he is one of the chosen people who own miracle aircons. you find them in all threads pertaining to electricity consumption.

if he unplugs his fridge and TV his meter runs backwards with the aircon on full blast. :whistling:

Lolol, you people in this forum are so salty. Have to argue with everything. I use the aircon from average 7pm until 9am, fridge is always on, never use the TV it is actually unplugged.

If you actually looked at the government pricing you would realise it is actually less than 4baht. My aircon is brand new, so is the fridge. Fridge is on the lowest setting and aircon is mostly on 28 - at nights is on 26.

And here is my receipt since your brain struggles to believe it.

You are very lucky man. 500 Bht is 125 units per month / 30 = 4.14 units per day. A small fridge will take at least one unit, a 9BTU a/c takes between 500 and 1000 watts, depending on condition and temperature selected. Lets average it at 750 x 14 = 10.5 units PER DAY, 300 per month x 4 Bht per unit. You don't have to be Rachel Riley to do the maths.

My bill was 138 units, which I have already stated. 497/133 = around 3.6 baht a unit.

I don't see your point? Or what you are even getting at.

You must have a tiny room with the lowest rated AC unit
    No other explanation for it.

Adding condo size would actually add meaning to the spend

    I have 80 sqm and 2x 24000 Btu 14 hours a day and pay 4k

40 sqm, but only use Aircon in the bedroom, aircon in living room used about 10 hours a month. This month I used 138 units, 497baht.

Don't see why people are so mad and confused, the guy's lived here since he's 2, gets dual citizenship after being accepted.

I don't know why Americans are so adamant America is the best in the world while living in Thailand?

I think people should stop bashing this guy, it is his life and his choice.

Getting Thai citizenship would help him with visa, healthcare and just make general life easier.

As has been stated many times over,

parcels sent to Thailand via the established couriers (DHL / FedEx / UPS) are a magnet for customs duties.

Use regular postal service as suggested.

Using regular postal service would've been more expensive then paying for DHL and the tax lol.

But thanks everyone for the responses, wasn't a big loss but just wanted to confirm they way they charged it was correct or not.

  6. Hi,

So I sent a parcel to Thailand, it had an assessed value of 1100 and was charged 1400 in customs duty, import goods vat and disbursement.

Do they include the price of shipping when they do their 30% for the customs duty? For example is it: value of items + value of shipping = blah and then take 30%?

    Thank you

Depends on your age, looks and how good you are at talking. With the right ingredients you don't even have to buy some food for the girls ;)

Yup, I've actually had a lot of Thai girls pay for dates, I mean they didn't even give me a chance to pay and when I offered the money they didn't accept it.

I live on a budget here just so I can stay longer, never affected me meeting girls often.
