Be grateful you have scammed the visa system for so long and not getting caught before.

Could you do the same thing in the UK????

Hardly a scam muppet, when there are no official number of times you can go in and out. Its 2 months plus one month as people on this board know. We are talking about t how many visa runs you can do.

  2. After coming in and out of Thailand on tourist visas for the last few years, yesterday on my way to KL an officer scribbled something in my passport with out explaining. After speaking with Thai friends at the airport they told me I'd had the 24 hour rule written ie; I can only come in to Thailand for 24 hours on my return. Painful. I am returning to my home country. Does any one know if I can come back on a different visa ie Education visa. I have a Thai GF so we could get married. Or am I screwed. No more Thailand? I am in my 40s.

  3. Suck it up (I mean tht in a nice way) eek it out at your friends house until your card comes. Then pay off the hotel and pay off your visa over stay. The hotel should understand as you're a victim of crime. Alternatively, move in to a 150 baht/200 hostel and bide your time there. 18 years ago I lost almost everything on the eve of a visa trip. I had about 5000 baht so I holed up in a dirt cheap hostel near khoasan/ a few generous ladies put me up and lived cheap. Then paid my visa overstay when money came through. Poor but happy.

  4. I have been thinking of doing a visa run  for a tourist visa from Hua Hin to KL and back. I read now 2 things have changed recently.

    A) you dont need proof on income anymore.

    B) Now you have to make an appointment in advance by receiving an SMS to have an appointment at the office and to pick up your visa. This means buying a Malay sim.

This is an inconveience as ofcourse you have to show with your application a returning ticket to Thailand. You can only apply for an interview with a Malay sim card to receive and send sms's. That means you have to apply once youve bought your sim card in Malaysia. What happens if they say your interview is in 4 days and you were only planning a 5 day trip and the same goes for the second scheduled appointment for picking up your passport.

Has anyone had any good experiences? Do they give appointments in no less than 2 days?

  5. I have been staying mainly in Thailand, taking holidays in surrounding countries and coming back on Thai tourist visas for the last 3 years. I am 46. On my last entry through Don M the immigration official said this was the last time  - I should spend equal time in the UK (I am from UK) before applying again but he didnt put a warning in my passport. I am now thinking of simply doing a round trip from Hua Hin on the same day as I'm renting a condo in Hua Hin now. IS this a bad/good idea?

  6. I am 46 and have an income from my business in the UK. For the last 3 years I have been in South East Asia - mostly in Thailand on tourist visas.

I received a warning at Penang a year ago that I may be refused another Thai tourist visa there. I now have a new passport and have 3 Thai tourist visas in it from Myanmar, Bali and Vietnam (I spent 1 month in Bali and Malaysia). On my return from Vietnam immigration at DM airport said they would not allow entry again unless I spent an equivalent time in the UK. I have never heard this demand made before. I would be grateful if anyone knows of any other options?

  7. I don't like to complain about anything in the land of smiles as so many things tick all the boxes. However, after a flight from Bali with a lay off in Jakarta that took all day I went to the Kasikorn till on the ground floor of DM airport to exchange 4.9 million Indonesian  Rphs. After all airports I imagined are the one place you can  rely on to give you a fair rate. I was wrong. The lady behind the till pulled out a long tape with numbers penned on it. She counted out 5760 Baht. I was very tired but it did not look right to me. "Do you want it or not?" she asked. I must have my maths wrong I thought and in my weariness took it and got my taxi. It came back to me in a fit when while I was in the taxi that this figure had to be wrong. Yes! XE said I should have received over 11000 Baht! I phoned Kasikorn bank whom promised to look into it. Two days later a lady called me back and said "Solly Mr, Kasikorn at Don Mueang puts a 40% charge on all transactions!!" Painful and unlike Thailand! Be warned!

  8. Two years ago they did a next day service. A taxi driver told me a new woman had taken over and now people had to wait a few days with out warning. Is this a ploy to get people to spend more money in the local town with hotels etc or is it to get more facebook time? Which ever way it's painful. I guess they will want colour photo copies of our parents passports soon, birth certificate copies (in colour) and signed papers by our first headmasters.
