passport before end of extension. Would that extension be transferrable to new passport and what would be most likely standard procedure? I know, it could differ in details between offices but certain details tend to be universal Thailand-wide, eg. official cost. Is there cost involved? Which docs (TM) would I need?

One hour to the next hospital will be close enough, even in case of Cobra bite.
Instead of focusing on AV, I would recommend to learn and train First Aid practises with regards to snake bites. Eg, wound cleaning/disinfecting and correct bandaging. Another poster pointed out a very good point: staying calm and keeping heart rate down.
OP, I don't want to promote certain businesses openly here but will ve happy to answer your PM in this regard.

Recently I have made good experiences with Beaverman: https://www.beaverman.com
They're not a contractor, more like a project management provider. Meaning, after contacting them they and reps from various contractors showed up for a site inspection. Then, we received 3 different quotes from 3 different contractors and went along with the one that fitted our requirements best.
There was a clear stage-by-stage contract in place with defined which work needed to be finished by which stage and what amount of money was due.
Naturally this is a more expensive solution as Beaverman takes a 10% cut. However, we did a whole wall with piles and 20 micro pile project with them. It takes out a lot of the uncertainty and also potentially running off of the contractors. However, I was present daily to supervise the workers still.
Good luck!

Hi,
As stated in the title I am looking for a specialist for Asthma in Bangkok. It probably could be Allergic Asthma. However, this had never been tested hence, I would like a specialist to narrow it down
The recent visit to Bangkok Hospital was rather disappointing with the doctor just really focused to offload overpriced medicine (Inhaler for THB777, same is sold for THB280 at a pharmacy outside).
I am looking forward to any input with regards to recommendations of specialist in Bangkok on this issue.

OP, if you want to part with 5000 Baht for a very rapid PCR test (less than 2 hrs apparently), the folks from Samitivej Hospital are currently robbing people on the 3rd Floor (below Departures) of Suvarnabhumi Airport.Thanks. That's actually what I was looking for! ????

Top hotel? ????
Currently, you will get a room at Sheraton Grande for less than that.
It's a 5 star hotel.
Add another THB1,000 to the initial number and you will get a room at Shangri-La. That indeed is a top hotel in my book.

Thanks for the replies.
Since Antigen Test is a valid test for my destination and the law provides for a 48hr time window from result to arrival at destination that seems the way to go.
Anyone else happy to share their antigen test experiences for international travel?
Recommendations for Air Purifiers please.
in General Topics
Posted · Edited by fabruer
For larger areas or different rooms I could recommend AirDeveloppa Air Purifiers. I use 3 of them since two years.
Best price/value I found, reliable and easy. They're straight forward in everything, also design. Meaning they don't look like a prop but air flow is unrivaled in my opinion.
They don't run too quiet though, especially on high.
For sleeping room I use one of these SmartAir purifiers, 3 speeds manual switch. Filters are a bit more expensive at 4x change per year at THB4,000 total. With 3 cats that's not to be avoided. No pets, 2x filter would do. Once if you clean and maintain the filter regularly.
If you have the money to spend go for a reputable brand, look at filter sizes and prices.
If on a budget avoid bells and whistles. The simpler the unit the better. Makes for long life and easy maintenance.
