It states Non-O is only available for

1) Family support

2) Volunteer work

3) Condo owner

Document is required in all cases. For example, marriage certificate, letter of invitation to do volunteer work or paper for ownership. Non-O is for 3 months stay. You can do retirment extension after financial proof is shown inside Thailand

ubonjoe, thanks for a quick reply. let me summarize the process you outlined.

1. Get a 30-day extension of the current tourist visa so that I can stay up to Nov 30, 2017

2. My money was deposited in Bangkok Bank on Sept 2. Hence, I can only apply for change of status after Nov 2.

3. A few days after Nov 2, I apply for visa status change from tourist to non-immigrant visa (category o).  Do you know the immigration form no for this?

Current Situation.

1. Tourist visa from Chicago consulate with US passport

2. Bangkok bank account with 800K deposit for the last one month.

3. Stamped admitted until 31st Oct, 2017

4. Enter before stamped in visa is Nov 14, 2017

5. Currently living in Thailand (Pattaya) for almost one month.

6. US passport holder and age is 50+

Can some one please outline the steps now required for getting retirement visa for long-stay (one year)
