  1. I am a the ripe old age of 32....

Planning to head back to Thailand in August for a visit of unknown duration. :o:D:D

Well then, sounds like you have a girlfriend :D I'll be back in Patong in July myself after dealing with business issues here in New Mexico. I met my GF on my 3rd long stay in Thailand in the pleasant area of Patong. A civilian, her university degree was in microbiology. Our first date didn't include sex. Thai women who are not bar girls do not want to be thought of as bar girls. Our relationship grew and we became very close. Met the family, stayed together, etc; but it didn't happen overnight. We talk daily while I'm over here and I enjoy her company. There are many on this board who assume all Thai women are bad news. There are many who are in long term relationships with Thai women. Very similar opinions about American women in the states too, eh?

  2. 80% of board members have found love with a girl like yours and most are delighted. Keep up the good work

    A positive post MC......... :D:o

Follow yer heart man, it might let you down fut buck it. Keep smilin. :D:D:D

I didn't notice you mention your age. If you're 52 take a pass on romance. Friends are very valuable however. Thai women tend to mature later than in the west IMHO. 22 is pretty young. Maybe she is moving slowly due to lack of experience in this area. But otherwise, I'm with these guys, enjoy! You will regret what you didn't do more than what you did do when you are old and gray.

  3. How much is it for a boob job?

I suppose it depends how big it is...... :D

There is one girl working at the New Living Dolls (Pattaya) that has had a boob job.

    Fantastic breasticles now. 52,000 baht.

Paid for by a former boyfriend (note: "former" b/f, who supposedly also paid for the nose and bum jobs, the moto and the house, before suddenly becoming the "former" b/f :D
    )

Still, they are an awesome sight to behold (and just to hold period). :o

As far as the settlement, she could have the house and moto, I get the boobs and bum.

  4. I think asking to provide a reciept would be telling her you dont trust her.

So you think asking her to fax a copy of the doctors report would be a little crass?

I would ask her to send the appendix. Just to be sure.

Now if she wants money for a boob job......... :o

  5. the wonderful upside to all this is that hopefully there will be a mass exodus from these shores of those paragons of truthfulness and good business practice , the british land agent and seller of bali fusion infinity pooled dreams , along with a good number of swaggering loudmouthed jumped up brit brickies and builders and a whole lot of bottom feeding chinless hangers on who have turned beautiful landscapes into tawdry and third rate falang ghetto ghost towns.

there should also be plenty of tarted up toyota fortuners flooding the second hand car market soon.

the enforcing of these old laws is long overdue and very welcome.

thais (and after all it is their country) without land have never been happy with the way land prices have escalated in many areas , putting even the smallest plot well out of reach to them.

increases in land prices and the ridiculous prices asked for and obtained for poorly built homes have contributed greatly to the atmosphere of greed and dishonesty that has been spreading like a filthy pox in so many areas of thailand .

an undercurrent of resentment towards falangs is also a byproduct of the uncontrolled expansion of these "dream homes" that are now turning into nightmare homes.

hopefully those who have paid for the title to their houses wont be dispossessed , but if this crackdown slows down the pace of development , then it will be a blessing.

I have to agree with this. The problem isn't the Thai law, it's the developements designed and marketed by farangs for farangs. Earlier this year I visited several of these on Phuket thinking I wanted to buy one. In each case I was meet by an English speaking agent who made no secret of the fact that their developement was for foreigners. One even had a chart listing the buyer's country of origin. No Thais of course. When asked how they got by the 49% foreigner ownership of the condos, I was told no problem...they would set up a Thai company for me. See the post from Guest House for why this is a great idea. Greed. Love of money is the root of all evil.

  6. In my best cynical voice let me say that while in Thailand, it is better to rent than to own. That goes for just about everything. I have a charming thai girlfriend but I won't marry her until I'm sure I won't get one of these unpleasant surprises so often written about here. No sign of that yet but just in case, I'm waiting her out. :o

  7. Just finished up here in the states.

Royce was dominated and referee stopped the contest in the first. Hughes had a kimura but Royce escaped. Hughes took his back and beat his head until the stoppage. Not even close.

Sanchez, from my hometown of Albuquerque, won an unpopular decision. He could not take the Canadian down and suffered some damage over his eye from punches. Not a particularly interesting fight. The crowd seems to think that Sanchez has been pampered by the UFC and got some consideration from the judges :o I might agree. The crowd booed loudly.

Dean Lister won easily by triangle choke early on.

Vera and Swick both win by guillotine. Jeremy Horn won by submission.

So did anyone have the PPV in Thailand???

