So wait a minute. Let me get this right.
On Monday we can once more drink pints pulled from taps?
Don't have to bother with the bottle decanted into a mug thing anymore?

Anyone get a pint anywhere yesterday? ????

What about this darned curfew? Another month? Two maybe?

Nonsense.
Did you mean to say ‘let’s look at the demographics through my one-eyed bias without providing any actual facts but just opinions and generalizations ’?
You know who the first people were to be vaccinated in my company ?
The office maids, who live in Klong Toei, double jabbed by end of April.
Rest of the company is still waiting for their 2nd in a couple of weeks.
In your small office maybe, but the world beyond that - very different story. Very different indeed.

Of course it will, impossible to implement even if they had such a will. People are, as usual, getting in a flap or panic over nothing.
Are you sure, Jacko? Don't you think this might be different? ????

Presumably the government are doing this to try and appease people, but this is just going to make those who haven't been offered a vaccine yet even more livid. This will end badly.
Exactly. And let's look at the demographics of the 8%.
Wealthy, well-connected, inner-city, old-money Thais.
That's who this government appeases because that's who this government has always appeased.
I am happy to stay at home as an island entire of myself.

So if they allow 50% capacity in restaurants for vaccinated individuals - which is what the announcement is likely to be.
Who's gonna police it? What is acceptable documentation? What is an acceptable vaccine? Has anyone got a vaccine passport yet?
Some people have suggested life in Bangkok feels normal. That's true only if you stay in the suburbs, and would ordinarily be confined to your house, not venturing out much. Life for inner-city Bangkokians looks and feels very different, even compared with last year's quasi-lockdown.

It won't happen ????
It will be like the alcohol ban in restaurants. You just get it in a mug, instead of a glass.

Or you could get the vax?
I have it, thanks. It's the overwhelming majority of the country that don't have. The ones who will have to stay outside in the hot, not allowed to come in with the rest.

Look, how Western countries manage this.
There is no problem at all.
There is a problem when only 8% of the population have so far been vaccinated.

58 minutes ago, it is what it is said:
same old thailand actually... everyone (the top 8%) who matters is vaccinated, all my thai friends; educated professionals, and their families are fully vaccinated. who cares about the rest?!
This is the sad, sad reality of the situation I think most of us here face.

So you can only go to a restaurant or mall if you are fully vaccinated?
(1) What are the implications of a two-tier society where the vaccinated and the un-vaccinated are separated?
(2) Who is left to police the policy? The owner of the restaurant who is almost broke; the security guard in the mall?
Looks like we are about to enter a very new Thailand indeed.

I don't think there's any chance of that ever happening in Thailand! Hopefully.

What did they do in Wuhan?
It would seem almost incomprehensible that we would be locked in our houses, and not allowed to leave, having food posted through the letter box - or whatever it was.
...Having said that, all of this seemed incomprehensible only 18 months ago.

If anything they will strengthen restrictions before the end of the month, I've noticed that they like to announce things slightly ahead of time so I would expect some kind of announcement around August 23 to 25th.
What more could they do to strengthen restrictions in Bangkok?
Yes, they like to leak announcements, "priming" the public for bad news.
-
With the 31st of August but three weeks away, what are your predictions for the relaxing of restrictions in your part of the country?
Looking at the numbers nationwide - it doesn't really look great. That coupled with the vaccine rollout.
Would be happy to have 25% dine-in capacity in BKK, but even that looks like a remote possibility in just 18 days time.

More importantly - when are the pubs opening?

Give you a tip mate, make sure you've all your travel history paperwork including your seamans book stamped up when you sign off. Seems as though seamen are getting a good deal travelling at the moment. I signed off in Taiwan, ended up in Heathrow then legged it to Portugal..... Going to Turkey tomorrow..... Hopefully i can get into Malaysia in the very near future...... I'm not jumping through the Thai hoops anymore, even though i live in Bkk....... Just not worth it....
Thank you, mate. How is the quarantine situation in Malaysia?
I really don't like this idea of having to do 3 weeks in a hotel in Bangkok - especially after three months in Dry Dock ????
