  1. So wait a minute. Let me get this right. On Monday we can once more drink pints pulled from taps? Don't have to bother with the bottle decanted into a mug thing anymore?
  2. What about this darned curfew? Another month? Two maybe?
  3. In your small office maybe, but the world beyond that - very different story. Very different indeed.
  4. Exactly. And let's look at the demographics of the 8%. Wealthy, well-connected, inner-city, old-money Thais. That's who this government appeases because that's who this government has always appeased. I am happy to stay at home as an island entire of myself.
  5. So if they allow 50% capacity in restaurants for vaccinated individuals - which is what the announcement is likely to be. Who's gonna police it? What is acceptable documentation? What is an acceptable vaccine? Has anyone got a vaccine passport yet? Some people have suggested life in Bangkok feels normal. That's true only if you stay in the suburbs, and would ordinarily be confined to your house, not venturing out much. Life for inner-city Bangkokians looks and feels very different, even compared with last year's quasi-lockdown.
  6. It will be like the alcohol ban in restaurants. You just get it in a mug, instead of a glass.
  7. I have it, thanks. It's the overwhelming majority of the country that don't have. The ones who will have to stay outside in the hot, not allowed to come in with the rest.
  8. There is a problem when only 8% of the population have so far been vaccinated.
  9. This is the sad, sad reality of the situation I think most of us here face.
  10. So you can only go to a restaurant or mall if you are fully vaccinated? (1) What are the implications of a two-tier society where the vaccinated and the un-vaccinated are separated? (2) Who is left to police the policy? The owner of the restaurant who is almost broke; the security guard in the mall? Looks like we are about to enter a very new Thailand indeed.
  11. It would seem almost incomprehensible that we would be locked in our houses, and not allowed to leave, having food posted through the letter box - or whatever it was. ...Having said that, all of this seemed incomprehensible only 18 months ago.
  12. "The Centre for Covid-19 Situation Administration (CCSA) will decide on Monday whether some shops in closed shopping centres will be allowed to reopen"
  13. What more could they do to strengthen restrictions in Bangkok? Yes, they like to leak announcements, "priming" the public for bad news.
  14. With the 31st of August but three weeks away, what are your predictions for the relaxing of restrictions in your part of the country? Looking at the numbers nationwide - it doesn't really look great. That coupled with the vaccine rollout. Would be happy to have 25% dine-in capacity in BKK, but even that looks like a remote possibility in just 18 days time.