  8. First, let me say I do not think you have dengue fever. A mosquito borne illness, it is not uncommon in Thailand but will leave you with a lot more than a rash. Intense headaches, vomiting aches and pains. It's also a hemorhagic disease you can easily die from blood loss and shock.

After that pleasant note :o I must agree with the other posters. My overall health is much better in Thailand. More seafood and fresh fruits and vegies. More exercise, more walking, beachcombing and the like. More sleep, less western style stress. I too like the heat. Seems to free up the creaky joints. And from where I lived in the states, just as easy to get killed on a motorbike there as in Thailand BTW Oh, one more important thing. With the availability and low cost of healthcare in Thailand, people seem to get care sooner and don't have to wait until they are critical.

  9. If all things depend to a greater or lesser extent on the mind and we live in a world that is ordinary and is populated by ordinary people then all that tells us is that we have a ordinary mind.

If our mind is pure and free from faults what kind of world do we live in and what kind of people inhabit that world? Does the ordinary and enlightened person live in two seperate worlds or is it the same world seen with a different point of view?

I'm going to sound like a dumbass, but i did not understand your post, but i still like and respect you. :D

Not a dumbass at all. This is one of the hardest things to grasp, but the most important, in Buddhist teachings. A quote attributed to Buddha, " The external world is only a manifestation of the activities of the mind itself". Buddhadasa Bhikkhu, a splendid Thai monk wrote,"A Buddha is an enlightened individual, one who knows just what is what (knows things just as they are) and so is capable of behaving appropriately with respect to all things." A physiscist, Sir James Jean wrote, "The universe can best be described as consisting of pure thought." What does this all mean? I have been trying to understand this for years now. It may mean simply that, an understanding of the nature of the mind and reality may free one from suffering and rebirth. That would surely qualify as enlightenment. But like I said, I've been trying to understand this for years. :o

  10. I have been around Thailand, in various areas off and on, over the last 3 trying to decide where to permanently settle. I would be interested in the opinions of those who live on Koh Samui as to where the best spot on your island is to live . I would like to have some comforts available, shopping, resturants, etc; but not in the middle of the tourist area. How's the high speed internet connection on the island BTW?

    Thanks for your input.

  11. OK, here are my 2 satangs on the subject, about the going rate for advice I would think.

Yes, visit first, visit again and move around the country as different areas have different feels. Discover the culture, get use to the climate, it's HOT, and by all means study the language.

Next a long rental period in your place of choice decided upon after your early trips of discovery.

You have managed 52 years so far so I would think you know how to choose friends and relationships and manage money. One of my pet peeves is that too many assume that every farang who enters Thailand is an idiot. But no farang thinks they are the idiot it's just all the others.

My other pet peeve is that all Thai women are money grubbing whores. I have defended Thai women in other threads and will do so again here. Yes it is possible to meet a nice civilian Thai girl. One meets bar girls mostly in bars, soooooo, meet your Thai women elsewhere and improve your chances. Having gone through a divorce in the UK , you could over generalize and write a book on the perils of tying up with UK women. I could do the same with the US women. So just use common sense in deciding on your next mate and better luck next time. There are many in Thailand and on this board who are in good relationships . You heard from one earlier in this thread. Take it slow as someone wisely commented earlier. You are just clear of a life changing event. Took me 3 years after I was widowed to get my stuff organized. Best of luck

  12. OK, lets give the Thai ladies a break. I'm surprised the many members who married one haven't come to their defense. I have a nice Thai lady and know of some steady international relationships. The whole country isn't a Stephan Leather novel. :o Nothing wrong with the single life as you can always find company when you want it. But don't be paranoid that every Thai women is a con. I wish you the best in your adventure :D

  13. "The external world is merely a manifestation of the activities of the mind itself." -Buddha

Hence, there is no difference in living in Thailand, Greece or on the moon.

    :D

Does that include after a few Singha's??? :o

Especially after a few Singha's!! :D Then it really doesn't matter where you are since you can't remember anyway

  14. An interesting question, although I'm not sure why you asked . Having worked with young women in the U.S. I can tell you without a doubt that they want nothing to do with a man of modest means.

Being bombarded daily with images of celebs, wretched excess and the need for the next material thing, I am not surprised.

I doubt anyone is attracted to a bum in any country. You want a partner that can walk beside you, not one you have to drag along. One person in the relationship will always out earn the other, traditionally the man, but that is changing. I think women place a high value on security and men an equally high value on looks. Wealthy older farang, young gorgeous thai women, seems a match made in heaven. :o

  15. Hey, careful. My girlfriend is from Surat Thani. Good teeth, nice butt. :D

So is my Wife.. hence my positive comments... they have nice asses dem Surat gals :D

You said a mouthful. Or is that a handful?? :o
